Updated review - don't buy this phone
UPDATED REVIEW: After trying different camera apps, photos are blurry / fuzzy. Photos are a critical function for mobile devices, and there is no excuse for a bad camera. I've attached a sample image.Motorola accepts no responsibility for the camera or camera software. That means I'm stuck with this phone.There are many alternatives for mobile devices. Pick something else.------------------------------Overall, it's a solid product from Motorola. I purchased this to replace a broken Moto X4 which was a solid performer. There are a few things to consider before purchasing: (1) There is no NFC - so there is no option to pay using terminals at retail locations. (2) The fingerprint reader is inconveniently located on the back of the phone. In one, and only one, use case, which is when you are holding the phone in your hand to read, this works well. For all other use cases, like where the phone is on my desk at work and I want to access my email, this is a terrible form factor. Now, I have to enter a 6-digit pin or pick up the phone. (3) there is a cut-out at the top of the screen to fit the front-facing camera. This makes the display look a little odd at the top as the camera covers the top of each page display. It's a good attempt to provide more screen area, but it's completely annoying, like trying to wipe a bug off the outside of a window. The bug isn't impeding your view, but it's annoying to have a bug in your field of view.I've had issues with the camera and have loaded open camera in an attempt to get pictures that aren't fuzzy. I believe the issue is with Motorola's photo app, which takes 2 images in an attempt to keep all objects in focus. Well, it results in all objects being fuzzy - so if you're into fuzzy photos, this works consistently. I hope to have better results with Open Camera.In summary, for $200 through Google Fi, it's a good enough phone to overlook the shortcomings.
