Solid value, great sound, marginal fit
I got these in preparation for upcoming travel. I almost sprung for the AirPods Pro, but it's getting into that iffy territory where they might announce an update, and I didn't want to take that chance. I almost got the 1More ANC true wireless earbuds, but I liked that these came with a solid app and an EQ feature.I've had these for a couple of days now, comparing them to the sound of my regular AirPods, and the sound quality is honestly impressive. I had to sit with the EQ for a long while to really nail it (see photo), but once I did, they sound fantastic. The out-of-the-box sound is a bit too bright, far too bass-heavy, and not quite right in the mids. I found the "HearID" feature to be largely useless, as it blasted the midrange (400Hz, 800Hz) and highest frequencies (12.8kHz) for me, and that was it. Didn't even come close to the EQ I came up with on my own. With my EQ, the lows (32Hz - 64Hz) are still a bit too strong for my taste, but most will find it fun and exciting to listen to. It's a bummer the EQ doesn't go that low.I think a lot of the complaints about ANC and sound quality for these boil down to how they fit. As mentioned on The Wirecutter, I find it pretty difficult to get a real solid fit, especially in my right ear. Slight movements of my head and face cause the right one to slip out just enough to break the seal, and dramatically affect the ANC and sound quality. If they're properly sealed, they really do sound fantastic and cancel noise well. The problem is keeping them there. I like that they provided so many tips to customize the fit, but most of the tips vary the diameter, when I think the depth of the tip is the main issue. The M+ size fits the best for me, but I think an M++ would be even better. All things considered, these are a pretty solid budget alternative to the AirPods Pro. I'd recommend these specifically for travel where you won't move around a lot. If you want to wear these nonstop and move around while still enjoying high quality sound and noise-cancellation, you may be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic sound and call quality, easy and cheap fix to fit securely
Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2021
I absolutely love these ear buds! I've always been a samsung buds guy because of the fit but the call quality on in-ear buds just doesn't cut it for me as I use my phone and earbuds for work calls constantly. Saw all the reviews for these and I have been extremely impressed by sound quality and my microphone quality when talking to clients. All it was missing is that wing tip fit that I love on the galaxy buds, but I was able to get a replacement wing tip pack on Amazon for cheap and to my surprise they fit great on the Air 2 Pros straight out the package! Have taken these on a run in the mountains and to the gym, with the wing tips they haven't moved at all (which I definitely couldn't say before I bought them) Hope this helps some others out.
Edit: also I gave the noise cancelation 3/5 stars, with the wing providing a better seal that rating goes up to 5/5, soundcore listen to the people give us wingtips on the next gen ear buds

5.0 out of 5 stars You won't get better wireless buds at this price
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 25, 2021
Firstly, let's address the elephant in the room - active noise cancellation. If ANC is your main reason for buying a pair wireless buds, go grab a pair of Sony WF-1000xm3's. IMHO they are the gold standard in this area. Still nowhere near as good as full size headphones, but the best you'll get in small form factor buds.
The ANC on the Soundcores is best described as 'decent' or 'adequate'. Whilst out walking, they did a decent job of reducing traffic noise and I imagine would cope pretty well with planes, trains, etc. Indoors didn't fare as well. Background noises such as TVs and voices, whilst dulled slightly, were still very noticeable. Like I said, decent, but nowhere near as capable as the Sony's.
As for transparency mode, where the object is to bring outside noise into your ears, I found that although it worked, it sounded unnatural and a bit weird.

What I do have to say though, is that the Soundcores do a lot of things really well. Basically a lot of bang for your buck. I'll try to summarise this below:

    SOUND

The sound is surprisingly good for a set of sub £100 buds. They use the SBC and AAC codecs, so no aptX here. That's mean no support for high res music files or low latency functionality. Watching stuff from Netflix and YouTube, I didn't see any noticeable lag but I doubt they could be used for serious gaming without the aptX support.
Listening to local Flac files on my phone and streaming from Tidal, the sound was clear and refined, with good separation. Lows and mids were well defined, but highs tended to sound a bit restrained and I occasionally encountered some sibilance - that's not unsurprising at this price point. I did enjoy the overall presentation, which I would describe as 'lively'. If bass is your thing, these earphones aren't for you. The sound can be tailored to your liking using the supporting Soundcore app - I'll cover that in the next paragraph as it really deserves it's own section.

    SOUNDCORE APP

The supporting app is simply outstanding. It allows you to configure the controls on the touch sensors, features a whole range of preset sound settings, and the star of the show for me - HearID. It's basically a test that plays back different frequencies into each ear and, based on your responses, creates a sound signature tailored to your hearing. I've played around with the various presets and the fully customisable EQ settings and I always go back to my own HearID settings, which absolutely nailed it as far as I'm concerned. These sound as good as more expensive earbuds I have such as the Samsung Galaxy Buds + and RHA TrueConnect.

    DESIGN AND BUILD

Top quality. The case is small enough to fit in your pocket and the matte finish doesn't attract fingerprints. I love how the lid of the case slides open and closed. You get a really satisfying click and it feels very robust. If I dropped the case, I would have no worries about anything breaking. The buds are light, but still feel well made and just look amazing.

    COMFORT AND FIT

As I said the buds themselves are very light. There is a total of NINE different pairs of silicon tips - 8 in the box and the pair that come attached to the buds. This should allow you to get a decent seal, which does help with the ANC. The stems on the buds are longer than most but didn't cause any issues. For a while I actually forgot I was wearing them, and didn't notice any fatigue until around 3 hours in - very impressive.

    CONNECTIVITY AND CALLS

Very easy to pair using the supporting app. It's Bluetooth 5.0 here, so connectivity is strong and I haven't noticed any dropouts as yet. Took a couple of calls and the sound was clear and the callers had no trouble hearing me ok.

I have found that over the last week, these have become my go-to earphones. They don't particularly excel at any one thing, they just do a very good all round job. They are fun and easy to use and look amazing. And the supporting app is the icing on the cake - easy to use and so many features.

£99 feels like a bit of a steal if I'm perfectly honest.
