Throughput is definitely lacking. Lags quite a bit. Checks out occasionally. I've never waited for a page to load when connecting to my AC3200 Router.. yet for the brief 10 minutes I had it running.. I did! Don't waste your money

Others have documented problems with disconnection (at least 3 times a day in my case). This was never a problem with my previous range extender, an Engenius.
I have not been able to access the Netgear helpline because I am unable to register ( I am continually told that my serial number is incorrect). To complain or ask for help to register, I have to register before I can register to describe this & other problems.
The retailer refers me to the Netgear website (I live in the country)..
I am trapped in a circular argument with no way out.
Buy this if you are a masochist. When it works it's OK, but the disconnections and associated nonsense from the makers are too much.
I've awarded one star, but I tried to make it zero.

24 hours later: I have registered with a valid serial number! The problem was difficulty in spotting the difference between a letter O and number 0 on the baseplate. Having done so, no comment from support yet on disconnection problems.
So: now a 2-star award.

Absolute Trash!

My family bought this extender a few years ago and have always had problems with the connection, most of the time we usually ignore it as this extender is used to expand the coverage from the second floor (where the modem is), to the first floor. At least until we set a gaming rig in the first floor, connection to games is constantly dropped, which renders any online game unusable. At first we thought it was the thick concrete of the second floor interfering with the signal (even though the mode and extender are very close to the upper and lower landings of the stairs).
However, the problem got worse with time, the last time I checked the connection speed it was aroud 200 Kbps, down from 10 Mbps. Again, the concrete may have been the problem; BUT we moved the extender to the second floor, a couple meters from our reliable modem for testing of the signal, and alas! the internet speed coming from the extender was just as bad.
We have two of these, one for two different home networks, and both work just as horribly. This means it wasn't a problem with our unit. My advice, is DON'T BUY THIS, it has an absolutely outrageous performance and will give you years of headaches.

This little guy is amazing. It manages to grab a signal from your modem / router, and pass it along to your wireless device even weaker than the distant modem itself! Now that's some serious signal-reducing technology! How do they do it? That's the secret. But not one that you should really care to investigate. Find a different product...
