Regardless of weather you like the single player story or arcade towers, or the on-line multi-player options, this game's got you covered.
Even if you've never played a fighting game before, MK11AK has you covered with an incredibly in-depth set of tutorials that cover everything from basic moving and blocking to building combos, setting up a good defense and braking through an opponent's defense.
Even vary technical things like frame data are explored.
These tutorials don't just ask you to input a string of commands and move on, they take the time to explain how and why the things you do work so you can actually use the knowledge in a practical setting later.
They'll even teach you about every playable character in the game; if you let them that is.
The single player options are mostly what you'd expect from a fighting game, though slightly more meaty than most.
The single player towers give you 5, 8 and 12 opponent options along with endless and survival options, while the towers of time provide an endless amount of challenges.
The story mode is quite long with not one, but two full-length adventures.
The graphics and audio are the best the series has ever been graced with.
All the over-the-top violence is here in classic form, and the voice acting is top-notch across the board with the one exception being Ronda Rousey; Sonya Blade's guest voice actor.
The game's cast has some real head-liners from the Animé world with Jennifer Hale, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Phil LaMarr, Erica Lindbeck, Richard Epcar, JB Blanc, Troy Baker and Steve Blum leading the cast.
The game even calls in a few veterans from the acting world with Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa reprising his role as Shang Tsung from the 1995 Mortal Kombat live action movie, an out-of-nowhere appearance of Peter Weller as RoboCop and the return of Keith David reprising Spawn from the animated series of the same name.
And of course Jamieson Price returns as the announcer as he as done from Mortal Kombat 2009 onwards.
As far as what you get with the package?
Almost everything the game as to offer.
The only things you miss out on are a Halloween-theme masquerade skin pack and the pre-order exclusive eternal clash skin pack.
The thanks a million Jhonny Cage skin is included in new coppies as a promotional code included on a slip of paper in the game case.
Is this a special build of the game?
Absolutely not.
What you get is a data disc containing all of the patches and DLC and a play disc containing everything else.
Any addons you don't have instaled after these two discs spin for a while will be instaled upon game launch; if you have an internet connection that is.
Speaking of, you will need an internet connection and psn account if you hope to enjoy this game, as even single player content requires an internet connection; presumably to stop cheaters from having they're way.

Vorteile : Alle Zusatzinhalte des Kombatpacks (Charaktere, Sinks usw), sowie der Aftermarth Erweiterung (Charaktere, Skins, Storymode 2, Stage Fatalities, neue Arenen & Frindships), sind auf Disk enthalten. Die Edition beinhaltet zwei Disks, eine für die Installation & eine fürs Spiel. Was ist offline Spielbar? Beide Storymodi, die klassischen Türme, sämtliche Training & Übungsmodi, sowie Charakteranpassungen & der Einzelkampf. Nachteile : Da es sich hier um die US Version handelt, gibt es weder eine deutsche Sprachausgabe noch deutschen Untertitel. Die Krypta & alles was mit ihr in Verbindung steht, ist offline NICHT nutzbar. Offline kann man nicht mal eine einzige Münze freischalten, geschweige denn die Dinge die man im Storymodus freischalten kann, da alles an einen Server gebunden ist. Zweitfatalities schließt das mit ein, man muss sie sich im Netz raussuchen so wie früher, auch nach dem durchführen werden sie nicht in der Liste gespeichert. Brutallities werden ebenfalls keine freigeschaltet & da nützt es auch leider nix wenn man weiß wie sie ausgeführt werden, da man diese nur dann ausführen kann wenn man sie freigeschaltet hat. Der Charakter Frost, ist der einzige der NICHT freigeschaltet ist, da sie in der Regel nur im Storymodus freischaltbar ist. Für wen lohnt sich diese Edition? In erster Linie für reine Offline Spieler, die gern alle Inhalte auf Disk haben wollen & das Grundspiel bisher nicht gekauft haben & auch damit leben können wenn sie nicht in die Krypta kommen & nichts freischalten können, außer die Endfilmchen nach Abschluss der klassischen Türme. Im Endefekt ist das was man hier jedoch bekommt weit mehr wie das was man mit dem Grundspiel bekommt, denn nach einem Server Down & das Grundspiel das einzige was noch übrig bleibt vom Spiel. Ob jetzt natürlich über 80€ für die US Aftermarth Edition ausgeben möchte, muss jeder für sich wissen. Aufgrund dessen da es leider so viele Nachteile gibt, vergebe ich auch hier nur 3 von 5 Sternen. Mortal Kombat ist im Always On Universum angekommen, das war früher besser.
