Sony WF-XB700 pretty good.. Price could be better
Months ago I had wanted to upgrade from my Sony bluetooth wired headphones for my workouts to the new (Not so new) trend of wireless earbuds so at the time I was looking for something relatively cheap just to see if I would like having them during my runs/workouts and I stumbled upon the Haylou wireless earbuds for about 22 dollars at the time. Knowing these were cheap earbuds my expectations were extremely low. I was pleasantly surprised how good they sounded and how comfortable they were in my ears and they never fell out during my workouts.. The biggest problem I had was the CONSTANT disconnect from each ear bud and latency, when it worked it worked great but I had more issues than not.Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and my preferred brand for tech (Sony) was releasing some workout earbuds, now these were not the first by them but previous models were reviewed and were not so favorable so I decided to hold off. For the price of $129 I was a bit hesitant but knowing Sony is a "Premium" brand I decided to take the chance and the previous reviews for their flagship earbuds WF-1000XM3 which are apparently in a league of their own I felt Sony has the perfect engineering formula for their earbuds now. (Mind you Sony is one of the leading authorities in sound engineering in the world.)The earbuds arrive with standard packaging, the earbuds, the charging case and USB C cable and some instructions and various sizes in ear tips to replace with in case the default ear tips did not fit for you. Pairing the earbuds to my Sony XPERIA XZ Premium smartphone was a breeze, as soon as you take it out of the case it will immediately try to connect. As soon as I paired it I was placing them into my ears and it was as comfortable as most earbuds despite their size. Now that is probably one of the things you will notice it is relatively larger in person than in the pictures, at least to me, but by no means did they feel uncomfortable in the hours that I had them in my ears whether I was working out/running or just using it for my commute to work. Sound quality was very good especially with the extra bass, even turning up the volume the sound doesn't become over saturated with bass or mids. Now unfortunately you cannot utilize the Sony app for the headphones to make adjustment to the mids/lows/treble/bass.. all that jazz that you would normally do in their higher end headphones/earbuds but even at default it sounded very good (A little tweaking might have made it sound a bit crisper). Now these DO NOT have noise canceling so if that is what you are looking for these are not it. Be prepared to hear most of your loud surrounding while wearing these but like most earbuds by design they have passive noise canceling so they will drown out some low noises but you will hear everything. I had no issues with the earbuds disconnecting or latency issues so that was a huge relief to have a consistent good audio experience. Testing the battery endurance of these earbuds happened twice. The first time I had the earbuds at MAXIMUM volume and let it play out while I slept. From my initial test they lasted the entire 9 hours at MAX volume, letting the battery go out recharged for 10 minutes and it gave me about a little over an hour. Fully charged and test it for a second time and it lasted 9 hours and 15 minutes. Personally I'm not going to have earbuds in my ears for more than 3 hours straight so if you are concerned with battery life that really won't be an issue for most people. The case will give you an additional 9 hours so recharging the case and headphones that are completely depleted took me probably an hour and 15 minutes or so. There is a light indicator on both earbuds showing you they are being charged and one in the case.So overall I really like these for my workouts and just going about my daily routine. Comfortable to wear, sounds very good (could use a little tweaking), but lack of noise canceling does hurt it a bit especially for the price.COMFORT: 8 out of 10 (Big earbuds came in a big case but pleasantly comfortable for long term use)SOUND QUALITY: 7.5 out of 10 (Unable to tweak audio and no noise canceling) (I'll give it an 8.5 in a perfectly quiet area)BATTERY LIFE: 9 out of 10PRICE: 7 out of 10 (A little high for what you get or what you are not getting)

I just got the Sony WF-XB700 ear buds (in blue) and I am impressed. I have read several reviews on these headphones and I am glad I got them. So here are my thoughts:

Fit: Honestly, these are weirdly comfortable. They are a little on the large side like the Bose Sound Sport Free (which I also have) but they don't feel heavy. When I first saw them I thought the fit would be so-so. The Bose have the silicone "wing" for a secure fit and I think the Sony's fit better in my ear.

Sound: Oh the bass. It's so goooooooood. I have played a variety of songs from AC/DC to ZZ Top and the sounds is awesome (using Prime Music to spot check a few genres). The bass doesn't drown out the mids and highs. It's tight and thumpy without being muddy. One thing to note is it does depend on the the song. For example, I was listening to Elvis and there was some bass but not like there was on other songs. It didn't sound full but that's to be expected due to the age and the recording.

Controls: The earbuds have button controls. People complain about not having touch controls but I have earbuds with touch controls and I find myself play/pause/adjust volume when I am moving them around to get a good fit in my ear. I am totally okay with the buttons and they work fine.

