Top reviews from the United States

I have purchased earlier versions in the past, but this is by far the best! So if you're looking for a remixing and mastering program that has it all look no further. It is the best version yet.

I've waited a few months to write this review since I figured that Pro Studio 8 was bound to have a few bugs on release. What I didn't figure was that months later, the program would still be so full of bugs that it's essentially a software paperweight.

Mixcraft Pro Studio 7 was a brilliant DAW and still is. All of my third party WAVES plug-ins worked perfectly on it and it never crashed. I wish I could say the same about Pro Studio 8. I am constantly experiencing crashes when I try to load up a plug-in (even in VST3 format - these crashes don't happen on Cubase or Ableton, so I know it isn't WAVES' fault.) Also, the software doesn't work as well with my Focusrite Scarlett18i8 the way its predecessor did, though I'm finding that it works okay... sometimes... with my Yamaha MG mixer). Also, the overall feel and user interface is less friendly - it seems counterintuitive to say this since it's basically using the same structure as its predecessor, but once you start getting into the submenus, Pro Studio 8 is a bit of a mess. There are more features with this new version, but what good are those when you can't even get the basic things to work?

I get clipping on the same audio files that run fine on Version 7, even if all my preferences are set to the same parameters. There have been almost weekly patches to this program since I purchased it (the day it came out,) which leads me to believe that they released this WAY earlier than they should have. Seriously, I feel like it's still in Beta mode.

Nothing about this DAW would incline me to give it a 5-star review, and frankly, I'm a bit amazed that others see Mixcraft Pro Studio 8 as a 5-star caliber software package. I hope that with future updates, the bugs will begin to disappear, but right now, this software is so buggy, I've just gone back to using Pro Studio 7. Even Ableton Live 9 gives me fewer headaches than Mixcraft Pro Studio 8 and that's saying a lot.

UPDATE (May 2017): Mixcraft fixed the problem with the Waves Plug-Ins... sort of. You can use them now, but when you try to save the file, the program gives you a fatal error message and crashes back to the desktop. Keep trying Mixcraft. I'm still hoping that someday, you'll have an "upgrade" version that actually works as well as the last one.

UPDATE (September 2017): I'm still getting some occasional jutter on playback when I'm working with filters (FX). However, the overall experience with this software has improved since its launch and it doesn't have any problems converting project files to standard formats (wav, mp3, etc..) I've experienced crashes on a few occasions, but that seems to be connected with my anti-virus software (Kaspersky) and the crashes appear to stop when I pause the anti-virus software prior to opening Mixcraft 8. I continue to feel that Mixcraft 7 is an overall better experience, but in order to keep up with the times, Pro Studio 8 is required to utilize newer plug-in formats. I'm bumping my review from 2 to 3 stars since Mixcraft has continued to hone the software into something that is now more or less reliable. It's taken a long time to get to this point however, and it's clear that Mixcraft should have spent more time beta testing the software before releasing Version 8.

[UPDATE(1/23/17): Mixcraft Pro Studio 8 is now available with some great upgrades; this review applies pretty much equally to this new version.]
I am a professional music producer and Mixcraft Pro Studio 7 is my go-to DAW. It is the easiest to use and provides most every feature I need. This seventh version was recently released and comes in both 32 and 64 bit versions. It is loaded with improvements(but even the previous version was great!) and really blows the competition away! The improvements include new synths, presets, sampling software, a much improved help manual, and much more. Not only is this the best overall DAW on the market, but the price is among the lowest. Combine this with great tech support and you have an unbeatable tool. I have mentioned some suggestions to Mixcraft over the years which I wish they would include. In particular, there is only one feature not included which forces me to occasionally resort to Ableton: continuous transposition of audio files. It is an important tool in such applications as cinematic music. They could accomplish this by just supplying a transposing plugin and then it could even be used in automation. Even Ableton doesn't automate that feature. I should also mention that Mixcraft allows very easy use of plugins. Both the 32 and 64 bit versions will even recognize and utilize both 32 bit and 64 bit plugins. Even Ableton doesn't do that. So, if you are shopping around for a DAW and think there must be something wrong with this because it is so much less expensive than some other popular ones, I can assure you that is not the case. This is the best!
By the way, I notice in the description that it mentions 18 virtual instruments. That is an error. There are hundreds of virtual instruments! They might be referring to the number of underlying synths that are used to create various virtual instruments, but there are many, many virtual instruments from kotos, dulcimers, Irish bagpipes, pianos, guitars, banjos, timpani, glockenspiels, glass harmonicas, accordions, bassoons, oboes, and pretty much everything else!
