Product Description
Experience the complete joy of shooting with a compact, ultra-wide-angle zoom
This ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for APS-C DSLR cameras offers the finest of all Tamron worlds: best-in-class* 10-24mm focal length range (the 35mm equivalent of 16-37mm), the compact size of our previous SP AF10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical [IF] (Model B001), plus vastly improved optical performance. It also includes state-of-the-art Tamron technology like VC (Vibration Compensation), a new HLD (High/Low torque-modulated Drive), Fluorine Coating, and Moisture-Resistant Construction. Combine this with exceptional resolution on everything from detailed landscapes to casual snapshots and you have a next-generation, wide-angle zoom that’s ready to go wherever your photographic vision takes you.
Excellent optical performance across the entire zoom range
The optical design includes 16 elements in 11 groups. A new large aperture aspherical lens and LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements deliver exceptional resolution across the complete zoom range— combined with stable imaging across the entire frame. The lens also corrects comatic and transverse chromatic aberration, as well as distortion that often crops up on other wide-angle lenses. Together with Tamron’s unique BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating, which improves light transmission and suppresses reflection and dispersion on the lens surface, this new ultra-wide-angle zoom has been entirely reimagined to control flare and ghosting. The result: clear, crisp images, every time.
VC lets you go wherever your vision takes you
Tamron’s unique VC (Vibration Compensation) technology makes it easy to enjoy handheld, wide-angle shooting, even in low-light environments such as evening and indoors. While maintaining the compact design of our previous Model B001, Tamron has optimized the actuator and control algorithm in order to incorporate VC into our new Model B023. Now you can unleash the power of high quality imaging, without worrying about your images being spoiled by the jittery effects of handheld shooting.
HLD meets highly precise AF
With this lens, Tamron introduces the HLD (High/Low torque-modulated Drive) AF drive system. The excellent driving power of the all-new HLD enables stable and precise focusing, even with the large focusing lens elements used on Model B023. What’s more, the Full-time Manual Focus override allows you to make fine adjustments—without having to switch from AF to MF mode.
High performance packed into a compact body
A shortened overall length vastly improves optical performance while maintaining a compact size—even with advancements such as VC and the newly developed HLD. When combined with an APS-C DSLR camera, this lens packs a world of performance into a lightweight, portable body.

The image stabilization mechanism is one of the best. I was able to capture sharp picture at 1/5 shutter speed. This is a metal body lens with weather sealing, which is an added advantage. This lens also has a distance scale which could be useful for Nikon Kit lens users as Nikon Kit lenses are without distance scale and few quick switches (AF, VR). In the low light the lens perform very well due to image stabilization. Due to image stabilization, I someone could easily use slower shutter speeds to get sharp low light IQ. Overall I am impressed with this lens.

Pretty dam good lens! Got it back after the 1st of the years and used it almost exclusively it was weird going back to my 18-55 kit. I used it 50/50 convention/ nature.
Indoor works well with low light, not poor lighting, people mostly cosplay and costumes come out well. Not it’s intened design but crowded space I don’t need a lot of room to nab groups nor lager costume. Good group shoots as I can get 30 easy 90 (with a ladder) but I like if for the full body shots 2yds away. Some software lens correction is recommended but 😒 even other con photographers haven’t given me shit for the post right off the camera pictures. Suck at long distance so make sure you move your feet if you want the shot.
Nature photography is perfect as long you’re not do wildlife. I do landscape, sunrise/ sets and nightsky. I can occasionally get the lens to do macro with shallow depth but yeah looks elsewhere if that’s your bread and butter. I love do Panoramas! The wide ass veiw turned 90 degrees works well with pictures greater than 4 frames as it gives more higth to the finnal picture.
I love the manual overide even with the AF still on, yeah that comes in handy.
Small draw back is it’s prime reason I got it was the wide field of view. Needless to say I find it to be a love hate relationship. The larger 77mm opening makes it harder to use with my smaller bag.
The camera lens weight isn’t too bad against a Nikon D7200. And the lens hood leaves a flash shadow if you use the build-in flash 😒 FYI here if you need a quick fill flash, steep back or shift target human/ camera.
Back end with people photoshop does a every well job correctly adjusting for the lens but it is an extra steep. I found it a lost less stressful with pop up group shots in dealer dens areas at conventions and just not needing a lot of space to capture a full human being with oversized weapons, wings, horns, and/or tail is and not loss details like hair nor fur is pretty cool. Fursuit (furries), Knight and Jedi Knight, super hero’s, transformers, storm troopers, finall fanisty, ghost busters, even the hulk buster come out 😒 if you set the camera right. They seem to come out with not much difference from normal work flow. The wide angle help nab the balcony shots to grab the scale of how big some convention are.
Same thing with nature like waterfalls pandora. I just need 3 at times, smaller pandoras footprint helps my pc complete one faster. Also allows for more picture for the panorama.
So used right it’s sweet.
😒 I also dropped it once and we’ll mine still works! (Yeah my heart stopped)

My only concern it the warranty here in Canada. When my order was placed it was stated that toe supplier was Amplis Foto Inc, Markham, ON, CA. The lens originated in the USA. Documents indicated that there was a 5 year warranty in the USA. No mention whatsoever/anywhere of a Canadian warranty or how to go about enabling one.
