Directions

Open swab sleeve 1 inch; remove without touching bristles. Save sleeve. Firmly roll swab between dog’s cheek and gums for 15 seconds per swab. Insert swab handle in carton hole and air dry for 5 min. Repeat for second swab. Activate kit and fill in info. Write Activation Code Number on back of Sample ID Sticker. Reinsert dry swabs into protective sleeve. DO NOT reseal sleeve. Place swabs into the carton; seal. A pre-paid shipping label is on the carton. Send in the kit. Results in ~2-3 weeks.

When my dog was a puppy I tested her using Canine heritage and it came back with rediculus results. Supposedly what she shared the most DNA with was a viszla and old English bloodhound. She is 12lbs. I knew it was wrong but they had disclosure statements saying the results couldn't be disputed. So for 15 years when someone asked me what she was I just said "little brown dog." My guess was Chihuahua, terrier, Pomeranian, maybe dachund. Recently retested her with wisdom panel thinking it didn't work because she was not cooperative, but it did and now I know. 15 different breeds! Mostly terrier (Parsons, Jack, Rat8, Wirehaired) explains the crazy, Poodle explains the smart, Pekinese explains the color fur short legs and Bossiness. Those are the top and I was surprised to learn only 2% Chihuahua and 2% Pomeranian.

I admit that I was skeptical about this but I'm so happy that I went ahead and had the test done. My rescue came to live with me just 5 months ago. My vet gave her thoughts on his age and breeds and the results matched up almost perfectly with what my vet suspected. I will recommend this test to other dog owners. After finally, deciding which DNA test to go with, I am extremely happy I went with this one! A lot of the others showed great ratings, but when you actually read the reviews, they were a little sketchy. From start to finish, it took 4 weeks-from ordering, to receiving, to swabbing and sending in, to receiving the results. I appreciate that. I could keep up online with the results process. Upon receiving the results, the website was very easy to move through, and explained everything! If I could rate this higher I would and recommend this to anyone curious on their pets true breed!

I was hesitant about the price of these kits and held out for a long time but finally bit the bullet and boy was it the best decision ever! If you’re hesitant to buy this to find out more about your pups, don’t be! This was 100% worth it to find out more about our two boys. It was so easy to do and once I mailed it back it only took about 2 weeks for the results to come in for both our boys. Found out so much about the breeds of them both and also found tons of relatives. Our two dogs are about 6 years apart, we adopted our youngest dog from a shelter a few towns over and got our oldest from a family friend in town who’s dog ran off and came back pregnant, and actually found out that our two boys share a very very distant relative :) the only thing I wish it would tell you is what the relation is between the dogs when they find a relative through a dna match. It only says “close family”, “extended family”, and “distant relation” and then the percentage so unless it’s obviously 50% 50% and a parental relation, it is kind of hard to figure out what the two dogs are family wise!

If you love your dogs as much as we do in our house then you most definitely so should do the test. Didn’t think it was possible but I love my boys even more now 💗 finding out breeds and traits has helped me gain a whole new level of love for my boys! Do it, do it, do it!!!

This was awesome, and I'm so glad we used it! We have a big, doofy looking dog that we adopted years back but never bothered to try to figure out what he was. He looks like a gigantic boxer with some other weird quirks thrown in. We originally thought maybe he was a Dogo Argentino, but when we started looking some more, we thought American Bulldog with some boxer thrown in. We got the test and gave him the ol' swab in the mouth - he didn't really like it too much, but fortunately only a couple seconds of swabbing between his cheek and gums was enough for the test. Sent it off, got the confirmation in a few days, then the results in about 2 weeks. Much to our amazement, he is 75% boxer, 12.5% American Bulldog, and 12.5% Standard Bulldog!

Here's where people get bent out of shape about this product: they think that it can magically discern everything in your dog's bloodline, and that your dogs looks have to comport with their genetics. Not so much. If you have a true mutt (e.g. a dog whose parents were mutts, and whose grandparents were also mutts), it's not going to help you. It's going to come back as a mixed breed. These DNA tests can't go back an infinite number of generations. It's testing DNA, not doing a genealogy project on your pupper. Similarly, I've seen several reviews were the reviewers say, "Oh this says my dog is part chihuahua but he's 50 pounds! It must be wrong!" Again, not quite. Just because your dog has the genetics of a certain breed does not mean that those genes are *expressed* in your dog's appearance. Just as with humans, just because we have certain genetics does not mean that we physically exhibit each of those genetic traits.

Thus, if you understand the product's limitations, this is a great tool to give you some insight into your furry friend.

Don’t buy if you are in Australia, they don’t service here. They are also impossible to contact for issues, took half a year before I got to someone, who then let me know that our efforts to post to the US were wasted as the sample was nowhere to be found, and that they don’t do this for our area. Not sure if US people or areas have a better experience but this one was not good for us. The two stars is just cause they eventually did give us our money back after much running around and emails.

Mambo was sold as a caboodle, but he looks nothing like a poodle. He is also far too big (22kg) to be a cavoodle. Wisdom Panel results came back showing that Mambo is 37.5 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, 25% Golden Retriever, 12.5% Labrador Retriever, 12.5% Poodle and 12.5% Shih Tzu. (No picture and no information about Mambo given.) The fact that poodle was in Mambo's genes finally justified why he was tagged as a cavoodle. The strong retriever component also made sense in view of his built. Now everytime someone asks what breed is Mambo, I can give a definitive answer. Really cool product, thank you! =D
