I bought this for my son who is in kindergarten, so that he can use some of the optional school math programs, and give him a way to use other fun apps and programs that are age appropriate.
Chromebooks are great for kids, as I'm able to use Google's Family Link app to monitor and set time limits for his use of the laptop. It does take a little bit of setup, and my only gripe was that the initial setup for using family link with a newly created Google account wasn't the easiest, but that isn't a knock on this Chromebook itself.
This Chromebook is pretty sturdy, and built with kids in mind. The keyboard being pretty spill proof is super handy. My kids are clumbsy, and the water is channeled right off if they spill their drink. It's also pretty rugged. I haven't really tried to drop it, but the material is pretty tough. It doesn't look the prettiest, but that's not what we were after. The OS loads up really quickly, and the battery life is decent. It charges fairly quickly too.
This thing will use most Chromebook apps, it browses the web easily and quickly, and handles flash applications well (though for whatever reason, flash is blocked by default on all my webpages, despite me checking the box that says otherwise in the settings). This laptop obviously won't play AAA Games and isn't meant for processor or graphic intensive applications like video editing or anything. But it's perfect for what I needed it to do. Overall, this is great for school age kids, or even for clumsy adults who only need to browse the web, watch video, or use Chromebook apps.
