Fun build, but breakable and a bit expensive

Fun build, but breakable and a bit expensive
I built this set with my 9 year old cousin. Though this is a great set to buy for children who like Overwatch or just cool rocket-ships in general, it has a few significant downsides (namely the price and some of the features) that anyone potentially buying it should be aware of. I’ve summarized my pros and cons in greater detail below.Pros:At 8” this set is towering, and makes an excellent display piece. The play features, including a hidden turret, two cockpits and the ability to split into two parts, all work really well. Disconnecting the ship in particular feels very fluid and my 9 year old cousin had a lot of fun breaking the ship apart and putting it back together (actually, more like breaking it apart and expecting me to put it back together for him)! All of the figures, very popular and recognizable characters from the video game Overwatch, are fantastically detailed. Winston (the gorilla figure) is about two or three times as big as your normal lego figure. Though some people may say the printing on Mercy’s face seeming a bit faded, I personally did not mind it, and my 9 year old cousin didn’t even notice. We both agreed that the figures were one of our favorite parts of the set, in addition to how the ship and display stand look together in general.Cons:The launch tower doesn’t do much other than hold the ship. Though it looks really nice, once you’ve built it, you realized it’s basically just a giant display stand. While the top of the tower has a little platform, there is not much else of substance to it and overall playability is limited. Moreover, the ship does have the tendency to break apart, particularly the hatches and wing-flaps which can easily rip off if too much force is applied when trying to open them or if docked onto the landing platform the wrong way. Also, the interior of the ship is essentially empty. While it is a good holding unit for Winston, my 9 year old cousin was disappointed when he realized that there was virtually nothing inside (see picture). Adding to this, it's sometimes hard to close the side hatches all the way. The blue figure, Pharah will not fit into the cockpit, unless her armor is taken off, something that isn't noticeable unless you look really hard at the photo of the box on Amazon. Moreover, set 75970 (which is supposed to accompany this set) has a tendency to pop off when being attached to this rocket-ship. Finally, the at 89.99 + tax for 730 pieces, (or about $0.12 a piece) when I bought it, it wasn’t exactly a steal. That being said, now that it’s on sale the price of $71.99 ($0.09) which feels much more reasonable. As a student and dedicated lego fan, I hope my review helps inform your decision!
