    This printer is the bomb diggitty. I was inexpensive, a lot of VALUE here. The printer has a fast start up, and decent print speeds. Plus all the other things you expect from an all in one machine. The scanner works great, you can scan PDF or jpg. or other formats. I love this printer! I had a HP, I paid about the same money and it was finicky, super slow start up, it will literally take about 2 minutes to print when starting cold. And the print heads were junk, I replaced the print heads twice. But enough about the other. This Borhter MFC-J680DW is a great little printer. Oh, yeah, that is the other thing, it takes very little space on my printer table it is only like a 15"x12". Also, you can connect it via Wi-Fi or via USB printer Cable. I hooked mine up with a USB cable because I don't want it on the network. But it can also be put on the network, if you are in a intranet.

    Printer works well, easy set up, & it will run on an Asus router so in my opinion its a wonderful printer. It's also very economical as the ink doesn't cost a fortune.
    Some draw backs: the printer can be slow. It's not super fast but this doesn't bother me because I'm not in a rush with my printer needs. You have to pull the paper tray out completely to load paper or change the settings for photo paper. Again not a deal breaker for someone who doesn't mind doing this. Another issue that I could see is bother someone is that there are 4 ink cartridges. 3 color & one black. Even though there are many cartridges, they're easy to install & takes no time at all.
    I also want to say I use this printer daily as a student. I've had it for near a month & have not run out of ink. So I'm not sure how long the ink lasts. I've also printed multiple photos(20).
    All in all if you don't mind a slow but precise print, this is a very good printer. It was a breeze to install & it works on dual band which is a miracle because this is the 3rd printer I bought because none of the others would work on it.
    Brother is a top notch company & if you need any help, they are always there. I called them before purchasing this one to make sure it would work on Asus router.

    Original review: The printer quality, and speed of printing is adequate, considering this is a relatively inexpensive printer. Of course, they make their profit on expensive ink cartridges that need to be frequently replaced, as do most printer manufacturers. But especially annoying is the frequent need to open the ink cartridge compartment, eject and reinstall each cartridge, and do this many times in a row, to get the printer to work. On some occasions, this very time-consuming process determines that you need to replace one or more cartridges. However, it is inefficient and annoying, and often no cartridge needs to be replaced, the printer was just confused.

    I like this brother printer in the quality of print in black and color. It appears to suit most of my uses, which includes the printing of a booklet format. I like the ease of changing ink cartridges too.

    My criticism of this printer is the paper tray does not hold much paper and access to the tray is clumsy at best. I need to access the tray quite readily for the use of specialty paper. The other issue is that it won't accept, or I haven't figured out how to make it work, a specialty paper that I like to use in creating a booklet. I had to forgo this paper because I couldn't get the printer to accept it. I also needed a workaround in a particular format where a title page pulls through too quickly and it cuts off part of the title. I just switched to "best" quality of print where it pulled it through slower and it was fine. Anyway, overall I am happy with the printer other than the mostly minor annoyances.

    Great printer for the price. I have been using Canon PIXMA MX870 for last several years, but it stopped working just recently (I got an error message requesting a service, but this model was no longer serviceable by Canon). So, at first, I was planing on getting a newer version of that Canon (MX922), but later decided to see if there is something else I can use (Canon does have good quality printing and scanning, but it is very big and uses a lot of ink).
    I do not use printer on a daily bases, but I do want something with good quality printing and scanning; also I did not want pay more then $100 for the printer, there are to many choices for under $100 to do that. After reviewing several different models from several brands, I stopped on this model and, so far, do not regret it.
    The new Brother Work Smart line is very compact, but very capable. The printing is fast and good quality; scanning is pretty good too. I used a wireless setup (no USB cable) to keep more printing options (to printing straight from wireless devices). It was so easy to do; I just followed the instructions.
    The only issue I had so far is WIFI Direct option. All descriptions and reviews I have seen state this model (as well as most others Work Smart line models) support this function, but I can not find any instruction on how to setup this (not on Brother's website, not in the manuals provided).
    Also, I was not printing a lot so far (printed only a few pages), so I did not have to replace the sample ink cartridges that came with printer. Some people stated they had some issues with replacing cartridges; I can not say anything regarding that yet.