Quality: The case is a hard plastic - feels a little cheap but squeezing it it does feel sturdy and the hinge is cool (honestly you have to open it to know what I mean). The lid is translucent so you can see the charging lights which is cool - 3 lights (1 for each earbud and one for the battery). USB-C charging is a plus. It takes about 2 1/2 hours to fully charge the case form a low/empty battery. People complain about not having wireless charging but I charge by wire so not a big deal for me. The earbuds are nice quality plastic as well. It does come with 3 extra earbud tips of various sizes.

Other: One thing the WF-XB700's don't do is connect to the Sony app. My Bose has the app and the only thing I use it for are bud updates as it doesn't have EQ settings either. While it would be nice to change the EQ settings through the Sony app I do have EQ settings on my Galaxy S9+. Not a deal breaker for me but it would have been a "nice to have" feature.

Value/Overall: For $130 I think these are a great value. It may be missing some features that some prefer but I bought these for the sound and they didn't disappoint.

I recently bought these and the JBL Live 300 phones to compare the two so my review is a short staright-to-the-point breakdown between them:

    Sound:
The Sony 700 has much better bass overall than the JBL 300. The JBL's have a little bit better mid-range and treble, which was great but I'm a basshead and the JBL surprisingly lacked deep sub-bass, overall decent bass though, just lacking for my tastes. The Sony has pretty dang good sub-bass, but lacks a little tiny bit in the clarity, mids, and higher frequencies, but an has overall good sound to me. Sony wins for me.

    Fit/Comfort:
The Sony ear tips are a much better fit for my ears and I prefer the material and feel of the Sony tips. With the JBL I can not get a good fit in my right ear so it keeps falling out. The Sony's haven't fallen out, but they did come a little close though. Haven't tried either for heavy physical activity such as running or working out, so can't comment on those yet. Sony wins for the tips and getting a perfect seal.

The JBL's stick out of my ears a tiny bit, so wearing a loose fitting beanie or helmet, and sleeping with them on is tolerable. The Sony's stick out of my ears quite a bit so wearing a beanie or helmet is very uncomfortable and kind of painful. I have completely ruled out sleeping with the Sony's on.

The overall feel of the earbuds and end product goes to JBL though, they just feel more smooth and solid, and have a luxury feel to them. The Sony's feel a little bit cheap and hollow.

    Ease of use/Connectivity:
The most annoying thing about the JBL's are they keep cutting out quite often, and my phone was in my pocket every time! Extremely annoying and unacceptable to me. The Sony has not cut out once in many many hours of use. Sony winds for connectivity.

The JBL's automatically paired with my phone which was really cool. I had to pair the Sony's by holding in the buttons. Google Assistant is nice to have with the JBL's but not necessary for me. No voice control with the Sony's. Pairing is much better overall with the JBL's.

Physical buttons on the Sony's, touch on the JBL's. I found myself touching the controls accidentally on the JBL's every time I adjusted them and it would pause the music. Very annoying. I rarely ever accidentally pause the music with the Sony's. I prefer a tactile button over touch.

The overall feel of the earbuds and end product goes to JBL though, they just feel more smooth and solid, and have a luxury feel to them. The Sony's feel a little bit cheap and hollow.

    Conclusion:
The Sony WF-XB700 wins in almost every area for me personally. My main gripe with the Sony's are they stick out too much, I wish they were flush with my ear. Also if the Sony's had the mids and treble of the JBL they would be perfect.

Originally when I first paired with my Samsung S20, I was extremely disappointed because the bass wasn't what I was expecting, especially if you listen to hiphop or dance. I had the old Sony wireless Extra Bass MDR-XB70BT and Extra bass MDRXB50APB, I love bass. So, I compared all 3 of them side by side... there was something wrong with this earbuds, the bass was so weak.

After playing with it for a while, I charged it to 100%. Then, I rebooted my Samsung and it fixed the problem, the deep bass was back!!!! Very deep, rich bass.. love it. Remember to reboot after pairing just like Microsoft Windows.

Put aside bass, the hard plastic case feels a bit cheap, like those plastic egg from the gumball machine. No big deal honestly.

The pairing process with Samsung S20 was not easy, I followed the instructions by pressing both buttons for 7 seconds into pairing mode, but the device was either not found or it didn't pair successfully. I tried at least 3 times and finally got it. My wife has the Samsung earbuds, the pairing process with her S20+ 5G was amazingly easy and her plastic case supports wireless charging too. Of course, this Sony earbuds definitely beats Samsung in terms of bass.

Messenger, Discord, Google Meet, etc. funcionaron perfectos.
