I had my reservations about getting this game. Initially I didn’t like a lot of the new Pokémon that debuted this gen plus I had heard about some graphical glitches and a literal game breaking bug that, albeit very rare, occurs randomly. As a long time Pokémon fan, I eventually caved. I was pleasantly surprised when i finally started playing it! For the very first open world Pokémon game, general did a great job! Some of the graphical glitches still exist and I’m still not crazy about some of the new Pokémon. I love how they did the story! It’s not as grand a scale or philosophical as say the Unova games but it still works! If i we’re too add one thing aside from bug fixes, it would be level scaling. Seeing as you can choose your own path I feel like this should be a natural element. Other than that, Bravo!

It's open world, it lets you roam every inch of the world after the first hour long tutorial. It's a fantastic journey. I'm 10 hours in and I can guarantee you will love it... if you can ignore the performance issues.

The day one patch has helped, but some of the areas experience serious stuttering. It doesn't break me out of my zone and doesn't break the fourth wall for me but if you get annoyed with framerate skips, you might want to wait until they patch the strange performance issues. They only happen in large towns from my experience but it's really not acceptable for a game that costs full AAA prices.

I still give this a 5/5 because it really is ambitious, large, wonderful and gets so many things right that it doesn't deserve a star getting docked for that ambition.
