My garage door went from a clackety, shaky, noisy, always sounding like it was going to fall off the track to a brand new quiet, smooth, high tech. piece of machinery.
1. Easy to install with easy to read and understand instructions.
2. A lot of great and surprising multiple attributes that I would never have thought of and appreciate.
a. The inside wall switch is simple to operate and intuitive.
b. Inside switch shows the time and temperature of the garage with an error message if something goes awry.
c. The lights are bright and a great addition to the existing garage work lights.
d. The auto on and off motion sensor is crisp coming on the moment I step into the house/garage doorway.
e. Programing the wall remotes/switches is quick and simple. The vehicle ones were connected out of the box.
f. A couple of times when I closed the garage door it started so quietly that I had to stop and look the see it
was working. I'm used to my old door making the most noise at the start of the open and close cycle
where it experiences the most torque. The Chamberlain is smooth and quiet through the complete cycle.
g.The Chamberlain slows down a few inches before fully closing and opening. I speculate this is to save wear
and tear on the door and closer.
I fully recomend this opener.

Old opener died, for the replacement I wanted one with belt drive and a wifi interface so I could check on my phone to see if the door was open. The main alternative brand seemed to have more integrated features (like Alexa interface instead of only Google? Hello Chamberlain, what's up with that!!) but there were far too many reviews with problems.

The Chamberlain B550 met my initial requirements, but the reviews on the Chamberlain web site rated the B750 significantly higher, in my opinion in a large part due to the B750 having 3/4 HP equivalent motor instead of the 1/2 hp on the B550. I could get a B750 locally for about $200, but I'd have to purchase the Genie GDO rated light bulbs separately, so that would have been another $20. This model (B1381) was rated even higher (4.6 vs B750/4.1 vs B550/3.5), and included battery backup and built in LED lighting. At the time I purchase this it was available for $270. Even at a higher price, if you consider the average lifespan of an opener is 120 - 180 months (10 - 15 yrs), your looking at a $1 a month or less for the extra features.

Now that the opener is installed (paid Amazon for installation, well worth it in my estimation) and setup with my home wifi and phone app, I am thrilled with it. It raises and lowers at about the same speed as my old opener. The opener is way quieter than my old chain drive unit. The actual noise from the garage door itself? The opener can't fix that - next project is replacing all the track wheels. The garage control is really cool, it not only has the button for the garage door itself but a separate button if you want to manually control the lights on the opener plus a small screen that shows the current temperature and the status of the backup battery in the unit. Not only that, but the control also includes a motion sensor - it's activated so all I have to do is step into the garage and the opener lights come on. I have a two stall garage and the lights do reach all four walls and corners. If you have a garage workbench you're probably going to need some additional light but it is certainly adequate for most other purposes.

I hope to never need the battery backup but we have on rare occasions had power outages. I have always been able to pull down on the safety release and manually lift the garage door, but with this I can just use the standard control should a power outage happen. I haven't tested to see how far the range is for the opener controls but I've tried it 3 - 4 houses away and it works at that distance. The one downside to this opener (and al modern openers) is that a couple of years ago everybody switched to a new secured opener/control interface do if you have an older HomeLink mirror you're going to have to purchase an add-on adapter if you want to continue to use the mirror interface.

The last few things 1) the MyQ phone app interface - I can check at any time to see if my garage door is open, and can even open/close the door through the phone app 2) the external wireless touchpad. Don't know if I'll ever use it but I gave the code to my kids in case the forget their house keys, also has the ability to set a temporary guest code if you have family from out of town visiting, and 3) you can set it up with Amazon where their delivery can open the garage door and leave your package(s) secure in your garage when they are delivered.

I have a 3 car garage and I installed 2 of these garage door openers you want for less then what I paid a professional installer to install 1. And I would recommend anyone with moderate DIY skills to do the same... And the results are so satisfying!

Full disclosure, I was installing these garage door openers as replacements for existing ones that I'd stopped working.

It's daunting at first, when you first open the box and that are all these parts that you have to deal with. But like any project if you lay them all out, update the time to watch the installation video, it's pretty doable. The steps walk you through dismantling the existing garage door opener and what you need to do one by one, to install the new one. My wife helped me when needed, as there are a few steps where two people actually make life a while lot easier.

Since the wiring was already done for the old garage door, I took pictures of which wire's go where - which made installing the wires on the new garage door way simpler.

I love this new garage door for multiple reasons:

1. Programming the travel of the garage door, to where it stops and starts, is pretty easy.
2. The noise level is almost non-existent. Our bedroom is right on top of the garage, and we barely hear them now.
3. The motion sensor works great and the LEDs in these garage door openers make all the other lights in the garage redundant.
4. The battery backup is great and will be an asset for those who don't have a generator backing up that house.
5. The LCD display and menu on the garage door opener button make programming the garage door openers, cars and wifi connections easy to navigate.
6. The Wi-Fi connection an app are lifesaver, to know if your garage is open or closed when you're not in the house - and being able to close or open them remotely.

The 1381 was a significant upgrade from my previous chain driven garage door opener. The belt drive is very quiet and doesn’t sound at all like my previous door opener which growled like an un-oiled 50cc two stroke. Install was a little time consuming but simple enough, all the wires used for the garage door opener are basic double wires so with some marretes or in my case some solder you can reuse any previous garage door wiring. It should also be noted the exterior combination controller works with a 9v battery and is wireless. Some of the features I found about after the install were; The safety sensors come with mounts that clamp directly onto the garage door rails really nice if you have exposed concrete foundation where the sensors are supposed to be. There are multiple settings available from the LCD door opener time/battery reserve/an auto close timer 1-5min/remote lockouts/and quick programming of new remotes and their features (lights). Programming the door raised and lowered heights is accomplished digitally directly on the motor and was also very straight forward. A lot of the complementary apps that allow you to control your garage door through wifi are pay to play but the included myQ app works well enough and is a nice additional peace of mind if you frequently forget to close your garage door like me.

The 3100 lumen lighting is quite nice.

I have a single gripe and that is the maximum timer on the motion sensor lights is 4.5 minutes I would have preferred 15-20 but as I mentioned before you can program the lights to any button on your remotes and I am still undetermined if they follow the same 4.5 minute timer when activated manually.
