Yes, you have to set up the Sengled app and then use the Alexa app. But really it isn't difficult. Plug in the hub to your router. The bulbs are already synced to the hub from the factory. So it's plug and set up. I had the lights going in a matter of minutes. It was very easy for me to set up. I even purchased more Sengled bulbs and they were simple to add and set up. Overall I really liked my combo.

I originally just wanted the echo, but thought the package deal with the bulbs would be a nice addition for the price. The set up and execution of these bulbs just to pair it with the echo is pretty poorly executed. If I would have known all this from the start I wouldn’t have purchased the package. It’s bad enough that you have to connect this square device to your router and follow all these benine instructions, but you also have to download there app so you have to have the Alexa app and there app to set it up. Too many steps and apps to worry about. This is supposed to make life easier not create a new set of hoops and problems to jump through.

Worst product ever. Broke after the first week and customer service is awful. Avoid at all costs!

Please think twice about purchasing a device that records your conversations without your knowledge or approval. I was alarmed by several random things this device said and even more concerned when I found out how often the device recorded without being asked to. Investigate before you buy.
