Growing up, I was the kid that always had their nose in a book. Seriously - I would WALK while reading I was that obsessed. When I went to college, I found that my love of reading slowly died, and I found it more than more difficult to carry around (and store) novels. I fought the e-reader "craze" for YEARS feeling that I was being cheated out of the smell and feel of real books. But, I finally gave in and I couldn't be happier!

This small contraption holds hundreds (if not thousands!) of books. It travels so well and is so easy to use! I love that I can read it in all sorts of light (including the dark, due to the backlighting). The "dark mode" allows me to read it at night without disturbing my husband. Even though it needs to be charged, the battery lasts a very long time and it is easy on the hands to hold. This is incredibly important as I was finding it more difficult to hold larger novels due to carpal tunnel syndrome. I also love that you don't need to use a bookmark or worry about losing your place if you accidently drop your book!

Going on vacation and can't decide what to read? No problem! Download as many books as you want and it still fits in your purse! Don't like the book you're reading? No problem! You can easily switch to another one without even getting out of your chair. Want to read something a little risqué or dark and are embarrassed for the public to see? No problem! Read with confidence!!!

I have turned back into the girl that is obsessed with reading. In fact, I am currently on a 2+ year reading streak where I have read EVERY SINGLE DAY. I don't feel like this would be possible without my Kindle.

I was hesitant to go electric at first, but now I couldn't be happier!

I'm a huge Kindle fan! I finally decided to upgrade my Kindle after years of having the original Kindle Fire. I wanted to switch to a device used exclusively for reading, and the Kindle Paperwhite has always been the one that stuck out for me.
The number one best feature of the Kindle Paperwhite is the battery life. I can go weeks without charging my device. I use my device daily for multiple hours and have never had an issue with the battery life on my Kindle. The battery also holds a charge if you don't use the device for a while. I've gone a while without using the device, a few weeks, and the battery was still mostly charged, and I was able to start reading right away.
The Kindle paperwhite is great if you are looking for a device that is focused on just reading. The internet power and speed on the Paperwhite are slower than a traditional tablet, and it is unable to browse the internet the way a tablet can. If you are looking for that a Kinde Fire might be a better fit.

The backlight is always welcome, however I can't remember if this is the one that allows white text on a black background or not as I bought 2 close together as the first one I got, I didn't realize that wasn't a standard feature, which is bizarre to me.
But, if that is this one, I'd buy it again if I could find it on sale.
The thing is, the processors in these are so painfully slow, and android has come a long way in battery efficiency, that you might just be better off buying a cheap tablet with a big battery and not have to deal with the endless spinning circle when trying to do anything other than turn the page.
That makes for a frustrating user experience. For real.
Also, paying whatever insane amount they want for the latest kindle island scuba diving version or whatever is straight up dumb, when you could buy an actual tablet that when in airplane mode can get close to e ink levels of usage time, or at least as much so that it fails to matter if you only have to charge it once a week and can also use apps as well as have a decent CPU and some ram.

I gifted my previous one on an overseas trip, so I needed to replace it. Only downside? The previous case is just a smidge too big. Works, but there is movement when accessing the buttons. Some great user experience,

I was one of those who was against buying a kindle for the longest time. I strongly dislike reading on my phone and love holding an actual book.
