    Product Description

The ultimate telescope for the novice to intermediate planetary astronomer! The Inspire 80AZ offers the longest focal length in the Inspire line for higher power views of the planets and is packed with features never seen before on entry level telescopes. Inspire features fully coated glass optics, a solid altazimuth mount with a unique asymmetrical design, a sturdy steel tripod with integrated fold-up accessory tray, an integrated smartphone adapter, built-in red LED flashlight, large projected reticle finder scope, erect image optics, and a focus micrometer for easily returning to the same focus point. The Inspire has the easiest setup of any telescope in its class. Simply pop open the tripod legs, turn the lock knob on the accessory tray, and attach the telescope tube to the base using the quick release dovetail mount. You are now ready to observe! The lens cap has an integrated smartphone adapter built into it. Place your smartphone against the rubberized friction surface on the outside of the cap so your camera is viewing through the imaging port. Secure the smartphone using the two adjustable bungee cords. The inside of the lens cap has a fitting that secures to your eyepiece using two set screws. Voila! You are now ready to take high power images through the telescope. The mount has a red LED flashlight built-in. Turn the flashlight on to illuminate your accessory tray with a soft red glow. The flashlight can easily be removed from the mount to provide red light where you need it most. The focus micrometer is a numbered scale that indicates the focuser’s position. It allows quick return to a specific focus point for specific targets such as a bird nest, infinity focus, etc.

As a total beginner (I’ve never looked through a telescope before buying this one.) I decided to roll the dice on this scope and am very glad I did! When I received the telescope, the finderscope was defective. Celestron’s customer service was fantastic and I had a new finderscope in just a few days. I have been loving using this scope every clear night. Really fantastic views of the planets and the moon, and very easy for the beginner to use, learn, and understand. I haven’t been able to find many deep sky objects, but I chalk that up to living in the city/lack of experience. This really is a perfect beginner telescope, at least it has been for me, and I will love it for years. Highly recommend, but make sure you pick up a Barlow and moon filter!

Exactly what I needed for life on the Bay to see dolphin and manatees up close once sited.

For the price it’s great, and is made of quality material. It comes with 2 eyepiece magnifications, both pretty powerful, but could really use a 30mm to go with the 20&10mm for even faster siteing response..

Reading the reviews it appears that people are accidentally buying this for upclose planet viewing, I don’t believe this is the intent for this unit. With the wide field of view, portability, and easy set up, this one is perfect for terrestrial viewing, quickly locating sites objects.

The only complaint is that although all components are made of nice material, the engineering is missing a little, for instance the telescope slide bracket doesn’t have a stop on the glide, and the two thumb screws used to hold in place are way long and dig into the bracket. This works fine but being the only weaknesses and so easily addressed, should be corrected. I still rated it 5-Stars since there is nothing like it for the way I use mine, more like a super target spotter.

This is a recent purchase, so I might adjust the score later (that's why I gave it a "4", for now). I have used it several times and found everything is working just fine. The product came well-packed and without damage. There is a problem with one of the focus adjust dials, but I think it is operator-error... maybe. Overall, however, I am pleased. If someone is looking for movie-style images of the planets, they will be disappointed. Yet, it does deliver what it claims. This is a great introductory product for Astronomy. I would recommend, as I have done, that you purchase additional lenses for more detailed viewing. As it comes, the optics are good quality and set-up is very easy. I definitely recommend this telescope.

Easy to use with features that the BIG scopes do not have such as highly useful removable red flashlight embedded above accessory tray. Also the scope cap doubles as smart phone holder for astrophotography. Lightweight, quality sight, crisp optics, and neat focus indicator numbers on side of scope for easy return to reference. Stable tripod configuration with locking accessory tray for added sturdiness. Nothing flimsy about the tripod. Bought exclusively for solar eclipse but already see that we will be using it for more sightings. Also, we ordered the 100AZ model which arrived in a sealed 70AZ box but opened anyway to find the 100AZ as ordered. Manufacturer hiccup maybe. Easy to align red sight with scope which we did in less than 2 minutes. Excellent value!

My son (7) received this as a birthday present from his grandparents. He has been asking for a telescope since his 4th birthday. He had a small kids scope that barely helped him find the moon and was difficult to look through. My mother wanted something that he could use, but also be able to find what he was looking at and see clearly. This hit the nail on the head. The finder scope was easy to calibrate, and my son is able to find and align the moon and some starts on his own. He needs adult supervision and some help occasionally, but we love that the telescope has encouraged his love of space and not been a discouragement.
We also purchased a kit from Celestron that included a moon filter and a 15mm lense and I believe it was smart addition.
Even the adults have been amazed by the detail we could see. It also works wonderfully as a day scope.
The only downside is the mount can be a bit wobbly and is very easy to bump even when locked, made it difficult to keep on stars as they moved out of view. (But for our beginner purposes this was wonderful).

Bought as a gift for a novice astronomer and it works wonderfully. We've had others in the past that weren't great and caused a lot of trouble trying to get the lens to focus clearly. This telescope works great! Great selections of lenses and my son loves being able to see the moon up close AND also see Jupiter and it's moons and the rings of Saturn. He's excited to get even more lenses and has certainly developed a love of astronomy. With a good camera in your phone you can take some amazing photos.
