Not very accurate but easy to use
As stated in the title, this scale is not very accurate. I bought this because my Fitbit Aria seemed to just have a few favorite numbers that it would pick. It gives you the illusion that it's accurate down to a tenth of a pound but that's a lie. Unfortunately I realized this scale has the same symptoms. If you look at my screenshot you'll see what this eufy scale does (screenshot is from the Fitbit app, the eufy app is garbage.) I'm dieting right now, I eat about 1000 calories or less a day and only drink water - so I know I'm losing weight. I have a very specific time where I start/stop drinking and eating every day to eliminate variables in my morning weight measurement. There is absolutely no way I weigh the exact same 3 days in a row. I can get a good approximation of where I am looking at a trend line, but I don't trust the weight from the scale at all. Body fat percentage is also well over my actual percentage. I've tested my Aria against other more professional methods and the Aria holds pretty true. The Aria tells me I'm closer to 20% currently if not below, as opposed to the eufy reporting 26ish. I'm going to continue using this scale for consistency until I hit my target but then it's going right in the trash. I'd rather have the same weight measurement problem with a scale that better tracks my body fat. I love Anker, but they should stick to battery packs and cables.

Edit 7/6/2017: After lengthy and helpful discussions with Jinna from Eufy support, I believe that my scale may have been defective. Anker's internal testing shows that they should be able to detect weight changes as small as 0.2 lbs, while my scale consistently does not show a new weight unless my weight differs by more than 0.6-0.8 lbs from the last reading. Anker/Eufy support was very awesome and offered an exchange or refund even though it was past 30 days since I bought the item. While I still stand by my complaints about the app, I am very impressed by Eufy's outstanding customer service. 5 stars for customer service!

Edit 6/22/2017: It's been a week since my Eufy Scale synced with Google Fit. Syncing was always kind of iffy but now it consistently doesn't work. Deducting another star because syncing with other health fitness apps is pretty much an essential feature of a smart scale.

I had a
Withings Body - Body Composition Wi-Fi Scale, Black  that I was incredibly satisfied with, but I gave it away as a gift and couldn't find another at a low price. I was interested in this scale after seeing it crowned the runner-up for the best smart scale and also because the manufacturer is Anker. Coming from a Withings, I was looking for something very accurate and sensitive at measuring weight and that's what I'll be focusing on in this review with comparison to the Withings.

I expected exceptional accuracy from this scale since it comes from a pretty good manufacturer, but unfortunately the accuracy of this scale really misses the mark. In order to test the sensitivity of scales, I use 100 g weights and weigh myself with 1, 2, or 3 of these weights to see if the scale can detect changes of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 kg. This scale always fails to detect a 100 g weight change, but can detect a weight change of 200 g. HOWEVER, if you increase your weight by 100 g in succession, the scale will continue to read out the exact same weight until you reach a weight difference from your starting weight of 0.3 or 0.4 kg. This indicates that the scale is heavily relying on past measurements in order to determine future measurements, instead of taking a new, independent measurement each time. This is the exact same accuracy as my <$20
EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale with Extra Large Lighted Display , which means that the extra $30 you're paying is going to smart features, body composition, and hardware design but NOT scale accuracy. And FYI, the Eufy scale agrees with the EatSmart to 0.1 kg and is usually 0.1 kg less than the EatSmart.

Having discovered that, I probably would have just waited for another sale on Withings scales, since the most important attribute I value in a bathroom scale is accuracy. I track my weight religiously every day and the accuracy of the Withings lets me figure out exactly how much my weight has changed since the day before. If my weight changes by only 0.1 kg, then the Eufy is sure to not detect it. I only trust the Eufy for changes more than 0.3 kg, which is a considerable amount since my weight tends to change by only 1.0 kg throughout the day.

While I focused mainly on weight accuracy, I want to point out that another area where there are huge differences between the Eufy and the Withings is the quality of the smart features. The Eufy scale was quite easy and fast to set up compared to the Withings, but unfortunately that's the only thing that's easier about the Eufy. Since the scale is Bluetooth only, the app has to be open and the scale has to be on in order for your measurements to be sent to your phone. Fortunately, the scale WILL save multiple readings until it reconnects to your phone so you won't lose readings if you don't have your phone open.

