These Dell displays are a home run for me - New Update
Been researching monitors for quite a while. Wanted dual daisy chained displays that worked primarily with work computer, an HP Probook Laptop, using a full size display port connection. Needed to multitask with mostly Microsoft programs, WebX, and video training. Also needed high end displays for my personal MacBook Pro using Thunderbolt port to Display Port. Just got both displays this past week (12/18). Connected from HP laptop to first display using monitor mini display port in. Set that port to Display port 1.2, like other users say here in comments. Then connected (daisy chained) from full size display port out to second full size display port in with cable purchased on Amazon. Powered up HP, powered on displays, and they both came up. Perfect, no issues. Been multitasking every day since. Really beautiful displays. Video/movies looked great too. I show a photo here where I extend an iPhone panorama photo across the two screens. Pretty cool. I haven’t had time to connect my MacBook Pro yet, but don’t expect to have any issues. I will use that primarily with photo editing, with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I purchased a Thunderbolt out (mini display port) to full size display port in for that connection. Recommend!Update, one week later: These monitors still working great with HP work computer. I did find, after a lot a work and reading, that the MacBook Pro does not support daisy-chaining (MST). So, if I only plug into one Thunderbolt port (I have Thunderbolt 2) on MBP, The displays only mirror each other. They don't extend. I could only extend between two displays if I separately connected the second display to the second Mac Thunderbolt port. Based on what I read, the OS does not support MST (Multi Stream Transport). I have MacOS High Sierra v10.13.6. If anyone else has been able to daisy-chain with one cable connected to the Mac, let me know.

Update 4-16-2016 - I have had this monitor for some time now. It is still a great monitor and I use it almost daily. I have it connected to two different sources now. I would like to add, if I could subtract just 1/4 of a star I would. It would be for the "buttons" on the front of the monitor for controlling the on screen menu, switching inputs, etc. Since I now use two sources frequently, I'm needing to switch inputs using the "buttons". They are very difficult to see and use in anything but bright daylight. It means that often I'm tapping blindly trying to find the right button to turn the monitor on/off and for bringing up the menu. Once the menu is up, it is easier because the "buttons" line up with indicators on the screen. But that initial wakeup/initiation of the on screen menu is a tiny bit of a pain. I wish they had a physical button or at least something like braille to "feel" where the buttons are when it's darker.

It reminds me of a Dilbert cartoon from[...] (I hope Amazon let's me link this cartoon).

My U2415 arrived in great condition - it is well packaged and secured. It comes with a number of cables for connectivity options, including USB and miniDP cables. This is a great way to get you up and running right away. I connect this monitor to my MacBook Pro 13" from 2014 via the mini display port and the included cable. It connects right away, every time. I often disconnect my laptop to use around the house, then plug it back in when at my desk. Within a couple seconds, it is reconnected and I've got a nice big 24" screen.

    Physical Functions:
This monitor does not swivel well. You can tilt it, raise it, lower it easily, but it takes some effort to swivel. This might be good for some, bad for others. Just keep that in mind. It has nice cable management through the stand and a little cover to help keep things looking tidy back there. It is a bit heavy and big - but it is a 24" monitor. It is beautiful both on and off.

    Ports/Etc:
This monitor comes with plenty of ports for all kinds of connections many simultaneously. You can read the specs for all the ports, so I won't five into that too deep. However, I will state the USB3.0 ports are great and I saw the same performance using a USB 3.0 drive connected directly to laptop as I did through the monitor. The bad about the USB - they are all in the back. This is not convenient for swamping out USB drives, etc. I still haven't found the optimal setup, but I have been using a USB3 hub for now.

    The Screen!
This has possibly the best screen I've ever seen. The colors look great - though I cannot verify their accuracy – it did come with a certificate from the factory indicating calibration. I have no reason to believe that is inaccurate. It does not have a glass coating which makes is super easy on the eyes. I’ve used it for hours on end, almost 12 hours one day during a marathon programming session, with no eye strain. It’s just the right amount of resolution too. 4K might be okay, but my laptop screen is almost too dense sometimes.
The backlight is very even for me, and I see no bleeding.
The off center viewing is great with little to no color change/distortion as you move away from looking at it directly.

    Controls:
Most of the controls are on screen – and it is fairly easy to use and navigate through. I really don’t use the controls much. I used source selection and power See update!

    Finally:
I would buy this monitor again. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great looking, calibrated, 24” monitor that supports multiple inputs and USB3.0.

Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2015
    Style: SingleVerified Purchase
This Dell U2415 1920 x 1200 LED monitor with non-glare screen and very thin bezel is an excellent choice for nearly any use, Mac or Windows.

The pixel density and size is the same as the discontinued Apple 24" LED Cinema display. Compared to that display, and the 27" Apple LED Cinema that I have adjacent to the U2415, I actually prefer the Dell for these reasons (and granted that Apple has not updated their displays in about 3 years):

    1. The color gamut feels equal. Images and pages look better.
    2. The non-glare coating is amazing. It is not so dramatic that it detracts from crispness or affects colors.
    3. There is less eye strain from the LED backlight. I don't know if this is due to the technology in the Apple display vs the Dell, but the same image that strains my eyes from glare on the Apple LED display is relaxing at a matched brightness on the Dell. Pretty much everything on the Dell is easier on my eyes.
    4. The pixel density - pixels per inch - while the same as the discontinued 24" Apple LED Cinema display, is greater than that of the 27" Apple display. For my over-60 eyes, I find the larger text on the Dell much easier to read.
    5. USB 3. Apple displays still have only USB 2 ports. Ridiculous. The Dell includes the device cable to enable these 5 ports.
    6. DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort. Both connections are on the back of the U2415. The included miniDP to DP cable can be used by Mac people by connecting the DP end to the U2415 and the miniDP to their Mac. For PC people, the opposite may be required depending on your graphics adapter.
    7. HDMI x 2 works for input for some PC's, and of course for video sources including mirroring iPads/iPhones (via Apple's lightning to HDMI adapter). Because of the 1200 pixel height (16:10 screen vs 16:9 HD content), HD video content will have black bars at the top and bottom.

