Product Description

Tacx Neo 2 Smart Indoor Cycling Trainer::Tacx equipped the NEO 2 Smart with an improved and faster chipset, enabling a smoother and more responsive control of the NEO motor. This results in a quieter indoor cycling experience and paves the way for new and immersive features. With the new Pedal stroke analysis feature you can improve your power distribution and cycling performance. This is made this possible by adding a capacitive left and right detection sensor, enabling this bike trainer to measure the exact position of both your legs. The familiar NEO Smart features are still there. Like Road Feel, with which you experience the vibrating sensation of riding on cobblestones, gravel and many other road surfaces (in Tacx Films and Zwift). And that exciting feeling of accelerating into a descent after you’ve reached the top of a mountain, simulated with the Descent simulation feature. Also, like the NEO, it is equipped with Dynamic inertia. In contrast to the mass inertia of a flywheel, Dynamic inertia compensates for weight, speed and angle of inclination, improving the cycling feeling significantly. With the Isokinetic and Isotonic training modes you train on a fixed power or speed to improve your pedal stroke. These modes are available for free in the Tacx Utility app. This NEO 2 is equipped with the same powerful resistance unit as the NEO, being able to simulate incline gradients up to 25% and sprints up to 2200 Watts. What differentiates the NEO series from other trainers is the maximum resistance when cycling at low speeds, small gears and very steep climbs. Enabling realistic hill climb simulations. Also, one of the key benefits is that there is no need for maintenance and calibration. In contrast to all other indoor trainers and direct drives, there are no physical transmissions (like a belt) or other internal or external influencers on the power measurement. It measures your power across the entire operating range accurately within 1%, making sure you that y

I am an amateur triathlete, and in the winter time my training especially my cycling drops and I play catchup in the Spring. This year I invested in TACX, I was hesitant due to the cost. I would recommend this product to anyone. You can use it plugged in or not, can connect to a computer, apple tv etc and use the TACX cycling app, garmin, sufferfest, zwift, trainer road or some others. Totally worth it, will maintain my cycling fitness over the winter. Buy the WAHOO mat for ultimate silence. BUY A SWEAT GUARD! I would also recommend putting a towel underneath and have a fan/window nearby. You will sweat puddles. My one gripe! The hinges are starting to show rust pitting... why TACX WHY?? Charge me extra, make the hinges stainless this pitting is terrible.

Package arrived in good condition when estimated. There are several online reviews/videos that advertise the easy/seamless setup from opening box to riding. I followed these videos and without any setbacks was in business very quickly. I ordered the Tacx Neo 2 without any extras. I purchased the same cassette that I have on my bike (Shimano 11 speed 11x30) and installed it without any trouble. Of note, a cassette wrench was helpful and not included. I loaded the bike on and started pedaling. I had already downloaded Zwift on my MacBook. You need to pedal a few times to activate/turn on the Neo, so that MacBook was able to connect via bluetooth. This worked quickly and easily. My Garmin watch also recognized the power/cadence sensor of Tacx. I have only had the unit for a few days and done a few workouts, but so far I am very pleased.

I’ve had my Neo 2 for more than six months and use it 3x a week. It’s a perfect trainer, IMHO. It seamlessly integrates with my Garmin accessories and Zwift. My family appreciates it’s near total silence since most of my trainer sessions are early morning. And I appreciate the road-like feel. Pretty darn close to the real deal. I’ve never ever had an issue with this product. It’s really a pleasure to say this about a product in this day and age. Thanks Tacx...and please keep up the quality, Garmin, as the new owner!

But it works with every other 3rd party software I've tried.
(Zwift, Sufferfest, even my Wahoo trainer software)
It feels SO real, even the road surface feature. ( I thought at first the trainer broke when i didn't realize that I was riding on a plank bridge on Zwift! Then I realized it was working perfectly!)
I just wish that I could get the Tacx Software to work better, since the videos of the courses look amazing.
I'll update if I can get it to work.

Probably a great trainer, but I can't get the Tacx apps to recognize there's a trainer here. Strava, Wahoo, Rouvy, and every other app/device I can dig up all talk to the trainer, but the Tacx apps don't recognize ther's a trainer next to them in my living room. No spinning arrow, no menus to try - just nothing... Tech support gives little unhelpful comments a day or so after each email I send them.

If you're one of the lucky one's to get the app to work - then you'll probably enjoy it. Apparently, I need to have friends come over with their various devices, check to see if/which of their devices can load Tacx apps and talk to my trainer. Then - I'll ascertain if it's the Tacx trainer that doesn't work, or the app on my Android. Then, maybe, I'll buy another phone/tablet or something that might work.

Another amusing thing I see - there is no shortage of videos on the web where Taxc guys demonstrate how to open the box and pull the trainer out. They also show how to put a cogset on the thing. The how-to videos they put out allow us to master the obvious (!!!). It's like winning a free supply of those little ketchup packets they give out at McDonalds. If it doesn't work - videos showing how to open a box are quite frustrating...

Wahoo has made be lazy; I've become accustomed to unboxing things and using them.

If you order this product - make sure to save the box & shipping materials. Then you can review the how-to video in reverse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good feel; high quality trainer
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 3, 2019
I'm very satisfied with this product; I don't use it with any simulator like Zwift, I use it in order to basically do interval power based trainings.

What I like the most Is the very good feeling that It offers, It seems like you are riding your bike in a real road. I use the app just in order to set the slop mode sometimes.

If you use Zwift It will be very good, just be aware that there is a bit of lag when changing slope; I think in part It's due to the Bluetooth connection that just by Its self takes 350-500 ms of latency, and you must add the time that the trainer takes to adjust its inner mechanism. This is a characteristic, not a flaw, and this could just compromise the simulation of a bump, because it would require an instantaneous slope changes; and this is a feature that at the moment, no trainer offers.

But If you just want to train and to try to simulate the most hard circuit, this is not a problem, because apart latency, the ERG mode works very very well and allow you to simulate the most hard climbs.

So, if you think to spend a lot of time on a trainer, I think that could be important to choose one good trainer, like this one, in order to make your trainings more funny and effective.

One thing that could be nice if they installed a small wheel underneath, in order to easily move It.
Every every ergo-meter that I ever used have a small wheel; you just have to tilt the ergometer so the wheel touch the floor and you can move it very easily.