On the other hand, the Withings scale was a bit harder and slower to set up, since it did a software update when I first turned mine on and I had to connect it to wifi. Seriously, the first setup took almost 10 minutes! But since the scale was connected to wifi, it was able to upload my measurements to the Withings servers even if my phone was off or missing. Since I weigh myself in a rush before getting dressed and heading out the door to work, I found the Withings approach to be MUCH more convenient. Plus, the Withings tells you the weather!

Would I recommend this scale to most people? For the price, it definitely wins. However, you shouldn't expect any more accuracy than a $20 scale. The extra $30 pays for convenience and design. If you really want the most accuracy and sensitivity, you will have to splurge on the Withings.

Note: I know that I didn't really touch over the body composition features of this scale. Since I don't have my Withings anymore or a body composition analyzer, I'd rather not say anything about it because I can't vouch for the accuracy or reproducibility of the body composition measurements.

Pros:
* Attractive hardware design
* Smaller than the Withings scale
* Half the price of the Withings and one of the cheapest good smart scales

Cons:
* Only can detect weight changes of 0.2 kg/0.4 lbs or greater
* Does not take a new reading every time
* "Memorizes" past measurements, potentially reducing sensitivity to 0.4 kg if weight changes are too small
* Bluetooth reliance requires app to be open in order to sync (however, will save measurements until next sync)

With most Bluetooth devices, it seems as if you have to wait around for an eternity for them to sync up. The Eufy smart scale syncs up blazingly fast. You won't be waiting. Other than that, it's a scale, and it does what a scale does. I can't comment on accuracy, although it agrees with my tried and true Tanita. Granularity is to the tenth of a pound which is probably overkill BUT... if you need to track the weight of a small dog (by doing the pick up the dog and subtract your weight from that weight thing) it might come in useful where a higher degree of accuracy is necessary.

Actually stepping on it: You know how some scales have the feet placed to far in so stepping on the scale in the wrong place can thwack you in the shin? Not a problem here, the feet are sufficiently close to the edge as to avoid that problem (at least for me).

It provides TONS of metrics including BMI, Body fat%, water weight, muscle mass, bone mass, Basal Metabolic Rate, visceral fat, lean body mass, body fat mass, bone mass, and muscle mass. This might seem overkill, but if you've been exercising to lose weight, and the weight is not moving, this scale might tell you what's actually going on as you'll be able to see a decrease in body fat mass, and an increase in lean body mass. In addition, clicking on each metric shows you a graph of what the recommended range is, and where you fall within that. While there are many variables to consider, and the recommendations might not be right for everyone, I do appreciate that they're trying to provide some context, instead of just throwing a meaningless metric at you.

Color... I got the black. As others have mentioned, black will show every little water mark. I don't care, I like the black as it's less obtrusive against my darker oak floor. If that's a concern though and you're looking for something a bit lower maintenance, get the white.

In late 2018 PC Magazine gave this scale a favorable review, but they brought up two caveats. One was that you couldn't delete erroneous (or superfluous) entries, and the other had to do with privacy with multiple users. I can confirm that deleting unwanted measurements has been addressed. Just click on history, left swipe the entry in question, and click the X button. The privacy issue has to do with multiple users. The scale syncs to an app, and that app records all of the data. This means that whomever pairs their phone to the scale is going to be able to see the data for all users. I don't know if they've addressed this as of yet, but that may be of concern if you have multiple people using the scale who are sensitive about their weight, as well as all the other metrics it tracks. It seems the WiThings Body Sense + does not have this issue.

One final note, you do have to provide an email address and create an account on the app. This doesn't really bother me so much. I just used a fake name, and created a Gmail account that's not attached to anything else, so there's no real metrics to track there that would be of use to anyone.

I was considering the WiThings Body Sense+ at $99 but honestly, for me personally this scale does everything I need it to do and I can't see paying $60 more considering what this offers.

