Jim Starlin introduced not only Thanos, but Shang-Chi and many other memorable characters. After seemingly killing both Adam Warlock and Thanos in one of Marvel's earlier multi-title cosmic arcs - for which he won two Eagle Awards - Starlin wrote Marvel's first graphic novel, The Death of Captain Marvel. At DC, under the pseudonym "Steve Apollo," he co-wrote Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes, including the series' pivotal 250th issue; he later wrote Batman, including the controversial "Death in the Family" storyline, and the Batman: The Cult miniseries, and collaborated with Mike Mignola on Cosmic Odyssey, exploring themes similar to those he introduced at Marvel. Returning to Marvel to write Silver Surfer, he resurrected Adam Warlock and Thanos, both of whom figured prominently in a veritable franchise of miniseries he both wrote and penciled: Infinity Gauntlet, Infinity War, Infinity Crusade, Infinity Abyss and more, plus the Adam Warlock and the Infinity Watch monthly. Less typical work included Daredevil/Black Widow: Abbatoir and the Punisher: POV miniseries. In his later DC work - including Rann-Thanagar War, Death of the New Gods, and the post-52 titles Mystery in Space and Strange Adventures - Starlin continued his explorations of cosmic themes. At Devil's Due Publishing, he wrote and penciled the miniseries Cosmic Guard/Kid Kosmos.

Deserves 10 stars!!!! Jim Starlin is one of the best writers and creators of all time. This omnibus is the best Marvel Omnibus I have read thus far. Collected in this edition are:Silver Surfer 34 - 38, 40, 44 - 60Thanos Quest 1 - 2Infinity Gauntlet 1 - 6Clock & Dagger 18Spider-man 17Incredible Hulk 383 - 385Dr. Strange, Sorcerer Supreme 33 - 36 (plus material from 31 - 33)Quasar 26 - 27Sleepwalker 7Reading those individual issues won't be the same. Not only does this omnibus collected all these issues together, but the issues are placed in order of reading so that by reading cover to cover, you get the complete story. The movie Avengers 3: Infinity War is based on this story arc. Must have and a must read before watching the movie!

For me, this is the best comic book event--ever. I have been waiting awhile for the omnibus re-print. The book itself delivered in outstanding condition. My book orders from Amazon occasionally arrive in rough condition. This beast of a book arrived perfect. I actually forgot it delivered. So, when I opened the box and saw it arrived, I could not contain my pure joy. I look forward to re-reading in this omnibus format and reading some of the crossovers storylines for the first time. I could not be more ecstatic. Great writing, great artwork, the ultimate antagonist, and two epic battles. This was a must have for me. I believe a must have for any fan of the cinematic event (which has little in common with this comic book event), general comic book fan or anyone who just wants an excellent read.

My 1st exposure to Jim Starlins character THANOS was when I 1st read his run on SILVER SURFER in the early 90's. I was blown away back then by the dialog and overall story telling. That same story of course, was the beginning of the INFINITY GAUNTLET, which in my opinion, was the greatest event crossover Marvel has ever done. THANOS may be a rip-off off Jack Kirby's DARKSEID, but he's an even better character. More depth and weight in this series then DARKSEID ever had. (No disrespect to the great "King" Kirby. Kirby was the greatest talent ever to work in comics )
This collection is a "must have" for any fan of Marvel Cosmic stories & also the MCU'S films. All of Marvel's films are headed towards Starlins INFINITY GAUNTLET event which they have dubbed, "AVENGERS:INFINITY WAR part 1 & 2". My only issue with this omnibus is the chronological order. It's a bit off & requires the reader to re-arrange the titles with book marks if one desires to read it in perfect sequence. Overall the book is 5 stars. Love Ron Lim's art & Starlins overall vision is @ the pinnacle of the medium in this collection.

I love it....I recall when I was a teen and this series came out. I collected some of the original issues but there was way too much for me to keep track of, and even if I could have got my hands on these comics; I was way too broke to buy them. I aint broke no mo and this was my chance to pick it up in one shot, so I did. I plan on getting the other omnibus in the series as well.

I never been a huge fan of Ron Lim's art and i used to have mixed feelings about this saga (mostly because George Pérez left the series after #4), but i always thought this story was the closest thing to Crisis on Infinite Earths for MARVEL. Thanks to Jim Starlim for his amazing and complex concept. He is, undoubtedly, the master of "cosmic" comics.
But, after reading again IG, after more than 20 years, all i can say is: this is ONE OF THE GREATEST MARVEL EVENTS of all time!
This book is one of the most beautiful editions of the entire OMNIBUS line. From the the dustjacket to the extras, everything is perfect!
And, after so many years, i can finally say that Ron Lim's art (the main artist here) is clean, beautiful e serves the story very well!
Enjoy!

This is solely related to the condition of the book, not the stories inside. I've had issues with Amazon books in the past arriving damaged, so I'm always a little wary of purchasing them. While the first one they delivered had a huge ding in the front cover, the replacement copy was in excellent condition.

Infinity Gauntlet has always been my favorite event of all time. It's the one that truly got me hard core into comics and I jumped on this omnibus the second I realized it was available. The book doesn't disappoint...it's every bit as good as I remember and then some. My only complaint, and the reason I deducted a star, is because the tie-in issues are presented out of order. The way the book is set up, it shows the lead up to the main series, then Infinity Gauntlet 1-6, and THEN the tie-in issues at the end. It would have made much more sense to have all the issues in chronological order, placing the tie-in issues where they were supposed to be in relation to the main series. Other than that, great book and a fantastic addition to any collection.

Some Omnibuses are better than others. This one is up there. Beautifully put together. Thanos is a bit of a Jerk.... Thanks to the Marvel team (Beazley) for putting it all together. Worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uma bela reunião de histórias
Reviewed in Brazil on August 10, 2015

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great book. In my opinion
Reviewed in Canada on February 20, 2015
This is a great book. In my opinion, its one of the few "event series" that actually lives up to the expectations. Most others I find lacking. But the infinty gauntlet is just awesome. The omnibus is huge. The first 400 plus pages includes a great a great run of silver surfer comics, and a thanos miniseries. This is mainly a prelude and shows us thanos getting ressurected, his battles with the surfer, and how he gains the infinity gauntlet. Its a great story that is the perect buildup to the main event. Next is the actual infinity gauntlet series. This is about 240 plus pages. It basically the showdown between thanos and... well... everyone in the universe. And it does not dissapoint. Very well done. I loved it. Now after that, we have about 500 pages of single issue tie ins. Some take place before infinity gauntlet. Some after. Some during. Personally i really didnt find them all that great, and not nessicary to the story at all. I would have preferred if they left it out and lowered the price. Or better yet, included the "warlock and the infinity watch" issues 1 to 6 to show us the aftermath after the battles. It would have been alot more fluid. Because quite frankly? The tie ins at the end takes you out of the story. But besides this minor complaint. This omnibus is worth the buy.
