High Quality Gaming IPS Monitor

I am an avid gamer and I know the ugliness of bland images from a TN panel. Fortunately, a top monitor brand like Acer finally released a 240 IPS gaming monitor that is really high quality (build and resolution wise) and is also not extravagantly costly like Alienware monitors. I switched from 60Hz to 240Hz with this monitor and oh man CS GO feels soooo much better with this Predator XB253Q Gx monitor. I was keen on getting an IPS panel because I also stream Netflix and Amazon prime shows on my monitor and I wanted the colors to be rich.

Very very happy with my purchase.

1 con I experienced recently: I found image retention on my monitor last night but I googled about it and it is common with IPS panels. Although, I might contact Acer warranty team if it happens more frequently.

did the good old ufo test and had no struggles there, g-sync and refresh rate, as well as speakers worked after only a little bit of configuration and it feels smooth as hell, huge upgrade from 60hz, do recommend but I also recommend looking at monitors that are 144hz and 240hz at a retail store because some people cannot feel the difference between 144hz and 240hz, so spending the extra buck you could be spending to guarantee or secure bigger screen size or something like that, might be of more interest to you

Thinking about this monitor? Than you're probably looking to play fast paced competitive games. IMO get it, This monitor in no way disappoints. This will most likely be one of the best rated monitors in the IPS - 24.5" - 1080p - 240hz category this year. If any issues arise for me I'll update this review.

Really Bad Image Retention Issues

On paper, this monitor is REALLY good. It has 240Hz, IPS, very low input lag and a low response time. In practice this monitor is a VERY good monitor as well, if not for one REALLY bad issue. The monitor has bad image retention issues that show up randomly in certain situations. The issue will not go away until you either wait an extended period of time, or turn on the "super sharpness" setting in the monitor's OSD. If you turn on the "super sharpness" setting, the issue does not even happen at all. At least, I haven't had the issue with the "super sharpness" setting on. The problem is that then the image is super sharp.

If I had came across this issue during the Amazon return period, I would have sent back the monitor for a refund. I have tried to contact Acer support and they are non-responsive at best. At worst, they are just flat out not helpful. I would really hate to have to buy ANOTHER monitor to remedy this situation, as I just bought this one, but that seems to be where this situation is going.

Update: I tried Gsync and it is absolutely terrible on this monitor. The overdrive is far too strong for lower refresh rates. While using Gsync and dipping into lower frame rates, there is a VERY large amount of overshooting. The overshoot is so bad with Gsync on that Gsync is completely unusable with this monitor.