Note that the Dell U2415 does NOT include speakers, a microphone, or a camera, three features present on Apple monitors. There is a speaker-out jack for audio arriving via HDMI and mounting slots for the optional Dell soundbar.

The steel gray finish on the plastic stand does not match aluminum, but is close enough to look decent with a Mac.

The thin bezel makes the monitor almost disappear and makes it ideal for multi-monitor situations.

I was looking at some cheap President's Day sale monitors and quickly moved up to this monitor for the features above, as well as my requirement that the monitor stand be fully adjustable with height, tilt and swivel to align it with my other monitor. I don't need to view things in portrait mode - although the U2415 worked beautifully while reading the local newspaper at near real-life size - but it's nice that the stand also supports rotation if I ever find a regular need for portrait orientation.

I should note that the monitor was fine, but too bright out-of-the-box with Brightness and Contrast both at 75%. I used System Preferences > Displays > Color > Calibrate to adjust the monitor for my display adapter and environment, and currently have Brightness at 52% and Contrast at 90%.

Finally, just to be sure I don't sound like an idiot, my comparison to the 27" Apple LED Cinema display is based on everything other than gross size and total pixels. Of course that 27" monitor has vastly more real estate and isn't at all an apples to apples comparison like the 24" Apple LED Cinema.

    Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent monitor, setup takes time and may require additional cables.
Reviewed in India on October 8, 2020
    Style: SingleVerified Purchase
    Initial Feedback:
Monitor is fine but to be expected given the price point. The biggest disappointment is that setting it up took a long long time and required additional external cables and not the ones provided with the monitor pack. None of the cables that came with the pack worked, the instructions to connect are not good. This is not ok considering the price point of the monitor.
Required an externally sourced HDMI cable and some work to figure it out to get it to work and caused enough stress as none of the cables that came along worked.

Further feedback post a month of usage.
Upgraded the rating to 3 star purely because the monitor is quite good as I have been using. Great clarity. It is a bit bulky and not easy to move around though. But adjustments through rotation, swivel etc. are fairly easy. However my feedback related to non provisioning of the connecting cables and being forced to use a self procured HDMI cable remains.

    Feedback after an year:
Have picked up a 2nd monitor to be used in a dual monitor set-up:
    a. The set-up and related issues around HDMI cable not being provided and being the only option to connect with modern laptops was an issue and continues to be, but once you get over this issue, is a brilliant monitor.
    b. Have noticed substantial reduction in fatigue factor compared to laptop screens and even other monitors I have used previously. On that count its very good. Should definitely be on the consideration set if long working hours, ergonomics, screen time fatigue are issues. Of course, need to spend some time setting up the monitor.
    c. Those looking to set this up as a 2nd monitor, please note that I have had to use 2 HDMI cables (sourced separately). The laptop had only 1 HDMI port, so had to purchase a USB-C to HDMI connector for the 2nd monitor. After this, one needs to do 1 settings update on the monitor - Go to Display settings on the monitor menu (not the display of control panel) and enable DP1.2 (it is disabled by default).
    d. Prefer this monitor compared to 2419 series due to the extra rows of data as this supports 1920x1200 as opposed to 1920x1080 on the 2419 series. In a home working scenario, space is a constraint and vertical screen space of this nature is very useful. 2415 has got very expensive off late compared to 2419 series but still got the same due to the extra space on the screen.
    e. The ease of converting this monitor is something worth considering, one can use this in a landscape or portrait mode. These changes are easy on the monitor.
    f. The monitor has large screen area and small boundaries, hence spanning an application across 2 monitors is not an issue and is seamless.

All in all, one of the best monitors to consider in a home working scenario. This is based on work related use cases, so cannot comment on movie watching/ games and other such scenarios.

Best monitor I have ever owned. I've used it approximately 6 months and have no complaints whatsoever. I purchased this because of a glowing review on WireCutter,

Screen: The screen has perfectly balanced colours, and a pleasing matte-like finish (without looking dull). I use it to surf, play games and watch movies. The blacks are deep and dark movies/shows look great (better than my big-screen TV).

Adjustability: The screen is very easy to adjust vertically. There is just the right amount of resistance to doing this, so that it is easy, but not easy enough that I accidentally move the position with a bump. The screen is also easily twisted to rotate it so that the long side is vertical instead of at the bottom.

Buttons: The on-button has a low LED that isn't annoying like others. The option buttons are not ''clicky'' buttons, but instead smooth and sense your finger. Overall they're fine.

Overall profile: Looks professional, sleek, and well-built. Very thin bezel and at 24'', the perfect size for everyday computing and gaming. I never find myself wanting a bigger screen, although I'm sure a 27'' version of this would be great too.

This is a part of a pair of monitors that I use when I work from home.

The size and the resolution is great, very easy to setup and crucially it supports DP1.2, which allows it to be daisy chained with a second monitor while having a single cable into my laptop.

I cannot fault this monitor at all, the colour reproduction is great it is nice and bright and the image it super stable.

    Love it
