Great Budget TV and PC Monitor. Beware 5ghz wifi will cause the wireless to stop working.

Great Budget TV and PC Monitor. Beware 5ghz wifi will cause the wireless to stop working.
I bought this monitor as a budget TV to use with my computer for watching movies, and general internet use. Picture is very bright, clear, and very good for what I intended. Supports YCbCr444 so text is clear and crisp. But there is a MAJOR ISSUE that I think everyone should be aware of. The H8F can detect 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi signals. But if you attempt to connect to 5ghz the wireless on the TV will stop working completely. I have done so many factory resets it still won't work again and can't detect any wifi networks at all anymore. The wireless MAC address in the Help screen is showing as 02:00:00:00:00:00 which is definitely not right and is probably the main cause of the problem. Another consequence of the Wifi chip not working is that Bluetooth is dead too. It shows as Unavailable and the remote mic won't pair thus rendering Google Assistant useless as well. Ethernet works fine though, but adds another unsightly cable running around. I hate doing returns but if I can't get a fix for this issue, then that will be my only choice.Update 11/20/19 - Got the replacement TV a few days ago. Wifi and Bluetooth work as expected with no issues. But the color uniformity on this replacement is a little worse than the first. The first one had very good uniformity when looking at light gray or blue screens. This replacement has visible dark spots and striping and dark corners. Watching TV and Movies is not an issue, but really bugs me to know that the uniformity is not as good.

I bought the Hisense 65H8F model, I have only had it for one day. And so far I am loving it, it does have a free bad things about it, but overall it went above my expectations. I have always owned Samsung or LG TVs but decided to give Hisense a go for to bring able to have Android TV for cheap. Not my peeps and cons are based on the hardware not the software as it can be updated fairly easily unlike traditional smart TVs.

    Cons:
    Dark corners of screen
Brought white colors seems to cause minor bleeding
    Legs seems flimsy
Screwed for mounting hardware are you short and get small.
    CPU could be faster
Lack of storage space, could be higher for little $$.
    Pros:
    Amazing picture quality
Very light tv, way handles to left by
    Virtually no bezel
    Very comfortable remote
Supports ARC, eliminating cables to sound system.
240 motion rate makes video look amazing
HDR allows the long night to be seen unlike either of Samsung TVs.

Now a free weird about how I used it tonight. Loaded up all my favorite Google apps, YouTube tv, youtube, Google play movies, along with hbo, steam link.

First off I didn't expect steam link to work so well. I have Google WiFi and it streamed the Witcher in 4K to my TV with no noticable lag, tried a lot of other action games as well such as gungeon and Sine Mora, and battlefield 4. All played extremely well.

4k content played extremely well though I didn't not have an Ethernet cable plugged in, it loaded and buffered to 4k within about 30 seconds. This is due to only having an 80 mbps connection.

As above watched s8e3 the long night off hbo, the dark scenes we're clear and easy to see, watched it in broad day light with shares open on a 75° day with lots of sun. Again no issues at all.

YouTube and YouTube seemed to be a bit slow.

Default browser was not tried but I downloaded Brave and worked great, watched YouTube fatser hen YouTube app.

Synced Google mini and Bluetooth controllers to tv, they all worked great.

Google Home has not been able to find my TV, but that may be my Google home, it's been dying for a few days and doesn't responded like the other ones in my house. With that, my bedroom Google mini could control the tv just fine, but still can't add to my Google home app.

I'll update again in 30 days. If my cons don't steer you away you will love this tv, and love the price you paid even more!

Update: So bit longer than 30 days, still loving the TV, it is fantastic I have told many people about it and they too have ordered it. No its not the best on the market, but its amazing for what it costs. Everything i said still holds true. Fantastic product.

I bought this TV because it seemed to be a good balance between price and function. I couldn't be more wrong.

Firstly, I use an optical cable to connect to my sound bar. The optical cable worked just fine with the old TV. Now, this TV will randomly not use the optical input at all, forcing me to reboot over and over again in hopes that it'll start working. Can't use bluetooth as there is a noticeable delay between audio and video.

TV takes more than a minute to restart and the menu is laggy as hell.

Picture quality is okay until you get to movement. Lots of screen tearing.

Want to use this on a multi monitor setup? Too bad, the TV is not recognized most of the time by the computer, and lags atrociously.

The final straw today was the input button dying on my remote. All other buttons work fine, but the input button ceased to work.

I can confidently say that there has not been a single day where this TV did not cause me grief. Lesson learned here is that going with cheap off brand TVs is more hassle than it is worth. Now to stuff this sucker back into the box and get a real TV.

Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2020
My review is of the 55" Hisense 55H8F. It came box within a box. Some have complained about damaged boxes which resulted in damage to the set. Someone listened, in late March 2020 my set arrived in a sturdy box which tightly wrapped the television set box. The television set box from Hisense was weak, and likely it never should have shipped with that box alone. Otherwise the set was well packaged, and had no damage.

Physical set up is trivial, it required me to only attach the legs of which there are 2. Each leg is attached to the set by 2 phillips M5 bolts which are included. The screwdriver is not included. There are 2 options to attach the legs to the body of the set. One wider, one more narrow. I selected the narrow area as my TV shelf wasn't long enough for the longer leg base length.

The set requires either a smart phone / tablet or a computer / laptop to set up in terms of software. It automatically detects physical Ethernet and doesn't prompt for wireless if Ethernet is working. The power cord is about 5' long (U.S. version) and is a 2 prong plug. Power is on the back far right as you look at the set, Ethernet, HDMI and all other inputs (USB and what not) are on the far left.

Using a PC connecting my Google account did not require entering a password. Just a code which was sent to my device. Same for my Amazon account. Until an update was done, Amazon Video wasn't an available app. Once the software was updated Amazon Video appeared as an installed app.

Setup overall was easy. Amazon Video, Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and Youtube TV installed without any need to enter a password, just had to enter codes which were either texted or emailed to me by the providers.

In terms of responsiveness, it is as good as any other Android TV I have used (which would be Sony and Skyworth. The picture is better than the Sony, but about the same as a Skyworth. My Sony sets are a bit older, so the technology has likely improved.

4K looks awesome on all services, and HD isn't bad. Overall if you are looking for a low cost Android TV set this is a very good offer in my opinion. Other apps which I use all worked without issue. The Google Store is there, with it's Android TV limited selection. Overall it was easy to set up, and has a very nice picture. I can't rate durability, not until the set dies, which will hopefully be in at least a few years. The build seems OK, it is a bit thicker than my Skyworth about the same thickness as my 4 year old remaining Sony Android TV.
