5.0 out of 5 starsGREAT machine. Love it!
Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2018
I have a tiny house and a tiny kitchen and almost no storage, but I LOVE to cook. I had an old, cheap food processor that was a pain in the butt to dig out of storage to use and then didn't do anything well anyway. So for a long time I just ignored recipes that said anything about using a food processor, until a couple of weeks ago when I hit a recipe that smashed my 'we gotta try this!' button. I caved, and traded in my busted Yugo of a processor for this Land Rover prep machine. I am so glad I did!

After I'd used it twice I MADE room in my kitchen to keep it handy all the time. It performs fantastically, giving me a ton of control over how to process the various foods. The dicing feature is a dream come true, I diced four pounds of carrots and sweet potatoes (for roasting for soup) in less than 90 seconds. The smaller-bowl option is super-handy, and the variable feed-tube sizing makes processing things like carrots and celery so much better.

Yeah, it was a bit spendy, but I believe I really got what I paid for. Love this thing. Oh, and if you buy one, heed all the warnings about the blades. They are blazing, wicked, HELLA sharp. :)

*Edited 6/14 to add I have now added some killer recipes to my repertoire: chicken & sausage gumbo (dicer!), fresh-berry scones (dough blade!), graham cracker pie crust (processor blade!)... and more I can't even remember. Last weekend I was given a big box of fresh, ripe peaches. It took me a couple of hours to get them peeled and pitted but mere seconds through the dicer I had perfectly diced fruit for jam and all that luscious juice. I am having an absolute ball finding new ways to use this thing.

And the icing on the cake: It still amazes me how quick and easy this thing is to clean up. Man oh man I freakin' LOVE this machine. And so glad I bought the 14-cup one instead of something smaller. Love love love.

1.0 out of 5 starsI am on my 3rd replacement in 5 years.....poor quality
Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2023
I have owned 3 KitchenAid 13 or 14 cup food processors over a 20 year period. The two most recent need to be replaced every 2 years ( purchased in 2019 and again in 2021 and now need to replace it) due to plastic drive adapter overheating and melding together. I used the last 2 processors much less than the original one I bought in ~2004. I used to cook for large gatherings (20 -100 people) with my original purchase. The bowl cracked and I couldn't find a replacement so I purchased an new 14 cup processor with a slicing disc in 2019. I didn't use it very often because I moved and my kids left home. Just cooking for 2 people. Nevertheless both recent models from 2019 and 2021 had problems with the drive shaft adapter over heating and melding to components. I do not think they are made the same anymore. I will be purchasing another company's processor - fool me once, fool me twice......this seems to be a consistent quality issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding machine would recommend to any serious cook!

Very powerful! Easy to clean as far as food processors go. As a retired chef having used many different brands and sized processors I can say I am impressed. Has a "mini bowl" insert that is nice for small amounts and makes it easier to clean. Does a good job. Material keeps mixing with minimal need to scrap the inside during mixing/chopping. Customer support was right on top of it too. The dicer attachment is a cute gimick. Personally for dicing I am faster with a knife given the clean up time involved with the attachment. Maybe if I had A LOT of dicing and they had a 1/4" dice grate I would consider using it. That's the only drawback I've seen. Good machine so far, I expect it will be for years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't blink - amazing machine
Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2016

I have wanted a food processor for years but I wanted it to do all the normal food processor job plus chop. When I saw this had the chop attachment, I bought it and have not regretted it for a second. The quality and speed of this machine is awesome. I rarely need to use the food pusher. The power of this processor pulls most food in as fast as you blink. I put a whole medium sized potato in to chop, hit the low button, and it is chopped into perfect little cubes in about 2 seconds. It takes a couple of times of setting it up to get used to it, but once you do, it is quick and easy. The show The Kitchen on the Food Network has a segment where Geoffrey Zakarian races against automated systems to see which is faster, the man or the machine. Usually the man wins. I think this is one time the machine would win.

The chopper attachment comes in a nice storage container and all of the other parts come in a second storage container. A little brush for cleaning the small nooks and crannies is included.

I would strongly recommend this product. My daughter she would recommend you don't blink.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior device. Very powerful.

I am so glad that after long search I decided to go with this model. It does work with ease. Very versatile and easy to work with. The only complaint to Amazon, that proposed additional accessories are not exactly suitable for this model. This model has regular opening for vegetables and julienne disk is almost unusable with this model. It designed for 13 inch models with wide opening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hate food prep? This is your new best friend.
Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2017

Love this food processor. It took a bit to convince my husband we "needed" a food processor, but we use it once a week. I selected this model because it has the dicing capability. Want to recreate a Pinterest salad in a jar? This is your new best friend. It dices carrots, peppers, cucumbers, etc with ease. The dicer works great for harder foods, didn't have as much success with tomatoes and strawberries. The adjustable slicing capability is great. We minced onions, garlic with basil and oregano from our garden to season roasted tomatoes and then pureed the entire concoction to make our first ever home made spaghetti sauce. I'm not a natural cook and I hate prepping food, the cost is worth the benefit to me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dicing Kit No Good
Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2018
Color: Empire RedVerified Purchase
So, I've been able to use this machine now for about a month. Mostly, I enjoy it. It certainly does the work quickly and easily. A couple down sides though. The dicing kit. First, I had to use knives and screwdrivers to open up that kit container, and no, it was not taped. The dicing kit does not dice. Period. It chops, and not evenly either. Big pieces. I don't see why or how they call it a dicing kit. Useless. Food often gets up under the lip of the lid so plan of having to dig the food out before washing it. Finally, the feeding tube is so narrow, I can't slice many vegetables and I love the slicing tool! I have to take out my chopping knife and board and go at it the old-fashioned way. Now what is the point of having this machine if I'm back to that? Ha ha

