5.0 out of 5 stars Best Earbuds I’ve had
Reviewed in Canada on October 28, 2021
These things are honestly impressive. I got them on sale pretty cheap and I would purchase them again full price if I had to. I had a pair of first gen AirPods for years and the features these have are game changing. They have single, double, triple tap controls plus a hold control compared to my AirPods double tap only. These do not work with hey Siri but you can just hold one for a couple seconds to get Siri working. The active noise cancelling is okay, not the greatest but it still works at reducing incoming sounds. The volume on these is pretty great as well. I’m not sure if my AirPods got quieter over the years but these play almost twice as loud. The ambient sound option is pretty cool too if you want to hear what’s going on around you.

These are very comfortable to wear, sometimes I’ll have them in all day and forget I’m even wearing them. The battery life is phenomenal. They go most of my work shift without needing to be charged but if I take them out at lunch to charge them, they have no problem making it the rest of the day. There’s an app for these as well that you can change the EQ and what the hold commands do, it shows battery level for each earbud and the case, and you can even turn off the touch controls. This is an oddly handy feature as I take out one earbud a lot to hear people talking in a very loud environment and taking them out or adjusting them triggers the touch commands most of the time. Not too much of an issue, first world problems lol. Very good set of earbuds otherwise. Even the way they sit in my ear never makes my ears hurt like the AirPods did after just an hour or two.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great sound from open fit earbuds
Reviewed in Canada on July 10, 2023
The Samsung Galaxy Live Buds have quite a unique design with the earbuds resembling kidney beans. They almost look like they wouldn't fit into your ears but they fit surprisingly well. At first, it a bit awkward to adjust it to the right angle but after a while, you get a good feel for how they should sit in your ear. It does come with different sized silicone pads for the upper portion but I didn't find the different sizes made any difference to the fit. However, all ears are different so these might help with fit in your ear. The Live Buds are partially open fit earbuds so the speaker grill is directed into your ear canal but there is no piece that seals into your ear canal. Because of this more open fit, they are comfortable to wear even for extended periods of time. I also found the fit is secure and didn't fall out even when doing activities like jogging.

Sound quality is very good, sorta expected for earbuds in this price range. Like other Samsung wireless earbuds, the sound is fun and energetic with a good balance across the frequency range. For open fit earbuds, the bass response and the midrange is presented well and I enjoyed listening to different genres with the Live Buds. Control is fairly responsive but it is a small target near the top of each earbud. If paired with the Galaxy Wear app, you have limited customization abilities with what the controls do. I changed mine so I can control the volume with the earbuds. The Live Buds do not support any of the higher definition codecs like aptX. That wasn't a deal breaker considering the sound quality is very good. It also doesn't support multi-point connections which is slightly disappointing. It does support device switching, but only if you are using Samsung devices with the same Samsung account, which didn't apply for me.

The Live Buds have Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which is interesting considering the open design. It did work okay but because there is no seal in ear canal and the passive noise isolation is not as good as other earbuds, it only has a moderate noise reduction effect. It was able to reduce lower frequency sounds like a fan or the AC, but human speech or sound from the TV can still be heard.

Overall, the Samsung Live Buds have a comfortable and secure fit, great sound quality that is fun and energetic but the ANC has limited effectiveness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfort with great sound
Reviewed in Canada on April 14, 2024
5 stars for a open ear bud that fits my ears very well, only have to adjust it on occasion and that is when I check to see if they are still there. I forget they are there. The sound is good, not an audiophile, I can hear the deep bass, strings and hats. For me, there is a discernable difference when turning on the active noise feature, though they are open à Nd don't compare to ear buds or over ear. I don't like having pushed in my ear bud AND they always do hurt. Plus it affects ear wax buildup.
I would not pay the $160+ regular price, however the sale price at $99, make them a good value. The Samsung Wearable app is a nice feature with some customizable buttons. 5 stars for sale price abd and 4 with regular as st they point I'd look into SENNHEISER, BOSE, or. Even Alpine

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Apple AirPods 2. Fits well into Apple Ecosystem
Reviewed in Canada on April 3, 2024
These fit better in the Apple Ecosystem, than AirPods 2 at least. They last longer than 2.5 hours and sound much better. Bluetooth was easy on Apple devices. No issues connecting. This is a real review from a real person using this product. You won’t be disappointed. I’m not endorsed by anyone or any company.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
Reviewed in Canada on August 29, 2021
My first set of Bluetooth earbuds were by Anker and I really like them - sound quality, price, battery life. I bought the Samsung thinking they would be an upgrade. I was disappointed.
- the sound was tinny and distant (probably because they sit outside the ear canal unlike earplug style).
- I could not tell the difference when noise cancellation was turned on or off.
- battery seemed to drain faster than the Anker.
- fit was comfortable but did not feel as secure as the Anker.
The only reason I am keeping them is because they are not earplug style so they do not completely block outside noise which I think is dangerous when running outside or doing anything where you have to be aware of your surroundings.

6 weeks later . . .
The sound seems to have improved, it is warmer and more balanced.
