Took a photo for proof of purchase before returning it and writing this review. Don’t buy it. I did everything the instructions told me to do. I made proper ice cream base and it sat in the fridge for a while day before I used the machine, so there was no doubt that it was cold. The instructions said to freeze the bowl that the ice cream base was gonna churn in for approx 16-24 hours. It was in my freezer for 2 full days. When I finally started to use it, I was excited but immediately disappointed when 2 hours of churning go by and all I’m left with is a somewhat thick liquid. Not even worthy of being called a smoothie. It’s a waste of money. A cheap product to fool you. And while it “churns” you can hear the rotor inside turn loudly. It sounds like a cheap rotor used in toy cars. And it turns sooooo sloowwwlllyyyy. How can you even consider that as “churning”. My dead grandmother can churn ice cream faster.
This is a great ice cream maker - my mom swore by those clunky ones that needed a ton of ice and rock salt, and she recommended this one. Pro-tip they aren't kidding about making sure the bowl is completely frozen. I froze the bowl for about 8 hours and my first attempt was a failure. After asking Mom, I put the bowl in the freezer the night before, and it worked great! My blackberry ice cream was a hit at the neighborhood block party. I do recommend keeping the bowl in the freezer if you have room so you can make it on the spot! :)
This freezer is so easy to use and the best thing is that there is no mess with ice and salt. I love it so much that it might be dangerous to my waistline! When I use the silicone containers to store the ice cream, there are no ice crystals in it. It stays spoonable!
It works perfectly and makes great ice cream. It is difficult to clean as the bowl is Frozen and so is the residual ice cream in it. You have to let it defrost completely for easy cleaning. And that takes extra time. Then you must refreeze it overnight before using it again. I may buy an extra bowl.
I had this model Ice Cream Maker before and the motor burned out on it. So this is the second one of this same model. The first one did a great job of making ice cream and the only feature of it that I found somewhat annoying was that it was fairly noisy. This one does the same great job of making the ice cream but it is even a bit noisier. Thus the four star rating and I hope its motor outlasts the first one.
