Messenger (hybrid??) with extra options
Looks like a backpack/messenger hybrid, but it leans towards more a messenger bag in what it can carry. It's 20L max capacity and not just the main compartment (more on this later)Love the design and look of the bag. Looks very slick and very easy to access contents inside.Bag has very nice curves to it. The metal accents on the maglatch and top cover makes for a very attractive look.Unlike a traditional backpack, you do not need to dig your hand or arm into the bag and blind feel for items (unless you take out the flex folds). Able to swing the bag around and get items via on-body accessOrganization is also very good with the flex fold shelves, able to compartmentalize medium sized items (and camera accessories).--Shoulder Straps:Shoulder straps are thin to make it so that it's easy to swing the bag in front of you for easy access to contents from size pockets.Seeing that it's thin it dose pose some potential problems. If you ever overfilled an messenger or sling bag with heavy objects; you tend to strain digging into your shoulders over time. With this bag you have a little more leeway with double sided support, but seeing that it has an appearance of a backpack you tend to have a physiological need overfill it. When carrying this around, best to go minimal when you can.I like how there's a axial strap on a pivot that holds on the shoulder strap. Conforms to your shoulders well and feel natural (minimal stiffness) when you wear it, not having the bag's weight in on you (unless you overfill it) and moves with you as you carry it.Sternum/chest, and waist strap relieves the weight a bit, but not my much--Pockets:Bag has tons of pockets for compartmentalization. Note that pockets build off each other. Putting a lot of items in one may take away space from the other especially the main central compartment.Side flap has tons of internal pockets within it. Color coded for battery use. Has stretchy mesh so contents inside are not crushed. If you add too much stuff in internal flap pockets you may have to fold up one of the flex folds so it can zip up all the way.Water bottle/exterior pockets has a nice grip to it. Best water bottle pocket in any backpack i used in terms of securing a water bottle. Know that it shares space with 2 straps (waist strap/stow away strap) per pocket and key chain strap ("anchor link key tether). You can remove these if you like to save space. Water bottle pocket also stacks with side flap pocket making less room for central areaLaptop/Tablet pockets. Has nice curved divider for both laptop and tablet. Ideal for thin laptops like Macbooks. If you have a thick laptop it takes up space from the main compartment.Quick access top pocket. Good for putting cellphone and other frequently used accessories inside. Easily get to items you need when on the ground beside you.-Main compartment:Main compartment is not very large. Very similar space to the main compartment of the 10L sling bag when not expanded. When it is expanded from the top; make sure you tuck in the side flaps so no water will get if it rains. Even when you tuck it in, there's still a hole where water can get in, but only if you're in a rainstorm and water is coming from the sides (from heavy winds) and not straight down. Has flex fold dividers where you can rearrange via Velcro. Flex fold dividers do fold up so you can get 3 separate compartments per dividerDoes not make a good book bag. Standard size notebooks does not fit default configuration. Must remove one (center) of the flex dividers and move the top one down. Pens and pencils are not easily accessible if you have them on the side flaps as you have to unzip two zippers. You can put them in the quick access pocket up top, but it's not as organized. As mentioned before, must be mindful of items you put into other pockets as it does takes up space in the main compartment.--Maglatch/security:For Maglatch you just pull down and towards you to release. If you pull up, it will not open flapTo secure just clip it on. Very easy, no need to adjust anything as it's attached via magnetsMaglatch pocket/expansion gives the bag additional 8L storage from the already 10L (main compartment) + 2L additional pockets making the grand total storage of 20L. For reference, the Jansport Superbreak backpack (one with 1 large pocket and one exterior pocket) is 25L max capacity.Around the bag there are anti-theft pull loops to detour pick pocketersIf thieves are familiar with the bag and have a knife they still can get into the bag while you're wearing it assuming they're super stealthy.--External carry straps.Have various stowaway carry straps in case you want to strap on a yoga mat, jacket, large tripod, dufflebag, etc on the outside. Again weight can be an issue if you don't have strong broad shoulders--Handles.Love the handles on this bag. Very sturdy, solid grip when you grab onto them. Has one up top and one on each side. The side grab handles are super convenient when you have the bag beside you when it's on the passenger side of your car (you in driver's seat); just grab and go without re-orienting your arms much--Weather proof.Fabric and zipper lining are made of waterproof material. Water slips right off, assuming you're not drowning it with water. Can survive rain fall, but probably not a focused downpour, under a natural waterfall, or in the shower (for some reason).--BuildBuild is very solid with quality materials used. Has a defined shape. Difficult to compress. Sturdy, yet may be difficult to stow away under the seat of a plane.Speaking of planes; has a luggage pass-throughBag itself is 3lbs default weight with included accessories. For reference Jansport Super Break Backpack is 12oz (0.75 lb)--Closing Thoughts Very functional bag if you use it like a messenger bag, don't overload it and be mindful where you put your stuff. Convenient if you use it correctly/efficiently.Very situational bag. I wouldn't say it's a "everyday" or main bag unless you're a minimalist, use it as a quick access camera bag, or use as messenger bag with extra strap.Price tag is really high for what you get. Can be worth it overtime if you plan to use it regularly or money is not an issue.

First thing's first: this bag is phenomenal. I love it and I'm so glad I bought it. Now, with that out of the way, let tell you why I picked it and why I love it so much. I've been carrying my camera gear in a LowePro Swingshot 100 for probably 15 years. It's worked well until I really started taking photography a bit more seriously and acquired more gear. The LowePro would not accommodate all my stuff anymore, so I went looking for a new bag. There's tons of choices out there but I landed on the Peak Design Everyday Backpack, 20L.

