UH70120 Model
So, I've been watching the Hoover UH70120 for over a year. I missed a huge deal last year and noticed Consumer Reports still favors this model in 2017. I scrolled through my wishlist and noticed the price was low enough to pull the trigger without guilt. Why guilt?I've had, and enjoyed, a Dyson Animal for eight years. It still works perfectly fine, but I suspected that it wasn't cleaning deeply. Why? Because I have low-pile carpet and the Dyson doesn't have different floor settings. But, you spend serious coin on a vacuum - you need it to work for a long time. So, armed with a new vacuum with adjustable height - I went to town. I vacuumed the lower level after running the Dyson. I was able to pick up more dog hair and dirt/dust embedded deeper in my carpet. Woohoo! That alone makes me happy. Now, to the Hoover UH70120.Cord Rewind - a positive upgrade. It comes with standard bits - extension wand, dusting brush, and hand tool (miniature vacuum). The hose is 8 feet (shorter than Dyson), but I like that it doesn't surround a wand. On the Dyson, I had to replace the hose once due to wear and tear. Not a biggie. The Wind Tunnel is standard fare for bagless uprights. It is easy to remove and empty. This vacuum doesn't feel any lighter than the Dyson and I consider them to be a bit heavy.I've taken some pictures which I'll upload shortly. Assembly is required and takes a Philips screwdriver and about 1 minute of time. Two things. One, I will come back to update my opinion at any time there is a change (still runs great, has fallen apart, etc). I expect this to last several years. Two, as mentioned above, CS Buying Guide is: Shark NV581, Hoover UH70120, Dyson Ball Animal, Shark NV755, and Dyson Ball Multi Floor are the top five. The overall scores and price makes this Hoover a pretty solid deal.My only complaint - the cord. Perhaps I've been spoiled - but I wish this cord was longer. I can't vacuum the whole lower level (now) without having to change outlets.

I purchased this item after looking for recommendations through a subscription that I have with a consumer review website. After using the vacuum for a few weeks these are my observations.

First, this vacuum is a good size and features for our needs. We have medium rise carpet around our apartment and vinyl in the bathrooms, kitchen, entrance and laundry. It has 5 height settings, from bare floors to high rise carpets. I used the vacuum in the medium setting for our carpet and in the lowest setting for the vinyl floor areas. We noticed that it performed really well in the carpet. You could see the dirt and excess carpet threads accumulate in the bagless container. We did notice that the threads were spinning around the contained until they clumped together and got somewhat stuck inside the container. However, I did not notice a reduction in the suction due to that reason, nevertheless, I started emptying the vacuum after the dirt and threads started to get stuck. As for the bare floor, the vacuum performed well. You can actually notice how it performs more in the carpet than in bare floors, but still it cleaned the floors well.

Second, I tried to use this vacuum in two different individual carpets. The first carpet I attempted to clean was the one that most people use in their bathrooms when getting out of the shower. It was medium rise and with a rubber bottom. I was not able to use the vacuum with this carpet because the suction was so strong that it sucked a whole section of the carpet and got stuck. So, no more attempts to use this vacuum with this carpet. The other carpet is the one that we purchased for the entrance, for heavy traffic. The vacuum had no problems cleaning this one and left it really clean. I used the medium-to-low setting in this one and did a great job.

Third, the power cord is fairly long. It allows you to clean 1 room without connecting the cord in another receptacle. Also, please notice that the vacuum has a place to hang the cord near the handle to prevent the cable from getting under the vacuum (I noticed this feature a little too late during my first use, bummer). The cord is also self retractable when you push a button located to one of the sides of the vacuum. Very nice feature. You do not have to fight with the cable wrapping it around the vacuum.

Fourth, I used the hose adapter with the extensions to clean the corners of the carpet. The hose stretches a little bit and the adapters include a small version of the carpet brush the vacuum has integrated. The suction was extremely good, it did a great job. One of the corners of the carpet came off when passing the hose through it (not the vacuum's fault, just poorly installed carpet). I did notice that due to the suction, the hose contracted and was tough to stretch. The whole vacuum kind of followed me around when using the hose. It was a little annoying, but still it did the job that was needed.

Finally, the bagless container was fairly easy to empty but I made a few messes before getting the hang of it and I will explain. The container can be emptied from the bottom or the top. I emptied it the first time unscrewing the top portion of the dust container. When I unscrewed the top, some dust and dirt fell in the floor because it got stuck in the top part of the container. Be sure to have the container on top of your trash can when you open it. Then, I turned the container upside down and some dust fell on the floor due to the location of the air/suction opening. I turned the container upside down without noticing that this opening was facing down and spilled part of the dirt in the floor. After that, I paid attention to the position of this opening when emptying the container. The other option is from the bottom of the canister. I pushed the button to open it and nothing happened. I then tried to empty it through the top and the bottom opened and the dirt and dust fell through all the floor. The bottom opening got slightly stuck (New vacuum + Novice user = Mess!).

