Finally broke down and bought this KitchenAid Stand Mixer for my wonderful wife. She absolutely LOVES the stand mixer - and I love eating the products that this machine produces. The Mixer is powerful and extremely easy to use. The 5 quart bowl is enough to make several batches of cookies and a couple loaves of bread. The attachments that came with it are great - however, I highly suggest you get the scrapper attachment. We are looking forward to buying the pasta maker attachment so we can pig out on delicious italian food.
If you love to bake or live in the kitchen, this is a must have device.

Recommend all new purchasers to use a brush to wash all the attachments and bowl prior to using. I washed them only in the dishwasher and my first batch of mashed potatoes still turned gray apparently from a coating on the whip of the bowl.

I love my KitchenAid mixer. I've had a couple of different models (lift-type as well as tilt-type). I really love this particular model because it is lighter than my lift-type that I also currently have (and have retired). The color, Bay Leaf, is ok and more a blue/green than a more vibrant green (such as the canopy green). I did buy a glass bowl to have on hand with this mixer but unfortunately had to return the glass bowl as it did not fit which was a bummer (it was too wide and did not fit in the slot) though not sure why as it was recommended with the mixer.

I cook. A lot. So, this was an amazing anniversary gift to receive. I was thrilled to start mixing and baking. The first couple of uses, it’s perfect. However, upon mixing the first batch of pasta dough, the bowl became dislodged from the base. Mind you, I’m standing right there, so I hurry and switch it off, reposition the bowl, and start it back up. Same problem. Ok - so I switch to the dough hook. Same problem. I chalked it up to being stiff dough. Nope. Same issue with cookie dough before even adding all of the dry ingredients. I don’t know if mine has some kind of defect or what, but the bowl becomes dislodged from the base way too easily. And let me state: my mom has had the same exact mixer in red for like 20 years without this problem when mixing the same recipes. So I guess I’m back to using my hand mixer for cookies and just mixing my pasta by hand. Such a shame.

I like to cook occasionally, but I've never really made any bread, pizza, or baked any doughy foods. I read a lot about the kitchen aid mixer and decided to try it out. I picked the "bayleaf" color as it was like $20-30 cheaper.. The colour is not that ugly :P

The first week, I experimented on a few different types of bread including almond, grain, and just plain white. They turned out awesome. I then tried to make some pizza dough and pizza pocket dough (very similar to pizza dough) and they too turned out great. The kneading attachment does a great job and I don't have to sit there for 10 minutes doing it manually and can be productive doing something else.

The mixer itself is extremely sturdy, well built, and shows absolutely no sign of wear after about 4 months of abuse. Upon receiving it, I did notice a bit of greasy lubricant near the speed adjustment, but a wipe was all it needed -- no signs of leakage or anything funky since that initial wipe.

I really have nothing bad to saw about this mixer. It kneads and mixes extremely well and allows you to do other things, while it's doing its thing.

This is the little brother to my bigger mixer. It has the same HP as the larger mixer, but the taller bowl has a different mixing action that's good for smaller batches. Although this mixer has lots of power to do more, this product limits bread bakers like me to two loaf batches of bread. It has the power to handle higher gluten breads like 100% whole wheat with ease. If a user tries to do a larger batch of bread, the dough tends to want to crawl up the dough hook and then the user winds up cleaning the planetary head of raw dough. I use my bigger mixer for bread, and use this one for single or double batches of cookies. The larger the mixer you purchase, the greater the clearance between the blade and the mixer bowl. That only matters on things like cookie doughs, as bread doughs move around in the bowl on their own.

One other thing I find this mixer really good for is Swedish meatballs. Mixing meatball dough in this mixer causes the meat mixture to soften out, and be less grainy. It gives meatballs a wonderful soft texture and mouth feel. It's equivalent to double grinding the meat.

Kitchenaid makes excellent products. This is good mid to small size mixer. I also find the colour palette that you can choose from is amazing.

Have fun - this mixer is a definitely good addition to a cook's kitchen!

I really like my new mixer, it is absolutely the most fantastic shade of dark teal , and looks great in my kitchen. I leave it out on my island because of its great colour and design! I really like the power it has to mix up heavy batters and dough.The 5 quart bowl with handle is great for double batches.No dry ingredients in the bottom of the bowl like my old mixer.I would recommend it to anyone looking for a everyday( home use ) mixer.The handle on the bowl makes removal quite easy to remove and the clear plastic guard is easy to attach and remove. Bayleaf colour is so fantastic I think they should call it dark teal , as the name just doesn't match the rich colour! Looking forward to years of use.
