This router started working practically right out of the box, with default settings of course. The unit has been working smoothly (for the most part) for five days. The 2.4 GHz band performs significantly better than the ac routers that I have used, but the 5 GHz band really shines, and outperforms all my expectations. The signal/speed is very good for the first 50 ft, in all directions through walls and floors, but it begins to deteriorate beyond a 75 ft imaginary sphere.
The unit is built overly delicate and flimsy. Some of the buttons are unworkable because they are wobbly and flimsy. The antennae are particularly flimsy. During a very careful unpacking, it felt like they might break at the slightest touch. Personalizing the settings with the web interface took quite a while primarily because, just like most GUI interfaces, it is intuitive and friendly only to the person who designed it. The unit does not have a scheduled-startup feature, that some routers have, although if it continues to work well, I will not miss the feature. On scheduled WiFi-off, it needs several reboots for the settings to get etched into the firmware. Even then, it shuts down the WiFi at random times and never wakes it up again. After five days, this router stopped working.

I am technical though and avoided using their app. I went straight to the configuration and setup all my SSID's. Good modem but could not get speed when connected to my sb8200 modem. I have gig download and so many tries but no luck. Apparently, the WiFi Was fine with almost 500mbs. Good range. Returned it getting to link AX3000.
Finally got the Netgear AX8 works great. Wifi if fast. Connected to laptop is slow but i think you have to take down firewall and anti-virus to see the real speed or your internet speed may be trotling with ISP. Comcast has this issue unless you have a fiber set up. No issue with Netgear Nighthawk. Tibe serous Any one of these WiFi6 routers are good. From the cheaper TPlink for 129 to this Netgear which is 300. Get the C.1000 modem or Sb8200 so you are good for couple of years.

For the price, it does have amazing speeds. The configuration was a little confusing or it could be my unit. Seems that some of the sections were dependent on the setup of others sections and if I remember from the last setup after getting a new provider it wouldn't let me configure a new subnet until I factory reset and started over.

The main reason it's being replaced is a huge one that fast speeds can't even get over. I am currently using this as an access point and not a router and it is CONSTANTLY loosing internet connection. And no I don't mean signal. All devices will be connected to the radio signal and be a local intranet but reaching the outside world is impossible. I'd say on average over the year it has been hard reset about 50 times. I have noticed a trend of it being during heavy use and warm days so temperatures may have something to do with it. The problem is that mine is wall mounted and never covered.

It was so bad that I used the combo device after the original return date and only started using it again out of necessity. The frustration has returned and I can't recommend this device even at $50.

I got it, great condition, but was total disaster to setup. At first, I thought the wifi password was permanently changed after several factory resets, only to find that they mis spelled a word in the wifi password. Luckily the qr code got me to that resolution, but then the admin password didn't work. The defaults didn't work. Luckily through some convoluted jumping around with my old router and the app I was able to get the unit able to be logged into and setup. After that hour and a half of troubleshooting what shouldn't have been an issue, the last 20 minutes have been pretty nice. I should be clear, i'm not an average user. I've setup configurations from old linksys wrt54g to setting up VPN tunnels with aes encryption on Cisco IOS for their rack mounted routers. Both through gui and command line. I've been through the tftp stuff in the past, so i'm not dumb by any means. If this were an average user, it would have been returned. Luckily, I was able to get it working and hopefully it stays working.