Regardless of the mishaps I had with the vacuum, it did perform very well when cleaning. I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to other people. Hopefully, other people are able to read this and not replicate my actions.

I vacuum my home weekly because I like a nice clean home. I have recently had a vacuum on each level. An old Hoover bagged upright downstairs, another old, larger model Hoover bagged upright on the mid-level and a Dirt Devil bagged upright upstairs. Also have an old Eureka bagged upright that is kept in basement and used to clean lint out of dryer and also used to vacuum out cars since the roller finally gave up. The Dirt Devil is light and easy to manuver, but does not have great suction so it is relegated to bathroom cleaning. The old Hoovers were used all over with the larger one used mainly in bedrooms and living areas. The smaller Hoover was used in kitchen and on stairs. One day after a long time of use, the smaller Hoover literally blew apart. Decided it was time for something newer and bagless. Bought this Hoover from Amazon based upon the reviews. The difference is night and day. Thought my home was clean with regular weekly vacuuming. Guess the suction on the old Hoovers has given up over the years. This new bagless Hoover is great and after a month of weekly use, it is still pulling stuff from the carpets. It is only myself and my wife...no kids...no pets, but we are the third owner of this home and have had the carpets cleaned throughout the home twice in 4 years. This vacuum is literally making the carpets feel newer. The suction is great, it is lightweight, easy to manuver and really quiet for a vacuum. Love the retractable cord. Super easy to use and is doing a great job...much better than expected. Vey happy with my purchase. So much so that I may get rid of the Dirt Devil and the other old Hoover and get another one of these. Also, can't beat the price. No way I would pay $400/500 for a Dyson. Get one!

I bought this bagless Hoover Windtunnel as a second vacuum for the upstairs portion of my house. I have been using a Dirt Devil "Vibe" (older bagged model) for about four years and was tired of constantly needing to carry it up the stairs.
First, a word about the DD Vibe - it is actually not a bad vacuum. I know DD takes a beating on the Amazon forums but my personal experience with my 4+ year old bagged Vibe model has not been bad at all. It works as long as you make some effort to take care of it; replace filters, occasional new belt, new bags, etc. (it is very heavy and bulky though). I mention this because I paid considerably less for the DD Vibe than I did for this Hoover model. So I would expect the Hoover Windtunnel to outperform the DD Vibe, which was not really the case.
Specifically:
Good:
1.) It is light (much lighter than my DD Vibe) and VERY easy to push around
2.) It is NOT bulky (unlike the DD Vibe)
3.) It is 12 amps (same as my DD Vibe)
4.) It is bagless (unlike my DD Vibe which is bagged -- I think I like bagless better)
5.) The cord rewind works really, really well (and is a feature the DD Vibe does not have)
6.) It picks up dirt very efficiently
7.) It is a sharp looking unit (as far as vacuums go...)
Bad (or, nit-picks):
1.) It is made entirely of plastic (same as my DD Vibe)
2.) It has no light (not really necessary, but my DD Vibe has one and it cost less!)
3.) The seal between the dust bin and the vacuum inlet does not look particularly solid
4.) I don't like having to manually stick a vacuuming attachment on the hose every time I want to spot vacuum. I use the angled edge attachment 99% of the time and would like to just leave it attached and be able to stow the hose. Can't do this on the Hoover, you have to take it off and store it separately on the unit. I know this seems like a trivial thing but to me it is quite annoying since the DD Vibe lets me do this.
Overall - tossup between the two. The Hoover has some features the Dirt Devil Vibe does not, and vice-versa. Bottom line is for what I paid to purchase the Hoover here at Amazon, I am satisfied I got my moneys worth and got the right product for my needs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product and performance for the price
Reviewed in Canada on November 13, 2013
The Hoover T Series Rewind is a good vacuum cleaner with lots of suction and an integrated cord carrying system. I have used this product heavily in the last 3 months and like a lot of things about it with only a few concerns.

This vacuum itself is shipped in two pieces in which can be put together in a matter of seconds. The canister, and tools are all fully assembled so it is pretty much ready to use in a couple of minutes.

The vacuum has a lot of suction and has never had a problem picking up anything whether using attachments or the main unit. It has a height switch to adjust the brushes to varying carpet levels as well as bare floor which it also excels at. It also has a mechanical gauge on the side of the canister that will tell you when the vacuum canister needs to be emptied which can come in handy if you are doing large rooms or not paying attention to the contents of the canister. Granted this gauge still requires you to look down so it still requires the user to be mindful of this. The cord rewind system is great and I have had no problems with it in the three months I have used it. Basically, it is a spring loaded system that loads when you pull the cord out and when you are done with the cord you can pull a lever and the cord winds back up within the unit. The lever to cause the cord to rewind is located on the base of the vacuum near the bottom of the canister and may be intended to use your foot to operate it. I personally use a hand as I feel there will be less chance of breaking it this way. I can see how if this feature was to break it would defeat the point of this model of vacuum and the user would have to find somewhere to store the cord.