5.0 out of 5 stars My wife loves it!
Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2015

After 16 years, we had to replace our wedding-gift food processor; not because it stopped working, but because the bowls and plastic parts seemed to be wearing out. After shopping for replacement parts, it seemed more cost-effective to begin a new product cycle, and so decided to replace with the newest-latest we could find. The reports from the Food Processing Team are enthusiastic: great power, great functionality, and a wider selection of accessories to create a very useful tool. Sure, it is a kitchen appliance, but my wife loves to cook, and she says the device makes cooking more fun. Not cheap--this is what we got instead of the DeWalt planer I wanted--but if it lasts 16 years again, with the amount of use it gets, the expense will amortize well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Process result doesn't live to what it advertises
Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2018
Color: Empire RedVerified Purchase
This food processor arrived nicely packaged and well equipped with various blades and disks, especially the dicing kit we're expecting the most, coz dicing for salads is really a chore for us. Can't wait to see how it performs. Unfortunately after giving this food processor several tries, we're quite disappointed about the result, especially dicing and shredding.

1) I'm more anticipate the dicing performance, which end up disappoints me the most. I put yam and potato which is relatively hard object. The blade is very sharp as I didn't get a chance to touch the push tube and it all went down by itself. But the result is awful to me. All looks like randomly chopped instead of those nicely cube shaped as advertised. Tried low speed which has a little better result but still not acceptable to me. This dicing kit is the main reason I chose this Kitchenaid model over the Breville, and it just doesn't live to what it claim to be. I didn't even bother try other materials with it.

2) My wife is more anticipating the shredding result which is her major cutting style. And there's a HUGE problem with this model: the feed tube is too narrow comparing to other brand or even its 13 cup model (which has a 3 in 1 wide mouth feed but without the dicing kit that I want the most). The result is awful. Carrot ended up with tiny length coz we can only feed it upright and there was way more juicy parts than expected. I looked up online demos and tried to cut the carrot in 3 parts so as to try feed them horizontally. The result, lots of unshredded pieces stuck between the shredding disc and the cover cap. And this is from the medium shredding side. With the fine shredding side, the result is close to carrot juice... My wife instantly rejected the performance of this food processor. I gave it one more try with potato since it has larger feed area. It ended up with less juicy parts but still, the size is still relatively short and the shredding result is also on the thinner side. I can't tell much difference between fine shred and medium shred.

3) Before I made my conclusion, I tried its adjustable slicing disc for a fair review. This one does its job with expected results. I put in bell pepper with different thickness settings and all lives to its expectation. I didn't bother trying the chopping blade coz that's the less common one we gonna use.

Overall, this Kitchenaid food processor looks nice, with comprehensive blades and discs (even the dicing kit that you really can't find it easily), and the cleaning is also easy. But it just cannot completes the real job that we aim for. Rather disappointed since we have high expectation on it, which also justifies why nearly 20% 1 star review on it (I was kinda neglecting the ratio due to the dicing capability...). I ended up file a return for it. Given the Breville sous chef has a much better overall review, I will give it a try and will come back later and update the comparison.

3.0 out of 5 stars KFP 1466 14 cup with dicing kit -- does some things well, others no so much...
Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2016
Color: Empire RedVerified Purchase
First, I think Amazon has mixed reviews on several different models as far as I can tell. This is for the KFP1466, the 14 cup processor with the dicing kit. First, the dicing kit works very well. I used on zucchini and eggplant, with great results. And that is quite an achievement for Kitchenaid because as far as I can tell they have the only food processors that offer this. Biggest drawback for me: the shredding disc comes with "medium" and ""fine." I used medium on my carrots and they were practically juiced. I need a larger shredding disc. It looks like what I want is a 6mm shredding disc. I wouldn't even mind that it didn't come with the food processor if I could buy one as an extra accessory. But as far as I can tell, that's not the case. Kitchenaid sells a 6 mm grating disc, but it doesn't appear that it will fit this model. And the models it does fit don't seem to be sold anymore. If forced to choose between a larger grating disc and the dicing kit, I will choose the shredding disc, because I grate carrots every week for salad and I dice once a month or less.

Other observations: the small bowl and its chopping blade did a lovely job of chopping a small quantity of shallots. But here there is also a downside. It's great that the machine comes with a smaller bowl -- but it can only be used inside the larger bowl and uses the same lid. So if you want to process something in the larger bowl and then the smaller, you are going to have to empty out and probably clean the large bowl and lid before you can do what you want in the small bowl.

This machine does a lot of things very well, but I am not sure I'm going to keep it.
