A reliable and stunning laptop; great for college students looking for a lasting laptop!
Pros: great lasting battery life & charges quickly , great screen quality for any kind of content , the screen is amazing, Touch ID is useful in many ways like Apple Pay/signing in, the laptop is fairly light, keyboard is awesome (it does have a click sound when you type), the trackpad is better and more useful, and much more! Great laptop and is great for college students like me!Cons: THE PRICE lol, no Microsoft office installed(you need to buy separately, you GOT TO buy a sleeve or case since this is a scratch magnet, the speakers are not so great(bass is like fuzzy) , the camera quality is 2/5(blurry and just not great), and the ports(there are only 2 on the left side and on the right side, there is the headphone jack. It is kind of annoying that you have to use one side for charging. Other than that, it’s very reliable, lasting, stylish, and overall a great buy for an upgrade or a new selection! This was my first apple MacBook and I primarily got it since I need a reliable laptop for college.

Have had this laptop for about a week now and I am completely in love. I upgraded to the newest Macbook Air after having an Acer Chromebook from the CB3-111 series and the difference is like going from SD to HD in the blink of an eye. The Macbook Air's screen is so much crisper and brighter than the Chromebooks, not to mention two inches bigger. Really makes the display easy on my eyes and even after several hours of use. Though it's bigger than the Chromebook, the Mac is much sleeker and lighter. Really easy to transport and it powers up super fast. The functioning of the Macbook Air is equally as fast and smooth. I love how easy it was to sync my iCloud information over to it and that all my favorite websites (and some passwords) were already detected. Battery life is great, well, at least to me compared to what I had going with the Chromebook, which was only capable of holding a charge for three hours in recent months. I didn't buy this laptop for the Garage Band or iMovie so I can't say how those apps run, but I can tell you that I've had five web browsers opened at once, plus Messages, Microsoft Word, and Spotify, and I didn't experience any lags or system crashes during that time. Really don't know how that compares to operating the bigger media apps so apologies if I didn't help you out there. But if you're like me, a college student who wants something reliable and fast and albeit, a beautiful product, then go for this. I've had and worked with other Apple products before and trust me, nothing compares to Apple. If you take care of this computer by not dropping or spilling anything on it or downloading things from un-secure websites then you can possibly wind up having this computer for ten years without any major mishaps. This laptop is expensive, sure, but there's definitely a reason for why that is. That reason will be obvious to you after just a few hours of having this computer. At least, it definitely was for me.

And just a quick FYI, make sure you've checked that the software is updated or else you'll have trouble downloading your apps. I had that problem when I first got it but the situation was quickly rectified once I figured out that the software was out of date. I've had no issues since. Just wanted to let you know in case that happens to you during the initial set-up.

And one more quick note: Keep checking back on the listings for the Macbook Air because it fluctuates sometimes between the full price and the sale price of $999.99 (at least, that was the lowest I saw it). Unfortunately, I couldn't get to the sale price in time and purchased it at the price it's listed at now ($1,109.99) but you might be lucky enough to do so! (:

Nice laptop. Would not recommend spending over $999 for it, however. Not that it isn't a quality product, as it definitely is, but I've seen it on sale many times for that price - even less sometimes. Very sleek, modern, and well built. Great screen, however, I do keep the brightness level most times at or near the maximum. While it is plenty bright at those levels, it renders the lower brightness levels nearly useless. I cannot speak to the screen's effectiveness in direct sunlight, but didn't get washed out when it was used outdoors on a sunny day. The keys are quick and responsive, shallow (less finger travel), and the backlighting is excellent. My accuracy took a hit initially after it's purchase, but after some practice, both accuracy and speed picked up considerably, primarily due to the MacBook Air's key depth and size. Touch ID is great - quick and responsive. Track pad is large and also responsive to clicks and gestures. Force Touch does an incredible job of simulating a button press. Battery is quite good, and combined with its size and weight, provides substantial portability. Overall, the MacBook Air provides an excellent user experience for all the reasons listed above.

Note: Reviews on the machine (YouTube videos, primarily) mostly do not give it it's proper justice. Many reviewers tend to forget most potential high-end laptop buyers are savvy enough to know what they are buying, and know the difference between an Air and a Pro and their specific needs as end users. However, so many of the reviews cite the MacBook Air's efficacy at high definition video editing and gaming as performance benchmarks (most knowledgeable potential MacBook buyers would consider the Pro for intensive tasks) and gloss over things like workmanship, user experience, resale value, etc.

First off, this review is by an average user that surfs the web, streams videos, edits photos, etc. This is our first experience with Apple computers having moved away from Windows OS based laptops. There is a big learning curve using MAC OS products, but as we already have iPads, it isn’t too bad. And as you begin to understand, it becomes seamless and smooth.
The initial dislike is it only has 2 usb C Thunderbolt ports, and as one must be available for charging, you are left with just one for dedicated added peripherals. And, you will will need adapters to use former usb, sd, or hdmi products. However, those adapters are minor in cost. But usb “c” seems to be the wave of the future by most computer manufacturers, so, oh well.
Aside from that, it is an impressive laptop. Fast boot up (less than 1 minute) even after installing programs and apps. That’s partly due to the ssd and new quad core i5. The Retina screen is vibrant and sharp, but perhaps a little darker than I prefer. However, this is overcome by bumping up the brightness a little in settings, which may affect battery time a little. It’s lightweight and thin construction makes it easy to be your travel companion. I have come to like the upgraded, low profile keypad. The size of the keys is generous with just enough travel and “click” to keep you typing confidently. The trackpad is also smooth and responsive with, again, just a enough “click”. I chose not to use the fingerprint ID but use a password instead as there are multiple users in our household. But other reviewers indicate the fingerprint ID works wonderfully. This MacBook Air handles multitasking with ease for the average user, and 256gb SSD is more than adequate for us, and I can see 128gb as being subpar for even the most light user. The last thing to consider is build quality. Apple prides itself on this, and it shows. And looking down the road, a Mac is always sought after and holds a high value. Win-Win.