    Did homework through Amazon reviews and Consumer reports. I liked the ease of set up and connection to our wifi and ease of use with the other devices. It printed great documents, Photos were a whole other story. Lines down the middle of the photo paper and unable to get a good picture out of it. I adjusted for all the possibilities both on the actual printer and on my computer to calibrate for best photo prints. Still off color and not quite what I wanted. Called the 1-800 brother number which was so incredibly difficult to find in the paper work. They put me on hold for over 10 min before a person came on. Once I tried to trouble shoot with the operator we got nowhere. I was put on hold it took another 15 minutes for them to get back on the phone with me while they researched what is going on. He asked me to photocopy the actual picture that I printed to see if that worked. Frustrating to say the least and will be returning the printer tomorrow.

    Very nice working printer for the price. Had no problem connecting to WI FI with Windows 10. Runs very quiet and prints a pretty decent 4x6 colour photo off of my phone. This is used for moderate home use only and the print speeds and quality are quite adequate for our needs. One thing that l noted is the monthly page rating of 2500 copies which seems unusual in this price range. As for durability, time will tell as l have only used 1/2 of the original cartridges so far. The instructions are easy to follow and the touch screen controls are intuitive and responsive. UPDATE 1 1/2 years in and aprox. 4000 copies later this printer has continued work perfectly and never skipped a beat! It accepts generic cartridges without a whimper unlike 2 competitors I owned previously that both died at roughly 1/2 the page count. When / If this printer dies it will be replaced by another Brother model. Highly recommend!

    Great printer, prints as you like it to, wired and wireless, which was easy to set up. Color ink is also very cheap because third party companies make it, one of the most cheapest for black and color ink. Functionality is also very nice with scanning, faxing, and if you need, it also lets you print on long pieces of paper by inserting it through the back. Print quality is decent, for color pictures it's not that vibrant but it looks alright. Perfect for the average user or student who occasionally prints. It can't hold a lot of paper in the tray so it's not ideal for heavy office use. Very satisfied with this product, great functionality, decent print quality, and cheap ink.

    This is my 4th brother printer. They are pretty slow and I think less crisp than competition like HP, Canon, Epson. This one is the best Brother I have had in quality of printing and the ability to do 2 sided printing. Brother printers evolved from fax machines so are really strong at handling fax. You can easily set it up to listen to all incoming calls and intercept them if they are fax and pass them to your handsets if they are not. There are lots of good features in the copy function such as enlarge/reduce, including reducing 2 or 4 pages to 1 page. If you use bulk ink this is a really great choice as it is a tank system with a permanent print head in the printer not in the cartridges. Easy to refill cartridges are available from Inkwell (USA) or from several China sources. If you buy this printer do not apply the available firmware update as the update is designed to make it impossible to use 3rd party cartridges. Delivery to Vancouver, BC was very fast - about 2 days.

    Not thrilled with this printer but don't dislike it enough to be bothered sending it back. It is very slow to print a page but as I don't print much, it won't pose a problem for me. The print quality is average.

    I didn't have any trouble setting it up but it is not particularly intuitive. The included setup disk indicates it's only compatible up to Windows 8.1 though a note did come with the printer saying it was compatible with Windows 10. I decided not to take any chances on the disk and downloaded the drivers for Windows 10 from the Brother's website. I set up the wireless network right on the printer. It connected fine and I can print from a Window's 10 laptop, a Window's 10 desktop and an iPad, no problem. It scans and copies well. It also has a built-in fax.

    I bought this printer because I'd read that Brother reliability was good and that it had the cheapest ink cartridges. Speaking of ink cartridges, the instruction book says when a cartridge is getting low, the printer won't print anything until you replace the cartridge. I found a way around this on YouTube that I'll have to employ to ensure I use all the ink before I replace a cartridge.

    All in all, I wouldn't buy this printer again.

    Bought this printer for the single-sheet-feed that it offers. It works, sort of, paper jams almost all of the time unless you dont load the paper first, then it spits the paper out and you have to reload. Also you have to press the touch screen each time to feed the paper. Disappointed. It does print, but its a pain in the ass, also, it does not align the paper well all of the time, about 1 in 4 pages is misaligned top to bottom so there is nothing you can do about it.
    I tried to return this but the company gives you a runaround making it not worthwhile to return, which is an effective way to stop returns (email them, wait, email again, wait, wait, email, told to talk to brother and go through a troubleshooting process which is a waste of time, then get return authorization, then return it, gave up on hold with Brother). Dont buy this get a different printer for single page feeding.
