It was such a good choice for me at the time, a well built, ergonomic, stylish, performance mouse.
I use it for everything from gaming to editing software (Premiere, Photoshop, etc).
I am a photographer which means half of my job is spent on the computer and the key features on this mouse are extremely useful.
While mostly a "gaming" feature, the ability to switch the mouse speed/sensitivity on the fly with a button and being able to customize and save different speed settings, come quite handy in photography and post production.
Whenever Im editing photography and need to focus on specific details or need precision for strokes, I can tune the speed of the mouse for better control.
The material and build of the mouse its durable. My first one lasted 11 years and took many accidental falls.
If you also happen to be a gamer, the 4 extra keys you get (2 on each side) gives you the option to essentially have a complete controller in your shooting hand. I would buy it again in another 11 years if they still make em!
Let's start with the ergonomics. They're good. After a full 8-hour workday or marathon gaming session, you'll find no hand or wrist pain. The flared base supports the meaty parts of your palm, while grippy, silicon cushioning along the sides keep the thumb and pinky in place.
Then there's the button feel, which is great. The left and right buttons are tactile and clicky, as are the four macro buttons, while the scroll wheel has excellent articulation points without being too hard to move. That means you can easily switch guns in a shooter OR scroll long webpages without any issue.
Speaking of those macro buttons, let's talk about the software. The best thing about this mouse is the ability to save three profiles directly to the device. That means I can toss it in a bag with my secondary laptop and never worry about losing my shortcuts. Since I write all day, I've programmed them as shortcuts for cut, copy, paste, and duplicate. When I want to knock out some writing at the coffee shop, I bring the G300s with me and the onboard memory means I never lose those shortcuts, no matter what computer I'm using. They even work when I plug it into my phone.
All of that on a mouse that can go as low as $15 on sale. I have a few more of these stockpiled, since they tend to break after about 3-4 years of daily use. I never want to use another mouse again.
Pros :
+ Clicks feel solid, not cheap.
+ The side buttons on top of the regular left and right clicks are responsive and surprisingly DONT get in the way of normal use.
+ Features software you download from Logitechs website that allows you to create 3 sets of DPI settings, each its own represented color (I have my main set on red, as my entire setup revolves around a Red/Black color scheme) which then allow 5 separate settings within a set, which is easily customized from the software.
+ In addition from the above comment, you can easily change between the settings within your current DPI scheme, or change over to a different scheme with the buttons below the mousewheel. Very useful if you need a sudden controlled DPI change, or saving a scheme for FPS use then a scheme for RTS, ect.
+ This can be a pro or con, but the mousewheel has a slight clicking feel to it when scrolling which is great, yet its solid rubbery coating might be a turnoff for some people.
+ I'm a hybrid Claw/Palm holder, and this feels comfortable to use for both styles.
Cons :
- Its a smaller mouse. I have slightly larger hands with long fingers and this mouse felt just a tad bit too small for me at first, but i've gotten use to it. Yet this might not be much of an issue for Claw style grips.
- The wire is long enough to manage a normal under-the-desk setup of a tower, yet the wiring seems thin and delicate. I'd advise slight caution when handling when putting it away or moving it around.
- Pro or Con depending on your taste for the "feel" or "texture" of a mousewheel, as its about the same you would get from a standard Dell mouse or something of the sort you find in a computer lab or library. This does not take away from the overall use of the mousewheel, it works great.
- The DPI setting software was a little confusing at first, i recommend playing around with the settings to understand how it works.
My favorite and I've just bought 6 of them to last me into the foreseeable future.
Top reviews from other countries
In an era of planned obsolescence, there are few devices that stand out. This is one of those rare durable ones (or maybe I'm just plain lucky this piece lasted so long for me!).
Other reviewers have mentioned Pros & Cons better than me so I'll just stick to my experience instead of repeating their points ad nauseum.
-- Middle Button Roller works perfectly fine even today.
-- Mouse Cable felt plasticky and delicate at first, but has held up well for 6 years without any degradation of the insulating material around the wire.
-- Rubber quality on the side is good overall - for 2-3 years of daily use; after that point the grooves start disappearing and become smooth instead of providing friction to your thumb and little finger.
-- The mouse is great for ambidextrous use and ergonomic especially for claw grip holders. Palm grip can get slightly uncomfortable (for the little finger) especially when using the top reprogrammable buttons above Left Mouse Button (LMB) and Right Mouse Button (RMB).
Coming to the primary Left Mouse (LMB) & Right mouse buttons (RMB), the LMB & RMB started no/double-clicking (the problem where mechanical switches start wearing out and a single-click by user either doesn't register or gets registered as double-click) approx. 2 years (mid-2018) since purchase, so the criticism by other users about 'double-clicking' LMB and RMB is valid. However, as I rarely used the remaining buttons, hence I could re-map 2 of the programmable G-Keys to LMB & RMB using Logitech Software easily. To avoid constantly launching bloatware 'Logitech Gaming Software', I simply saved the G-Key mappings to the mouse's memory once using that software and never had to launch it again.
Those additional re-programmable buttons increased its effective lifespan by an additional 4 years up to today - at the cost of losing additional programmable functions - perfectly fine considering the VFM price.

I like that you can set different colours for different dpi modes + main click, that way I know which one I’m on at a time. It’s light and a good shape too