I had two major hangups when shopping for a new backpack. Firstly, I'm an incredibly short guy; less than 5 feet tall. I'm also physically disabled and walk on crutches (albeit incredibly mobile and active). So, this back had to fit me well (not too tall or wide) and be very secure across my torso since I essentially walk with my arms. Secondly, I wanted to carry AT MINIMUM my EOS RP w/ attached 24-105, a DJI Mavic 2 Pro and controller, a tripod, and an additional small or medium lens. Well, and all the little accessories and necessities; extra batteries, cables, cloths, that stuff. This backpack does all that and has room for more.

As for the fit, it's practically perfect. It's not too tall or wide for my small frame. The sternum strap and hinged straps make it super secure across my back and my torso. Every single strap on this thing is adjustable and they cinch tight and easily. I won't bore you with too many details since this bag has been reviewed to death already. The big deal for me was that it fit me well and it's secure.

Oh, and this thing just absolutely phenomenal in terms of design, materials, finish, and it is DRENCHED in quality. I'm a sucker for good-looking and well-designed things. This is an absolute home run in terms of thoughtful design. It's incredibly expensive for a backpack but for me it's worth every single cent. It helps me enjoy my hobby, which keeps me happy, which is priceless.

This bag has an impeccable design, and the quality of materials is top-notch.

From the first interaction with the packaging, it was clear that a great deal of thought and care went into this bag experience. As I began going through the various compartments and features of the bag, it felt as though I must have been in the room giving feedback along the way when the bag was being conceived because so much of the design felt familiar and perfectly suited for me. Each feature of a product should be scrutinized before adding it to the inclusion list. One failing of many bags is the seemingly random collection of pockets, clips, straps that aren’t of any real value but lend to the illusion of versatility. Each feature within this bag serves a purpose and had to justify its existence before being added, and it shows.

Although this is technically a camera bag, that is not the primary purpose I wanted it to serve. There are a lot of camera bags that are great at holding camera gear, but not so great for daily use in other areas. The Everyday Backpack strikes just the right balance for my needs. Part of what I need is a safe place to store my camera (whenever it gets here.. #StillOnBackorder 😕), and traditional bags are terrible at protecting camera gear. This bag allows for storage of a camera and plenty of space for other items. There are dedicated slots for a laptop and tablet, as well as a quick access top pouch for items that are needed in a hurry. There is easy access to the contents via the side openings or the top. And let me tell you, the clasp for the top portion is a thing of wonder. It has multiple attach points to allow for the bag to grow and shrink to hold contents and is just so damn satisfying to open and close — a mix of hardware clasp and magnets.

I will be using this as my daily backpack going forward!

Good products are made; great products are designed.
They have earned the right to put Design in their name, in my opinion.

Through the years I've purchased multiple Lowepro backpacks and sling bags as well as more recent entrants like Neewer and Amazon Basics. I switched to Fuji mirrorless a few years back and now that I've really fleshed out my kit for landscapes, travel and portraiture I needed something bigger than the small sling I was using for just a body and 2-3 lenses.

I now have the following in the 20L Peak Design Everyday Backpack:
Fuji XT-2 with 16-55 f2.8 lens mounted
Fuji XT-1 (infrared) with 23mm f1.4 lens mounted
Fuji 10-24
Mitakon 35mm f0.95
Fuji 55-140 f2.8 OIS
... plus batteries, memory cards, Peak straps, filters, etc.

What really stands out for me with this bag is the versatility. I can easily grab my XT-2 with 16-55 mounted and end up switching up to the 50-140. With a simple fold of a divider flap I can then stow the XT-2 with this long lens in seconds and don't have to move velcro dividers all over the place. The dividers are so easy to flip and reconfigure that I can confidently carry any part of my total kit without worry.

On top of that, it's amazingly well built and well thought-out/engineered. It's like the Macbook Pro of backpacks and discovering new features weekly really brings a smile to my face.

I have been looking for a while for the perfect bagpack for me to take around during my trips.
I carry a small mirrorless camera and about 3-4 lens with the occasional tripod, bottle of water, jacket and unfortunatly it was usually hard to find a bag that could carry all of those items at once. Most of the camera bags are only usefull for camera gear but wouldn't accomodate additional things like jacket, wallet, water bottle and other daily knicknacks you might need to bring.
This bag sure does and it feels sturdy and of good quality. highly recommend

I have been looking for a decent camera bag for some time; not terribly happy with the big producers (Manfrotto, Lowepro, Think Tank etc) and bought the Billingham Hadley and one from Artisan and Artist without really being satisfied, so took a punt on this backpack.

The packaging is stunning and very well thought through, so is a good introduction to the backpack, which has been subject to really clever design; hidden flaps and pockets hide a lot of straps, so there are no hanging or loose straps on the bag. The straps of made of webbing, similar to car seat belts and the whole design is really sturdy; can't see the handles (one at top and one on either side) ever coming off. The bag is comfortable, easy to adjust and... simply clever. Really like the opening for both a laptop and tablet with pocket at top for passport; therefore no need to open the expose the camera equipment, which travelling; very good 'partitioners' to protect the equipment; perfect for A7ii set up; hidden but spacious storage for batteries, SD cards, batteries etc.; pockets on exterior big enough for sensible sized water bottle.

The video on the Peak Design website is very good; I agree with all their statements other than their claimed ease of access to the belt straps, which on my bag are slightly difficult to extract.

Highly recommended.
