Love it! Really Scary

The disc worked perfectly, the code worked, and the game runs smoothly on my laptop. It doesn't quite work well with a ps3 controller, so I'd keep that in mind. I have to use JoyToKey to map the controller to the game, but it still doesn't work quite right. Regardless, I'm a huge fan of the Dead Space series, so this is no different. It is a scary game to play alone, but that's half the fun.

SYSTEM SHOCK 2 RIP OFF

Remember system shock 2 back in 1999. Dead space must have been made by the same designer or copied. The graphics for Dead Space are a little better but aftger 12 years you would expect that. Game play, unfortunately is not. System Shock was a great game, Dead Space is..well kinda dead. What is it with the lowered expectation of console games. This game can drive you crazy. I have had it for over a year and stopped playing it twice because of the cumbersome interface. The controls have been made sluggish so our character moves around like he's had a fifth of whiskey and mouse aiming is very sloppy. Imagine your arms and the gun your holding being made of soft rubber and you get and idea. The 3rd person perspective is irritating as well since half the time your characters back takes up 25% to 50% of the screen. Load times are from 15 to 45 seconds and even elevator rides can take 25 seconds. Initially the monsters are creepy but after a while they are just annoying and I have found myself wishing the game was over. I'm glad I bought it heavily discounted.

If you were to take movies like Aliens, Event Horizon, and The Thing then put them into a third person video game, you would get Dead Space. Great cinematic sequences, high speed action, and awesome sound that's excellent with home theater or head phones. A couple of downsides; some of the weapons and the melee attack are utterly worthless. If you like creepy atmosphere, SciFi, and gore; you'll love this game.

Had to get this game because my son has it on xbox. I don't spend alot of time in front of the computer until now. When I was younger and play station came out with resident evil I was crazy over it. Well looks like I brought out the boy in me and love this game. I guess you can call me Dead Spaced.

A first person shooter that mixes survival and chilling creatures to creep you out.

Had to tweak the settings for this console port to play right on my PC using keyboard and mouse. Good game though...I really like the cool but eerie "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" intro. I recommend DS2 and DS3 as well.

This game has been out for quite some time now but I've only recently had the pleasure of playing it and I can gladly say it was a fantastic experience.

The story begins simply as the game places your character, Isaac Clark, on a mysteriously deserted space station to investigate what happened. Of course things go horribly wrong and he ends up isolated on the station with a slew of parasitic aliens called necromorphs standing between him and escape. There is also a psychological twist as Isaac begins to hallucinate more and more as the game progresses.

The graphics are top-notch with high level of detail in both the environment and characters with no punches pulled on the gore effects. Minor details like the health meter being a part of the suit and the inventory screen floating in front of your character remove unnecessary HUD clutter that plagues games like Assassin's Creed and helps to make the game more immersive.

The sound in this game also impresses. The faint echo of an enemy walking through a vent in some distant pipe or of a demented man repeatedly hitting his head off of a wall can be quite disturbing thanks to the quality effects. The soundtrack is basically adequately creepy and doesn't really stand out but that's more than compensated for the effects made when crunching the bones and exploding the heads of your enemies.

Gameplay in Dead Space is excellent. More than a standard third person shooter, Dead Space gives you a variety of interesting guns to sever the limbs of your enemies. More damage is inflicted when severing the limbs of necromorphs adding a unique layer of strategy to encounters. The basic plasma cutter weapon, for example, can fire both horizontal and vertical shots to strategically aim at specific enemy body parts. Other weapons, like the cutter that shoots a floating saw blade in front of you for a few seconds, are less precise but very fun to wield. Exploring the environment is also a treat due to the ship's constantly changing unique atmosphere.

Summarily, Dead Space is an exciting and often terrifying thrill ride with tight third person shooter gameplay. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a game with an expansive creepy environment, elusively terrifying enemy encounters, or just good old third person shootin'.
