Pretty awesome! Great Expansion/Extension!
I've wanted to purchase this for years, and could *finally* afford it this year! YAY!
So pumped. This is the combination of a few of my favorite things about Catan:
Exploration, unusual trade items, interactions between teamwork and competition, etc.
Quality:
A few pieces off-center / defective, but still playable!
I just emailed the Catan Shop to propose a credit / replacement for the defective / missing components I have in my box here.
If they aren't able, I'll go the Amazon exchange / replace / credit route.
I had the same off-center printing others have mentioned, but only on a few pieces and they're totally fine to still play with. Even with my OCD and Autism stuff, I'll be ok.
I was missing the Resource Cards, and have a broken Brown Pirate Ship.
I can possibly repair it myself, and will gladly do that if I'm given a credit or replacement for the defective pieces.
Not a huge deal. I'm such a Catan fan that I really can't wait to use it regularly, in any condition.
So glad to finally have this! I can start playing with it regularly as soon as this broken piece thing is worked out. Yay!

Endless Catan Adventures
Love the expansions and the different scenarios it has to offer! All the game pieces are always in good quality. The directions booklet can be sometimes intimidating looking, but as long as you’ve played the base game a few times, you’ll find it easy to play with all the new expansions.

Style: Explorers & PiratesVerified Purchase
This is our first Catan expansion, that I picked after googling "Which is the best Catan expansion?" It is much more intense that we expected, though we were learning to play with our 9 year old son. He is able to play and even won, but the length of the game is rough for him. Our 12 year old daughter lost interest quickly and my husband was banging his head on the table!
Be careful when popping the hexes out of their cardboard frames. I tried to do this very carefully, but some of them ripped on the underside. This matters because they are flipped over and then discovered and now you can tell what some of them are before you flip them over.
You learn to play through several different scenarios - we have yet to learn the final one. It does add a lot to the game, as you have to decide whether to focus on pirate lairs or fishing etc.
Our son said that he felt bad for the guy who had to write the rules for this expansion, as it's quite complicated! It is a little addictive though and I am glad that we bought this expansion. Just make sure you have several hours free to set up and learn the game - several times.
