- Dafydd Jones is recognized as one of the world's leading social photographers, which over the years has given him unique access to an extraordinary range of social events - from exclusive parties, to the races, to fashion shows, film festivals and debutantes balls
- His keen eye, and an instinct for the absurd, has allowed him to capture the behaviour of people who are either unaware of or indifferent to the camera
- Screen Time explores a variety of social situations, from the mundane to the exalted, and features celebrities, actors, models and even the occasional princess - all glued to their phones
'In the eighties and nineties', says Jones, 'when I photographed young people at parties or balls, I'd find them chatting each other up, or smooching in corners. Now I see them sneaking looks on their iPhones, checking on their Instagram feeds, or whatever it is they're hooked on. They hardly talk to each other, or make eye contact at all. And it's not just a generational thing - it afflicts the oldies too. Who knows what impact it's having in the bedroom. It's probably a race to see what will wipe out humanity first - global climate change or screen-induced sexual indifference.'

Review
Snapped in secret, the phone-mad stars: From a VERY glamorous Geri Halliwell to rocker Ronnie Wood and actress Naomie Harris, photographer Dafydd Jones reveals celebrities' mania for mobiles in a stunning new book. Taken over the past ten years, each subject is mesmerized by his or her smartphone to the exclusion of all around them. Included in the pictures are Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, model Natalia Vodianova and Brazilian Ana Araujo with her now ex-boyfriend, Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood. 'I started taking pictures of celebrities at social occasions when they were staring at their phones rather than looking at each other, which is what they should be doing,' Jones tells me. 'In every social situation the smartphone is not only killing conversation, it's changing the way we look at the world.'Who knows what impact it's having in the bedroom?' -- Sebastian Shakespeare ― MailOnline, 11 October 2019

About the author
Dafydd has photographed for the Tatler, Vanity Fair, the New York Observer and all the English broadsheet newspapers. -Also for several magazines and websites that have ended as spectacular failures.
From 2015 he returned to the darkroom and began revisiting his pictures. Making prints into boxed sets on various themes. The idea being that they could be a portable exhibition. One box of prints of pictures from Oxford in the eighties was acquired by the Bodleian Library. The box included a letter from Dafydd explaining how he came to do the photographs. This box of prints was reproduced as the book. Oxford: The Last Hurrah with the letter becoming his introduction. . Since then Acc Art books have published 2 more books by Dafydd each based on a different box of prints. His most recent book is New York: High Life/ Low Life. His next box of prints will be of his photographs made in Hollywood. He lives in East Sussex, England.
