I consider myself a unapologetic lover/enthusiast of Star Trek, but will be the first to admit my knowledge pales somewhat compared to that of a proper convention going Trekker/Trekkie.

For example, I knew that the United Federation of Planets was founded with Humans and Vulcans being main players, but I didn't know that this was in addition to two other races (Andorians and Tellarians) as being the four founding members

I knew that the galaxy had been divided into four quadrants but didn't know the specifics (at least not in detail) of where earth, Bejor, and other worlds were located precisely. Despite being aware of the Q, the Borg, and watching Voyager, I didn't realize just how isolated and lonely the Delta Quadrant was.

Etc. etc. etc.

While this could serve as a primer to someone wanting to get into Star Trek canon/mythos, it serves equally well for those who simply want to know more about the universe they love and have some gaps filled in along the way.
