Stan Lee is a man who needs no introduction. Nevertheless: Having begun his career with wartime Timely Comics and staying the course throughout the Atlas era, Stan the Man made comic-book history with Fantastic Four #1, harbinger of a bold new perspective in story writing that endures to this day. With some of the industry’s greatest artists, he introduced hero after hero in Incredible Hulk, Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men and more — forming a shared universe for rival publishers to measure themselves against. After an almost literal lifetime of writing and editing, Lee entered new entertainment fields and earned Marvel one opportunity after another. He remains one of Marvel’s best-known public representatives.

This is a good edition of these comics if you want to read them for the first time. One thing to note however is that previously Marvel released these as "Marvel Masterworks" but now they are re-releasing the same issues with basically the same exact format except that the book is smaller. I really don't know why they didn't just keep printing what they had already done before. They have done the same exact thing but smaller. But now it's "Mighty". I still recommend it if you've never read these before. This edition is MUCH cheaper than the previous Marvel Masterworks volumes are now (but that's only because Marvel stopped printing them and printed the same thing with a new skin). The only reason I bring this issue up is if you're trying to collect the volumes. This edition is different and smaller so it won't look as good on your shelf with the other volumes. The content inside is exactly the same though.

I bought this because I am a huge fan of Stan Lee and he has been a huge inspiration for me in my own writing and art. I didn't know what to expect as this comic was written in the 60s. But boy it is a really good piece of work that I would recommend to anyone. The printing is really nice and the writing quality got me hooked. I received my copy a few days ago and I can't put it down. The original story of spider man is so fascinating. I'm almost done reading this one and I think ill be hooked to read the rest of the series. I would swear by anything written by Stan Lee.

If you want to start collecting and reading the Golden Age of Marvel comics, these types of trades are simply perfect!

These are stories before Marvel was a group when Spidey was a new character in 'Amazing Fantasy' before being The Amazing Spider-Man. You get to see a world that was the '60s and the characters living in that time and age.
And it's incredible to read these simpler stories that are refreshing from all these drab, overreaching and creatively bankrupt ideas from Modern Marvel.

Something about the simplicity of the fights, plot and characters makes them all likeable and easily understandable even in the year 2023!
It was concerned about telling a story of a teenage superhero which the publisher didn't want because it wouldn't be popular. They didn't want a hero to have tragedy in their life because we couldn't relate to it.
Stan Lee and Steve Ditko proved the publishers wrong. And this changed how comics were being written and drawn.
It's surprising how dark these early comics could get on an emotional scale and how different Peter Parker was from the one we know today.

If you want to get into Spider-Man and not worry about the thousand different storylines Modern Marvel is doing. Buy this for a much simpler and easier time.
