Not exactly a full sequel to Marvel's Spiderman (2018), but a lengthy expansion like how 'Uncharted Lost Legacy' was for Uncharted 3. MSRP is $20 less than full priced PS5 games, and is one of PS5 flagship titles. Main campaign will last around 12-15 hours; more if you want to unlock all trophies or play New Game +
--Graphics/Performance:
Drastically improved from Spiderman 2018 when playing on PS5. Able to turn on ray tracing with 4k resolution, but frame rate drops to 30fps from 60fps
Load times are instantaneous on PS5. No more than 3 seconds
City has similar layout, but with a snow, winter theme to it
--Story:
Peter and Mary Jane go abroad to do some journalism leaving Miles to protect the city. Miles balance helping his mom campaign for City Council, and protecting the city against Roxxon Energy Corporation and a high-tech organization called the Underground with it's leader the Tinkerer.
--Gameplay:
Similar to previous game, but Miles has some new ability customization
Has new shock/venom powers, and cloak abilities
Venom powers makes you moves feel more impactful than original and does larger AOE damage
Venom powers uses meter which build up as you do combos, do damage to enemies
Flow of combat is fluid and feel exhilarating. Best when played in 60fps on PS5
Cloaking ability brings in stealth element, but is very lenient if you get caught
Miles has 4 gadgets he can use instead of 8 from Peter
Instead of collecting backpacks, you're collecting time capsules
Web Slinging through the city feel different as Miles has less fluid and more exaggerated movements than Peter
Side missions are more varied, but there are fewer of them focusing more on quality than quantity. There's a
Spiderman app on in-game phone where you can track what side missions you want to do.
Peter will make training missions for Miles which is a substitute for Task Master in original game
Haptic feedback on Duel Sense controller is used sparingly in variety compared to Astro's Playroom tech demo. Show's up while doing specials and during cut scenes for the most part.
Adaptive triggers is present while web swinging through the city

Overall, excellent game to hold you off until Marvel's Spiderman 2. A must get launch title for PS5
However, all those problems are thankfully gone in this new game. Starting with a still learning Miles made unlocking new powers feel more organic to the story and all of his additional powers unique to his character made the combat even more fun. Then there’s the story which felt more personal, more unique, and tighter than the previous game. The addition of the Spider-Man app was also a great new feature for finding side missions to tackle. I also love the music in the game, which clearly took some cues from Into the Spiderverse, which is currently my favorite Spider-Man film to date. Also setting this around Christmas was a nice touch that made it visually unique compared to the last game despite using the same map.
So overall despite being a short game I’m giving this five stars. Similar to Uncharted Lost Legacy, I preferred this to the main game it’s spun off from. I feel like game devs could learn a thing or two when their side games feel better than the main ones. Length isn’t everything and too many games these days overstay their welcome or feel stuffed with needless filler.
All of that said... I enjoyed it and when the chance to get a PS5 comes up finally at least I can upgrade it.