The build quality of the vacuum is what is probably expected in most vacuums in the price range, plastic, plastic and more plastic. The vacuum is very light but it does not seem to be structurally rigid and you can feel this especially when you pick it up to take it up stairs. If someone was to be pretty rough with this product I do not know if problems would arise.

Having the HEPA filter and the washable filter is a nice touch as you can have the benefits of both. The washable filter collects a lot of the dirt and can clearly be seen on the underside of the filter when you take it out, and whatever gets through this filter is caught by the HEPA. The advantage here is if you keep the washable filter clean, the HEPA should not have to be changed very often. A cautionary note would be when you wash the filter it can take a long time to dry and you should not plan to vacuum again that day. I live with allergies and I have to say they are not made worse by using this vacuum and I would only look at vacuums with HEPA filters in the future.

I will update in the future describing how the vacuum and the cord rewind system has held up.

Pros
-good price
-lots of suction
-HEPA and washable filters
-cord rewind
-lightweight

Cons
-plastic construction (long term durability questions?)
-durability of cord rewind system remains to be determined

3.0 out of 5 stars Powerful suction but messy to empty
Reviewed in Canada on December 24, 2016
I bought this vacuum with the extra final filter and belt package The filters are not for this machine, thus a waste of money. I don't know if the extra belts are correct, but hope I won't be disappointed in the future when the belt needs replacing.

The vacuum itself has great suction and cleans carpets well. Too bad the tools don't include a couple of extension wands and a floor brush for hard floors and getting under furniture. The included suction powered tool is only moderately useful as quite a small amount of force to push the brush on furniture etc. will stall the rotating brush.

Bagless is all well and good, but this is messy to empty. Static electricity makes dust stick inside and outside of the container. Fluffy waste has to be pulled out by hand and/or by removing the top of the container in addition to opening the bottom hatch. Definitely have to empty the vacuum outside and into a large bag to try to contain try to contain the dust. Take a soft brush along to sweep off the dust that sticks to the dirt container.

Being able to rinse the filter clean is a good feature. It will clog up with fine dust (more than you want to admit came from your home!) And reduce the suction of the vacuum. It takes about a day to dry the filter, but then the vacuum is back to full power.

This is a decent machine for the price, but my review is made lukewarm by the difficulty in emptying the dirt container.

Reviewed in Canada on May 2, 2015
The suction is great and we have a cat - it is spring and our pet is shedding. The wind tunnel is really picking up the loose hair. That makes the vacuum fabulous in our house. Also it is easy to push around and agile for low cupboards etc. My only concern is that the little latch at the top of the canister is tricky. That is when you go to attach it to the machine after dumping out dirt etc. you need to slide it in carefully or it doesn't catch properly. In other words it takes more time to be really careful than I really want to take when moving around the rooms. However, when it does lock in properly I can lift the vacuum with the handle without fear of having the canister coming off. I am now in the habit of grabbing the vacuum out of the cupboard and using it on the floor rather than the broom I used to grab before for the quick clean-ups. All and all I would certainly recommend the Hoover Wind Tunnel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powreful Vacuum
Reviewed in Canada on March 9, 2016
- Seems to be a great vacuum. Sucks up stuff we never knew was there. Heavier than it's 20-year old Hoover predecessor, but I expect the motor is more powerful.
- The attachment hose is very short to be useful except in the immediate vicinity of the vacuum. However we have a canister vacuum for that. This is a replacement for an upright, so the short hose is OK.
- The inability to turn off the beater would be a shortcoming if we wanted to use the attachments. I understand there is an upgrade model where the beater can be turned off. If you want to use the attachments, that feature would be necessary (otherwise the beater beats the floor/rug all the time you are using the attachments).
- The cord rewind feels insubstantial and I expect it will be the first thing to go.
- The easy clean and replace filter system is nicely designed.

- After all that, it is a very good and powerful upright vacuum!

Pros
Pros
This is a great vacuum and I'd highly recommend it.
- Doesn't miss much on tile/carpet/area rugs. bare floor kickback of sand/small stones is minimal (every other one I've had was bad for this!)
- Retractable chord is the best part if you haven't had one with this feature get one! Retracts very well like that its a foot engaged piece to do this and its a good size/shape to engage with foot (people overlook how important that is.
- Lighter than most

Cons
- Suction hose could be a little stronger (needs a better switch shut off main vac suction so hose gets all).
- as with most vacs it is missing the shut off the damn beater bar for delicate or high area rugs.
- bottom roller wheels got squeaky fast nothing a little silicon lube couldn't quiet down
