I'd like to start out by saying that this is not a comparison review. I have never played the Wii U version of this game. I won't go on about saying how this is just an "HD" or a "Remastered?" version and try to sound all edgy and witty; and use big words, so you can believe I'm a super pro writer. I'm not going to point out the obvious; you already know that the Switch is portable.I got this game, because it's completely new to me, and I wanted to use the excuse of "oh I got it for my kid", when in reality, I got it for myself; thinking that my kid will like it. Since my kid is at the cousin's residence, I took the initiative and responsibility as a parent to play the game and give my thoughts about the game in general. As you boot the game, you straight out start the game; there's no title screen, and you're introduced with an isometric-like small little world, with Toadette signalling at you to begin your journey. As you follow her, directions are given to you on screen, showing you how to play the game. The first thing that you'll do is follow Toadette. As you do this, the game will tell you to use the right analog stick, to navigate the camera. Naturally, you'd use the left analog stick to walk. To my discovery, you can also rotate the camera using the L and R shoulder buttons, but this will not give you the total navigation experience, as the analog stick. Once you acquire the item that's in this level, you will eventually be introduced with a cut scene, and the title screen, which you might have been expecting. It will then officially allow you to begin the game. Toad does move slow enough for no "oopsies", and of course you can make him run by holding the B button we all are familiar with. The first course is rather simple and for good reason; it's still very much of an introductory course. The goal of each course is to find the traditional Star that's found in Mario games. You will encounter several obstacles, to which you'll have to solve, in order to retrieve the treasures. Each of them do become more complicated and challenging, but they're all fun. You'll get a chance to revisit these stages, so you can find all the necessary items, to "100%" the course; so far each course has one star and 3 diamonds that you can find, and certain challenges, like "find the golden mushroom", in course 1. Once you finish the level, you'll be introduced with your best coin run, and the date, when you cleared the stage; this is all presented to you in a nice book-like menu.As a father, I say this is good clean fun and humor; (Toad will fall asleep, if you stay idle for a while). It's a game for all ages; it's beautifully made with rich, bright colors and cute NPC (none playable characters) and enemies. If you like puzzle, and Mario themed games, then this game is right for you.Overall, I consider the game a stress free and cute game for people of all ages. I'll be continuing my analysis of the game, and see how far I can go, with all the great challenges that a player will have a chance to face. The great thing about this game is that you're not completely required to finish all the challenges, or acquire all the gems. You can simply casually play through the game, and collect the main star items in each course. As of right now, it doesn't seem mandatory to collect everything but the star. Thank you for your time, and hope you enjoy the game yourself; I mean, hope you purchase the game for your child. (Shhh, your secret is safe with me.)

I was a bit skeptical at first but came away highly impressed. Captain Toad is a perfect experience for the casual gamer who likes platform and puzzle-type games.

The game is simple. Navigate Toad to the gold star. However, he can’t jump so you have to figure out clever ways to avoid enemies and get to where you want to go.

What I really liked was that getting the star was often easy. Sometimes you had to go nothing and it was right in front of you. But then they add a challenge of finding 3 diamonds. This adds a layer of depth while still maintaining a relaxed gaming experience. Then each level has one additional challenge (for example getting through unharmed or collecting a certain number of coins). The challenges are nothing ridiculous. It adds some replay value but doesn’t cause levels to wear out their welcome. In fact, these extra challenges let you explore and appreciate the levels in greater detail.

Lastly, the game feels robust when it comes to the number and difference in levels.

Leave it to Nintendo to take such a simple concept and turn it into gold. This is a must buy.

Captain Toad always interested me with its bite-sized levels. I'm happy to say that in practice they are equally enjoyable as I thought. There is couch co-op (it took me a while to find it in the menu, but it's there), but it is definitely designed around one player. Mainly it's a little annoying to have two people control the camera at the same time. This being said, I've had a lot of fun playing this with my girlfriend and it's maybe the best Switch game out there for a chill, fun co-op experience. The game is a little on the short side too, but it's not the type of game that is best enjoyed bingeing anyway.

There’s over 70 levels and the creativity doesn't disappoint. Each level is only like 3 minutes of effort but so much can happen in that time all at your volition. The story and gameplay are simple so the focus is on the cute puzzles. I would say the dlc is worth the money too

Instant addiction. This little spin-off game from Super Mario 3D World is instantly addictive. When I bought it, I was thinking that I would be playing this game casually, but it turns out that once I start one level, I keep saying "I'll stop at the next" over and over, but I continue playing without stopping. I originally intended to buy this on Wii U, but I kept getting other games and couldn't save up for Captain Toad; now I see why that happened, because owning this game on Switch is so much better, what with all the new things it has. You can even play Hide-and-Seek mode without needing the Toad amiibo; which brings me to another note. Each course has the main goal, a secondary goal, and the Hide-and-Seek game, and if you're like me, you will want to beat all those courses with all goals met All in all, I can recommend this game without a second thought.

Infelizmente, o gameplay apresenta alguns problemas.

O som cumpre bem a proposta. Porém, não se destaca tanto quanto os gráficos. Captain Toad e Toadette têm vozes clássicas, falando poucas palavras ao longo do jogo. A trilha sonora é agradável e aumenta a imersão.
