You can even customize your Bamboo Pen and Touch experience by assigning your own shortcuts to the four ExpressKeys. Bamboo Pen and Touch works with your existing computer: desktop or laptop, PC or Mac. And it’s an incredible value with the included software: Adobe Photoshop Elements and Nik Color Efex Pro. Sleek and black, the tablet makes for a stylish addition to your workspace. Attach Bamboo Pen and Touch to a standard USB port, set it comfortably by your keyboard, and let your intuition guide you.
Amazon.com
Combining intuitive design and versatility, the Bamboo Pen and Touch is a powerful creative workstation that lets PC and Mac users create digital art with an organic, hands-on feel. Using an innovative tablet and Wacom's "Multi-Touch" system, users can manipulate images and navigate the Web using simple gestures and finger taps. When combined with Wacom's pen-input technology, Pen and Touch allows you to write, doodle, and embellish with ease.
Included pen features 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity for precise drawings.
Large, textured work surface and customizable keys give you artistic control. View larger.
Multi-Touch lets you scroll, zoom, and rotate your screen with simple hand gestures. Sleek, Stylish, and Easy to Use
Measuring 9.8 by 6.9 inches, the Pen and Touch is compact enough to store comfortably in a laptop case. It features a large and responsive active area, providing enough workspace for even your most ambitious projects. For added convenience, four ExpressKeys provide quick access to user-defined shortcuts.
The tablet comes with a battery-free pen with an easy-to-grip design, so you can have maximum control over your drawing. The work surface is textured, providing a pen-on-paper feel. It's also reversible, so you can use it comfortably whether you're right- or left-handed.
The Pen and Touch is simple to set up. Simply plug the tablet into your computer via a USB port, install the provided drivers, and you're ready to go. You'll be doodling, writing, and painting in minutes.
Enhance Creativity with Multi-Touch Technology
With the Pen and Touch, Wacom has implemented a new technology called Multi-Touch. Typically, tablets require you to use the stylus for navigation, but Multi-Touch provides a comfortable hands-on alternative. It allows you to quickly navigate through your computer with a single finger. You can also scroll, zoom, and rotate your screen with simple hand gestures. It's intuitively-designed and easy to use -- even if you're new to the touch experience.
For precision work, you can use the included pen. When you use the pen, the screen will automatically recalibrate for more precise use. In your hands, the pen quickly becomes an all-purpose art tool. It features 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity, allowing you to perform tasks ranging from fine hand-writing to wide-brush painting. You can add hand-drawn embellishments to your favorite photos, add life to your digital sketches, or provide a personal touch to your scrapbooking pages.
First-Class Visual Editing Software
The tablet also comes with a full suite of visual editing software, including Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 Win/6.0 Mac and Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 WE3--valued separately at several hundred dollars.
Pen and Touch is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP (Service Pack 2) and Mac OS X (10.4.8 or higher.) It requires a powered USB drive, a colored screen, and a CD/DVD drive.
What's in the Box

Pros
* Very lightweight, easy to hold, move or re-position as needed
* But, doesn't feel cheap
* Device and USB setup was very simple, no issues or incompatibilities with Win7 or PS
* Works with every app I have tried, and I bet some I haven't tried
* Can act like a mouse, where you're holding the pen and not having your wrist at an odd angle
* Makes certain activities in Photoshop(tm) a breeze, such as brush strokes, which I would suggest is a primary purpose for this device
* Seamlessly integrates with the computer's OS and apps such as Photoshop(tm) -- they're ready for it, just waiting
* The "writing" surface is a surprisingly real-feeling plastic "paper" that provides just the right drag for the pen nib.
* You can program its buttons.
* The activity light shows you when it's running.
* Can be used at any angle (which sounds obvious, but that means you can use it in ways and in situations when you cannot use a mouse)
* Entirely USB-powered... no brick necessary.
* Integral pen storage (the little red "tag")
Cons
* The eraser function is a bit squirrely. It works, but knowing just where to place it is difficult
* One is best off making a choice whether to use a traditional mouse for certain functions, or "penning" instead. Unless you have a big desk, there's not a lot of room for both tools on your preferred side.
* In Windows 7, installs quite a lot of processes (five) for a total of around 57MB of resident memory usage. Probably not a big deal for most people, but if your computer is already tending toward 'maxed out', you may want to consider this.
Other thoughts
Not sure why I waited so long (over ten years, yikes). The price is right, the product is really quite good, and it gives the user a much smoother and more natural artistic stroke, and should prove helpful for those with wrist pain from a 'flat' mouse.
At least on my Mac, the newest generation of Bamboo Touch devices has an all-new sensor that supports 3- and 4-finger gestures! This brings it to near-parity with native Macbook trackpads. It supports Exposé, navigation, and pretty much all the other commands.
The new devices have a model number that ends in /K(A) or /S(A). Obviously, Amazon.com can't guarantee that the device they grab off the shelf is a 2nd generation model (even the box doesn't have that exact model number when I look at it), but hopefully all the Bamboo tablets being shipped today are the new generation.
Make sure you download the latest drivers from wacom.com -- the newest driver is from February, but, again, the boxes may have been sitting on the shelf for longer.
Now for more of a review:
The touch functionality seems to work OK, but is somewhat inhibited by the rubber-like coating on the surface. The glass trackpad in my Macbook is smoother to the touch, and doesn't resist movement as much. Even so, it works fairly well, and will be a nice complement on my desktop. I'll probably only really use it to aid in drawing, more than as a replacement for my normal mouse. Probably the two most annoying things so far are that the zoom gesture doesn't work in Finder, and the 4-finger Exposé gesture is a little different than the native one.
The pen functionality is, as always for Wacom, excellent. I have it mapped to one screen, and it brings back memories of my old 1st-gen Intuos (which doesn't work on my Mac as it is serial). The pen is incredibly smooth in Photoshop CS3, and actually is better than I ever remember my older tablet. Brush size change by pressure is so smooth it feels natural. I also like the texture for drawing so far, even though some might not like the slipperiness.
I might miss the tilt recognition of my Intuos, but I doubt it. I also like the old pen a tiny bit better, because it was contoured and a tiny bit narrower, but this pen is workable. (The old pen doesn't work, in case you were curious!) I really like the smaller size, and recommend anyone looking at a larger tablet to think twice. I had a 9x12 tablet, and never used it, because it was always in the way. But this one is small enough to leave on the desk when not in use (and the touch functions might prove useful as well). Plus, the pen holder tab on the side is better than the old pen well, which always fell over and I'd have to go hunting for it and the pen.
