Capture sweeping landscapes, impressive architecture, lively street photography and more. Superb video performance with remarkably smooth, fast and quiet autofocus. Gorgeous edge-to-edge clarity and faithful point light reproduction. All with the convenience of a lightweight grab and go lens.
All the shots. None of the baggage.
At just 570 g, the compact NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR is the perfect grab and go lens for all-day versatility and convenience. From stunning wide landscapes to close-ups of the animals that inhabit them, every shot is captured with staggering resolution, impressive clarity and minimal distortion.
Even more reach with DX crop mode.
The already impressive 200mm reach of the NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR can be effectively extended to an amazing 300mm when used on an APS-C size/DX format camera like the Z 50 or by setting your Full-frame/FX format camera to DX crop mode.
Outstanding optics. True-to-life images.
The NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR is loaded with advanced Nikon lens technologies to capture photos and videos just as you see them with minimal distortion and exceptional clarity.
-
Autofocus done right. Smooth. Fast. Quiet.
Powered by an ultra-quiet stepping motor and enhanced by the additional light gathered by the Z Mount, focusing is fast, silent and accurate. Great for stills; even better for video.
-
Rock steady VR.
Built-in optical Vibration Reduction (VR) works alongside your Full-frame Z series camera’s in-body VR for impeccably sharp handheld photos and steady videos, even in low light.
-
Night. As it should be.
Point light sources like stars and cityscape lights are rendered sharp and clear.
One lens. All kinds of shots.
This is an outstanding lens for video work. AF and subject tracking are smooth and silent with virtually no focus breathing. The clickless control ring lets you smoothly adjust ISO, aperture, white balance and more. Plus, the lens accepts 67mm filters for greater creative exposure control.
Keeps out the dust. And the drips.
Extensively sealed to keep dust and moisture out, especially around all moving parts of the lens barrel.
Control. That's customizable.
The control ring can be used for quiet aperture control (great for iris transitions during video recording or situations where complete silence is critical), exposure compensation or ISO adjustments.

I know that primes and f2.8 lenses are considered professional and do have the 85mm and 35mm Z lenses for the camera in addition to the great kit lens 24-70 f4. I also had the F mount 70-200 f4 but with the adapter found it cumbersome and quite noisy when trying to focus.
This lens isn't designated as 'S' line and is there not considered anywhere close to the quality of the 70-200 f2.8 or 24-70 f2.8 but is also considerably cheaper at only 20% of the cost of the other two combined. I watched many reviews on YouTube and online and decided to take the plunge and buy the lens.
After using the lens now for a month or so I have to say I'm very impressed. Does it have the same level of quality and control as the larger f2.8's? No, and it's much slower. But the reason I bought the Z system is the VR, the stop reduction afforded by the VR and the quality of the sensor so the real-world difference to me is great. I'm no pixel peeper and don't have the considerably more expensive f2.8's to compare to - all that is done online by multiple reviewers but I have to admit I've not taken this lens off the camera since buying it.
Long story short - this is a keeper and despite the lack of the 'S' designation and the fact it's quite slow as soon as you get beyond 30mm, the pictures are excellent. I've not had any major issues with light and so this lens is an absolute great all-rounder. Even if Nikon would build my wish-list lens of a z70-200 f4, coupled with my included z24-70 I'd probably still leave this lens on most of the time. Just so easy to grab and go with a great size and practicality.
Of course it can't compete in pure optical quality or depth of field control with the 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 whose focal length range it covers. But it costs 81% less than buying that combination, weighs 74% less, and you don't have to swap lenses to cover an 8x zoom range. And the optical quality turns out to be surprisingly good - probably the best 24-200 super zoom I've seen.
Recommended!
I have put it on a Z50, z6 and Z7 already. This lens was worth the wait. Its small, sharp, and exactly what I wanted to cover a wide range when I don't want to have to change lenses. Yes, its a bit slow, but I knew that before ordering. Nikon's mirrorless cameras tolerate high ISO, so the slow aperture wont be much of an issue. The VR when I put on the Z50 seems rock-solid and locks images in and eliminates shake even through the view finder.
I rate it 9/10 - it would be a 10 if it stayed at f/4 all the way out to 200mm

This lens is OK, soft on the edges, quality of the photo is average, lower than the 24-120 VR my old lens.