I got it on sale for around 2k, and for the price that I paid, this is a steal.
Setup is easy, app interface is good and the measurement is taken quickly. You don’t need the app to be open to see your weight, but you’ll need it to be open when you are using the other features.
Don’t expect this to be super accurate but you can use the readings to get a General idea of how your body is doing.
It also syncs easily with Fitbit and Apple Health which is great! Would recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars My first smart scale and I'm very, very impressed
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 12, 2017
I’ve been aware of Anker’s sister brand Eufy for sometime, which focuses on health and lifestyle products, yet I have not been able to find a product that I both required and that would not empty my wallet at the same time (sorry RoboVac). Luckily thanks to a recent 20% sale and an interest in learning more about my health, the BodySense Smart Scale has graced my doorstep. Robust build quality with sleek-stylish two tone glass and plastic construction should give years of use and fit any surrounding.

Now I’ve had or used various scales in the past, from digital back to the more old fashioned mechanical (yep the spinning wheel ones) but this is my first “smart” scale, which besides the usual weightage given, also gives a more in depth breakdown of your body composition (BC) thanks to 2 pairs of built-in sensors which cover;

Weight, Body Fat, BMI, Water, Muscle, Bone, BMR, Visceral Fat, Lean Body Mass, Body Fat Mass, Bone Mass and Muscle Mass

So for those of you like me, that were curious as to your fat vs muscle percentage but didn’t have the foggiest how to go about it, problem sorted.

Setup and Use
Once out of the box and the included 4AAA batteries are in place, the scale is good to go for measuring your weight. Depending on your location (or just unit preference) you can set the weight measurement to be shown in kilograms, pounds or stones via a push button no the rear of the scale (plus customisation in the app for recorded data). The more than adequate bright LED display will, however, only display a conventional weight measurement. If you are wanting to make full use of the scale's features, some additional setup is required.

Firstly you will need to download the 'EufyLife' app from your relevant Appstore (Apple iOS 8+ and Android 4.3+ supported), complete a quick registration via the app and then enter some basic personal stat's which will be used in conjunction with the scale to determine how your BC results add up. Once you've setup the app and turned on your device's Bluetooth connection, the scale will be detected and pair from within the app automatically (don’t try via the bluetooth menu). The scale and app support up to 16 different users (large families sorted) which can either be on the same device or separate.

Note: for body composition (BC) measurements to be taken you must be barefoot, socks are fine for just weight but skin contact is required for 'smart features'

Once your good to go app and battery wise, simply step on the scale and view your weight live in the app which is followed by your BC shortly after (about 5-10 seconds). The results are easy to understand for any age or tech level thanks to a intuitive colour system of blue (low), green (normal), yellow (high) based from your statistics entered (red also present on overall weight to indicate excessive). Values and/or percentages (depending on the measurement) of your BC are also provided for those who want more than just a quick reference result. Expanding each measurement in the app gives a short description to help you better understand what the measurement actually relates to. Data that is collected can be easily shared with other supported health apps such as Apple Health, to keep your health data in a single location but my preference so far as been for Eufy's own offering for trend tracking.

Pro’s
Out of the box ready
Quick BT connection and user friendly app
Accurate, when tested against two other digital scales (thanks to my parents for loaning me theirs)
App prompts if a vast difference in current and last weight measurement is detected
Sleek, modern finish that will fit any bathroom
Clear LCD display
Accurate weight measurement (compared to two other non-smart digital scales)
Re-calibration function via the

Con’s
Scale does not play well on short pile carpets or bathroom mats, which other digital scales have no issues with. Weight measurements can be impaired by several pounds but app does warn about the drastic change in weight when this happens.

Verdict
For my first smart scale I'm very impressed, not only at being able to visually track how my progress in the gym is translating on the scales but at the build quality of the scale and how intuitive and easy to use the app is. Will certainly be keeping my eyes open for future Eufy products as or if they make it to the UK.

Now I’ve had or used various scales in the past, from digital back to the more old fashioned mechanical (yep the spinning wheel ones) but this is my first “smart” scale, which besides the usual weightage given, also gives a more in depth breakdown of your body composition (BC) thanks to 2 pairs of built-in sensors which cover;
