Product Description

While other component manufacturers have jumped excitedly on the carbon fiber bandwagon, Shimano has remained committed to the use of metals in its components, only utilizing carbon where it felt the material offered a distinct benefit. Given the carbon composite body in the new Dura-Ace PD-9000 pedals, we'd have to say that Shimano found carbon a fitting substitute for its long-tenured alloy designs. The biggest difference in this iteration is the cleat and how it interacts with the pedal. Dubbed the SMH-12, the cleat provides just one degree of float. Now, that's certainly not much, but if your bike fit is as it should be, it will keep your leg in perfect alignment, and minimize strain on your knees and muscles.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said about these pedals, they're awesome! I really like the replaceable metal contact plate.

Really love these pedals. They were so cheap on amazon that I decided to buy a pair and I instantly liked them. They are light but feel very strong. The spindle is beefy and the click in/out action is smooth. There are no pressure points and the pressure is spread evenly underneath my foot. The cleats can wear out somewhat quick with heavy walking or running (triathlon transitions) but hold up decently from normal use. These came with a set of the SM-SH12 cleats which are nice as well. I ended up buying a second pair for my other bike. The quality is awesome. I don't know if I'd be willing to pay full price but if they're reasonably discounted I say go for it. You won't be disappointed and you can take them with you if you sell your bike.

Been road cycling for about 6 years now. Last 6,000 miles or so have been on Shimano R540 SPD-SL pedals and these pedals have already been a noticeable jump in performance. The biggest difference already felt is the larger surface area for cleat-to-pedal interface. Better power distribution and less pressure points. (ie my feet don't go numb as often, and better efficiency during hill climbs.) I did also notice the weight difference from the aluminum R540's to the carbon PD-9000's. Time will tell if the carbon will hold up to the aluminum in durability over the long haul.

Likewise since I have only had them for ~1 week, I can't overly comment on the bearings. They are smoother than my R540's, but the biggest test is how long they will stay in that smooth form before starting to show wear.

Very nice, lightweight pedals. Like other Shimano products they are top notch yet industrial products. If you are individual freaks you might find more exclusive products. I have them on my carbon fiber Cannondale race bike and the fit well. The pedal function is perfect.

After using the same pedals on my bike for 15 years I needed to get new ones after one side broke. I broke these pedals in with a 40 mile ride right off the bat and they are a world of difference to what I had. They feel extremely solid. So much so that I was a little concerned about lack of some play in them during the ride compared to my old ones but had no issues with that at all. The cleats seem like they will wear out fast and I had a heck of a time fitting them to my equally old sidi shoes (the bolts provided were not as long as they really needed to be) but on the whole I am very pleased with these pedals. I’ll evaluate again after 1000 miles on them.

These were cool until it came time to service them. I did not notice that power transfer increase or anything like that... They're fine but literally I did not notice a difference over my 4 year old look pedals.....These developed some play in the bearings after about a year and a half which is not at all uncommon for pedals. No problems there. But servicing them is a bit of a nightmare and is unnecessarily difficult. The open cage bearings make no sense... i have no idea why shimano used these. In todays industry, sealed bearings are a much much better option. I will be switching back to Look Keo's from now on. Anyone want to pick up some used Dura Ace pedals for cheap? I got some!

These work flawlessly. Very smooth bearings and lightweight. I do regret not getting the extended version since I have big feet, I think I would have benefited with the extra space. I bought another set for my hybrid bike after using these on my trek madone. Note that these clips are not interchangeable with other color clips! I had purchased the Ultegra set originally for my hybrid but returned them so I didn't have to buy different shoes, or have to change the clips out every time I ride.

Awesome hardware! Exactly what I expected and at a great price. Once I got used to clipping in and out everything works very smoothly. The cleats are nice too since the hit points are a softer plastic and not the usual hard, noisy, slippery plastic of other cleats. A standard pedal wrench DID NOT work with these and you must use the allen wrench to install them.

GOODBYE SPEEDPLAY! I can tell you after having ridden on Speedplay pedals for more than 8 years, I do not miss them one bit. I'm amazed at the success and longevity that brand has enjoyed, considering the finicky and very fiddly system of cleat screws. They have to be tightened to an exact tension, which is so light they are on the verge of falling out...which happened to my sets at least 2 or 3 times over the years. Why do I want yet another part of my cycling kit that needs constant monitoring for possible failure? NO THANKS!

With the Shimano Dura-Ace type cleat, you set the position, screw it down tight and forget it! Just a cursory glance once-in-awhile to check for wear on the durable and cheap to replace cleat. Cleat replacement for the Speedplay system is much, much more. In fact, I could only come up with a single negative for these pedals. If you bike even falls over one time, the nice looking Dura Ace sticker on the outboard part of the pedal will be pretty much destroyed. Shouldn't have let my bike fall! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars pd-9000,pd-6800比較してみました。
Reviewed in Japan on March 13, 2016
