We are upgrading from a Lenovo Yoga Pro to the 920. This first entry details only setup and first five hours of use. I've ordered a powered port expander (Plugable 10-Port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Hub with 48W Power Adapter and Two Additional Flip-Up Ports for additional devices. and new mouse (VicTsing Full Size Wireless Mouse with Nano USB Receiver, 5 Adjustable CPI Levels, 6 Buttons for Notebook, PC, Laptop, Computer, Macbook-Black) and will test more extensively when received. I've had no speed or heat issues in that time (unless you enter your password wrong and it takes a minute to tell you). Currently our data is all on external drives so we haven't had a chance to test the speed of the SSD. The monitor resolution is excellent (as is the resolution on the old Yoga Pro and my 4K iMac).I found Cortana's voice (and humor) to be reassuring in the setup process. The default settings were correct so I just had to click next.Have your Microsoft login ready. I entered a new pin number but the pc lost it on reboot so you can probably skip that for now.I connected to wifi as soon as I entered my password. It ran so well that it only took me 5 minutes to download 9 updates and 10 minutes to install.Privacy issues:* I chose to not link my phone to pc as it wanted to install edge to my iPhone.* I chose to not use one drive and to only save files to my hard drives.* I chose to not give Cortana access to my data.* I turned Skype off.* Review privacy settings carefully. I turned off everything. I unselected all but the first Lenovo profile setting.* Go through your apps and uninstall anything you aren't going to use. I uninstalled a lot of games and One Drive (I use Dropbox for cloud storage).I downloaded and installed Chrome and set it up as my default browser but not sure I'm going to keep it. I have preferred Firefox for decades. I changed all privacy settings on it and Edge to high.Desktop choices:* Pin Chrome to your taskbar and scoot it over before the Edge icon. I put the Windows Explorer icon first and deleted anything I don't routinely use.* Right-mouse click on desktop - View - select small icons and uncheck align to grid.* Keep your desktop clean. Put shortcuts you use regularly in the taskbar, not on the desktop.* Right-mouse click on bottom task bar - Task Mgr - Startup - disabled microsoft One Drive. While you are in there, look at your processes and performance tabs. I was only using 1% of my cpu minutes after startup but it cranked up to 90% for a short period when Windows and Lenovo apps were running.Microsoft Office is only a 30 day trial. That's a bummer.From reboot to windows takes 20 seconds on the new machine as well as on the older Yoga Pro. The older machine still works fine and will replace a large, slow Asus.Addendum: The pen worked without pairing but with limited functions. I couldn't get the led light to light up and the pen separated at the opening to the battery compartment (see photo). The first time I tried to contact Lenova, I sat on hold for 10 minutes with the worst hold sounds (not really music) such that I hung up. Then I tried a chat and, after being ignored by Sasha for 5 minutes, I disconnected. Then I called and left my number with a message that I would receive a return call in 2 minutes. Thirty minutes later I tried Chat again and Dennis is sending me a replacement pen. Registration was also difficult and my account shows no trace of my last other Yoga computer that Lenova has repaired twice.People rightly complain that the pen holder blocks access to other ports but it fits nicely on the Pluggable port expander (see photo).
