Product Description

A perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility. REPORT ISSUED BY DALLAS, ARTHUR: An Alien is stalking us on board the Nostromo, and Executive Officer Kane is dead. The remaining crew and I are working together to patch the ship and do what we can to survive. I don’t know if we’ll make it. The Alien is big, fast, and deadly, and could be waiting just beyond the next hatch...Take on the role of the Nostromo’s crew and work together to move through the ship, gather supplies, and craft items to complete objectives. To win, complete your objectives and one of five final missions before your morale runs out. And remember—in space no one can hear you scream.

A deadly Alien stalks the crew of the commercial starship NOSTROMO while they struggle to survive. In this cooperative strategy game, players must work together to move through the ship, gather supplies, and craft items. Crew members must tread carefully as they work through different missions–the ALIEN could be just beyond the next bulkhead. To win, crew members must complete their starting objectives and one of five final missions. Crew members lose if their morale reaches zero, or if the Nostromo self-destructs.

Such a well designed game. I have introduced many people to it and everyone learns it fast and loves it. After a few rounds, it's fun to watch players instinctively delegating tasks and problem solving. The minis are a softer plastic but the detail is great. I have painted mine with miniature paints and sealed them with clear coat. Awesome game. Survival not guaranteed though it's tough.

I'm still a novice gamer, so I'm always a little worried when I get a new board game that it'll be too hard to learn or no one will play with me or it won't be fun. None of these are a problem. It's very easy to learn, especially if you've already played Horrified. The directions are almost identical. It was wonderfully fun even by myself. Although I can't get anyone to play with me yet, this game allows for a single player. And if playing only one character is too easy (because it can be), add in a second and play both characters. Considering it's a teamwork game, you can't cheat by being two or more people.

In summary, this is a fun game and I've played it several times with one other player.

Pros: If you play some of the Alien soundtracks while you're playing, it's creepy! The colors of the game and pieces are similar in style to the movie.

There is some randomization to game play, so you can play it several times and it still feels new. The characters you play, movements, and cards help with that.

It's "just hard enough" that you feel like it's a little challenging, but we've never not-won the game.

I very much like the game is cooperative - it's not players against each other, it's players against the alien (or Ash).

Cons: It's a little confusing to learn. There are a lot of rules and it's kinda complicated. But, that's coming from someone who mostly plays Scrabble.

There are some ambiguities to the rules, which at this moment I can't exactly remember. But it's clear that the beta testers didn't have enough time to address every scenario. Or, they did it on purpose and left it up to the players to decide in the moment.

There are not enough "mission" cards, including the final mission. I feel like if you've played the games maybe 6 times, you've done just about every scenario. It just seems like there could be maybe a half dozen more "achieve this thing" cards to make it playable more often.

There are a lot of little pieces that you have to organize when you play. If there was a little cardboard organizer in the base of the box, you could put all the little pieces in there and that would save some table space.

Some of the pieces have really small writing on them... says the middle-aged guy who doesn't want to wear his reading glasses.

Again, to sum up, it's a fun game. Mostly I just wish it had MORE of it.

I enjoy solo playing this game. It's challenging enough into where you feel that game itself is not too hard nor too boring. The final missions are a blast to do, my favorite one to play is "YOU HAVE MY SYMPATHIES" I won't spoil anything but if you played this game, you'll know why. It's rare for me to co-op this game, simply because my gaming buddy is not into these types of board games and most likely isn't a big fan of the Alien franchise but.. this game is perfect for me! :)

The only bad thing, that isn't related to the game is that i payed for a new game and I got a used one. With the Alien mini coming damaged. Please be aware!

This review is late as I bought this for my mother for Christmas. My family and I love Board Games and she also loves the Alien series. We finally got around to playing this last night (Saturday, February 5th) and we all very much enjoyed it. It didn't take us more than 5 - 7 minutes to understand how to play it, it's not overly complicated, and it's really fun, engaging, and intense. My only 'complaint' (I wouldn't really call this a complaint tbh) is how hard the Game is, losing morale (morale is essential to survival here, losing all of it means you and your team loses) is way too easy, there's a massive skill curve to it but that's fine because I always like a challenge. Overall, a fantastic product for Alien and Board Game fans alike!

Lots of reading required to learn this game. Recommend watching some videos to see how it's played before playing. Played incorrectly the first time but several times played later lots of fun for our family. I love that it's a corporative game with opportunity to be different each round. Different characters have different abilities, working as a team to solve many missions together.

Reviewed in Canada on July 30, 2023
I'm an Alien fan in the first place so I bought this for a collection purpose.

As much as I avoided "Jurassic Park Danger" because it seemed to have balance issues (I heard that dinosaurs tend to win 4 games on 5), "Alien: Fate of the Nostromo" is a cooperative game. The players team up against the odds and try to win as a group. It can be the great kind of games when some players in your group tend to be better at strategizing, leaving little room for the others to win. It also mean that you can also play solo because you don't need an opponent to play against (and most of those non coop games are usually not even fun only with 2 players but may require 3 or more people to be played at their best).

I only played a couple of games solo with 2 or 3 characters in my team. I have to agree that the more characters you have in your team, the harder the game tend to be. I may try with more crew when I'll be fully confident in my knowledge of the rules but it seems already that it's better played with 2 or 3 people at most... and bring more only for extra challenge... throw Ash (optional character) in the pit if you really want to make your crew have the hardest time of their lives! xD

As a fan of Alien, everything is about the first movie and I really enjoyed the attention to details. Many little details on the board and rules made me smile. It's really a must have for any fan. I'm only disappointed that my box got damaged during handling as it probably lost a lot of its collector value but Amazon offered a discount to apologize (i thank them very much for their kindness).

The overall quality of the game is impressive. Ravensburger are not mainly in the boardgame market. They are a high quality puzzle company more than anything else. With how terrifyingly balanced was "Jurassic Park Danger", I was afraid that "Alien: Fate of the Nostromo" would have some major downsides like rules that don't make sense or don't cover all possible case scenarios (this unfortunately happens way too often with board games). I'm really surprised that so far, rules seemed to cover everything. And for the most subtle questions, most already been asked on the forums of Board Game Geek where the creator of the game himself, Scott Rogers, answered them all.

Overall, a great cooperative game that will please most players, especially Alien's fans! The rules are clear and complete, the game is made with the high quality materials that Ravensburger are well known for.. all this paired with more than a decent price, it's really a good choice especially for more beginner/casual players!
