Top review from the United States

Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2021
The wait is finally over. I had nothing but praise for Jonathan Hickman's vision for Mutantkind when House/Powers of X came out. I was however of a more divided opinion on his solo X-Men book. The series was largely setup without much payoff, issue after issue. Now though Hickman is leaving the X-Books for other, as yet unrevealed projects, and questions left hanging will be answered. Will Inferno burn Krakoa to the ground? Probably not, but it will try. This a really satisfying issue to read, and rewarding for those who have been reading since the start of this era. It touches upon everything from Orchis, to the Nimrod Sentinel, to Moira X, and other little developments that have happened over the past couple of years. Nothing more shocking than that final scene though. I don't know where exactly this is all going but I know Hickman does and that's what will make this worthwhile. That, and the incredible artwork starting with Valerio Schiti. It's takes real talent to keep a comic book looking dynamic whether in an up close panel or a wide shot. It's taken over a month of waiting but this has not disappointed to start.
