People who are complaining of needing to spend $40 to send it into the lab..... I was given a quote from a local business of more than $600 just for them to do this same test.... such a rip off! SO- this is a much better price to be able to test and find out if your suspected place has mold or not. Thank you Mold Armor!

These tests were a great way to test for different types of mold. They provide the test, instructions, dish with gel to collect samples, and envelopes to mail in the results for analysis. We did 3 tests in different parts of the house (bathroom air, basement did swab of white stuff on the floor, and furnace vent). We paid about $30 per test for analysis and summary report of the findings. We were happy to confirm we don't have black mold, and the report reveled that small amounts of common molds appear in many households with tips and resources to reduce and remove instances of mold. We found that moisture control is the best preventative. In our case, running the vent fan during and after a shower and using a dehumidifier in the basement during summer time is a big help preventing mold.

The product is easy to use. It's like any other such kit on the market: pour the fluid in the dish, let it gel, then just leave it out uncovered for a bit, then cover it up and wait to see what grows (something will almost always grow).

The resulting growth has little value without getting an analysis, which is offered at an additional charge. That lab analysis is a selling point of this product.

Here's the problem: as of writing this there is no way to submit it. You are supposed to register your kit online in order to mail it in to the lab, but there is a message saying they are running behind by several days. However, despite that message merely stating that they are delayed, in reality there is no way to register AT ALL right now. Yesterday their website threw an error when you went to the registration page. Now it just redirects to a page that has no registration form. So you cannot submit your test for analysis, thereby making these kits little more than a home science project.

These should be taken off the market until Mold Armor is able to accept them for analysis again. Buy a different brand.

After purchasing this I realized the methological flaws of the test kit. Mold grows everywhere, even in the wind, so a test that shows mold tells you very little. You've got to mail the kit to a lab for a professional analysis, and this introduces a number of possible error points, plus the lab fee seems a little high. How hot was the mail truck on its way there? Who knows?
This kit would possibly be useful for someone who conducts a few hundred tests annually, who can identify mold species on their own, and who could properly correlate temperature- and moisture- controlled mold growth rates with the presence of mold. A tall order. Even so, they would have to have a solid methodology for sample collection, and even then I can imagine scenarios where their assessment of the situation was wrong. Plus if they were doing that many tests they ought to buy their own potato starch.

So I purchased this at my mothers request to get our house tested.

I had been deathly sick for 9 months. Lost 46 lbs due to gastro issue, was bed bound and feeling like I was about to die with absolutely no reason that anyone could figure out. Hundreds in medical bills and in reoccurring emergency room visits.

We set this up and a day later it was already forming colonies. We sent it out to get tested. Lo and behold it had three toxic species on the the description and one normal household mold. Anyway we moved out of that apartment and I’ve immediately started being able to slowly come back to eating and having less bizarre severe infections etc. I have chronic IBS due to the exposure but to think if I’d stayed there longer. I think my organs were starting to shut down so I’m beyond grateful there was a way to test that apartment before I’d gone into shock or something.

These guys were fast. Testing and results were fast. Really appreciate it! If you’re wondering if it’s worth it? It is.

I had previously wrote a review and only gave you one star but as you see I deleted that review. I kept waking up every morning itchy, stopped up and felt miserable. My nose was bleeding. About this test the first one I got that was damaged in the mail so they sent me another one and I sat it on the table and turned on the air conditioner so it would blow on it the petri dish for 10 minutes. And then I put it on the shelf for 2 days with the lid on it. I came back to it and it was covered with black gray and white fuzzy stuff mold. I wish I had kept the pictures and showed you the results. I did two Petri dishes and the same result. I'm pretty sure this mole killed my dog respiratory issues. I told my landlord she blew it off. Needless to say I moved. And there's mold in the air it leaves particles in the air and when it gets on your skin you itch and then you breathe it in and then affects your sinuses and your respiratory system. I didn't mail it off to that company because I was kind of leery of it after I read the reviews on it but I just want to say this stuff works. I don't know why people are only giving it one star and saying it doesn't work it works. Just have to know where the mold is put it up in your air conditioning vent and I guarantee you you will see something on that petri dish. Thank you from Texas. Just want to say the reason I didn't send it out to get analyzed was because the company from the reviews that I read were going into people's bank accounts and taking money so but the future dish and that stuff works you If you have mold to show up.
