I read a lot of reviews that were not very encouraging for prospective buyers but those with good experiences were more recent and as is true with any purchase, I took a chance. I have two other Husqvarna products that I purchased within the last year and found them to be reliable and easy to start. So far, this has worked quite well. It's much lighter than the previous hedge clipper I used, and the blade is much sharper. Reminder; if you want to extend the warranty on this unit for an additional year, be sure to purchase the Husqvana premixed fuel or the motor oil at the same time you buy the unit!!!

I have been using this for about a year now (on a weekly basis for 9 months of the year). Overall, I have been very pleased with its performance:
1) Starting it is easy and I have not had any issues getting it going
2) Does not take long to warm up and maintain prime
3) The adjustable handle works great. I was skeptical of the value of the rotating handle when I bought it but I am surprised how much I use it.
4) It cuts through branches up to an inch without much difficulty. I have used an echo in the past and the cutting capacity and ease of the unit is noticeable better than the echo.
5) The blade length is a good size and I don't think I would trade the lighter weight for a longer blade. I trim hedges that are between 4 feet and 8 feet tall and while a longer blade would occasionally be nice for the reach I have not problem holding this trimmer out over a large hedge. I have been able to use the unit for several hours straight without much arm fatigue.

This is the right tool for hedges, bushes, and evergreen bushes. I've been running an ion battery trimmer for 5 years. Having this gas powered trimmer is night and day. So much easier to use. Does much more. Smoother, more powerful, cuts much nicer. I can't believe I waited so long. My yard looks better already and in half the time.

As for this specific product, it has ran really well so far. Heavier than a battery trimmer. You might need to rest your forearms more often, but it cuts really smooth. It starts up fast every time. I enjoy trimming with it, whereas trimming used to be a dreaded task.

Works great after some initial glitches

The Husqvarna 122HD60 hedge trimmer works very well after some initial glitches. It cuts larger branches than my old trimmer could handle, due to the improved cutting blades and wider blade spacing. Initially the 2 stroke engine struggled a bit at full throttle, but I fixed that with a Poulan # 530035560 carb adjusting tool. After fine-tuning the H and L carb mixture adjustments with this tool, the engine now operates as it should. It actually cuts much better than I expected. I would give it 5 stars except that mine leaked gas/oil around the fuel tank grommet where the two hoses exit the tank. The grommet was defective. I took it to an authorized service center and had it fixed under warranty. The service tech showed me the original grommet, which had split about half way around. He also replaced the fuel hose with a higher quality hose. At this point, the trimmer works better than I had expected, so I'm giving it 4 stars overall.

UPDATE: I've used this hedge trimmer for over two years, and it's worked flawlessly since the two fixes were implemented. It starts and runs perfectly, and cuts much better than my older trimmer. I think the initial quality control could be improved regarding the grommet leak and fuel mixture adjustments. But at least the leak was fixed under warranty, and the special tool that I purchased here on Amazon can be used to fine tune the mixture adjustments as needed. I'd recommend getting the mixture tool regardless of how well it currently runs, in case of future performance issues. Most of my two stroke engines have required mixture and speed readjustments at one time or another. The newer ones are more tamper proof, so they may require special tools or removal of plugs in order to gain access to the mixture screws, as is the case here.

UPDATE 2: After almost six years of heavy use, the 122HD60 began stalling at idle. Forcing the choke partially closed smoothed out the idle, so I knew the fuel mixture was too lean. I used the special mixture adjusting tool to richen the L mixture screw on the carb and now everything runs great. It's mostly likely the result of the carb being slightly gummed up after six years of use. I also tweaked the idle speed screw so the blades don't move at idle, and the H mixture screw for best high speed operation. I'd recommend purchasing the special mixture tool unless you want to replace the carb every six years or so.
