    I write comic books! Growing up, I always wanted to write comics, but I ended up trying my hand at fiction first. I got my MFA from Columbia University, published a book of short stories with The Dial Press in 2006 called Voodoo Heart, then finally broke into comics in 2009 and haven't looked back since. I've worked extensively for DC Comics, writing such titles as Batman, Detective Comics, Justice League, the comic event books DC Dark Knights Metal and Death Metal, and Swamp Thing, among others. I've also created a number of series with some great co-creators and partners -- books like We Have Demons, Clear, Night of the Ghoul, Nocterra, American Vampire, Wytches, the Wake, AD: After Death, and more... I live in NY with my wife, Jeanie and our three boys. I am also a big fan of Elvis Presley.

I have read so many graphic novels. Some better than others in story or art. Leaning more towards the horror genre. Always waiting for those great and different from the rest. Severed has a different story and great art that I enjoyed.
The story circles around a young boy with a misguided past looking for his father in the early 1900s and a mysterious and creepy cannibal monster that targets kids. Choosing them by their talents.
I hope theres more books to this series.

It's important that we have this kind of text available to warn young people from pursuing answers to questions and chasing a satisfying life. Without texts like these, children might believe that they can trust adults and one another, which we all know is dangerously not true.

This book could make a good mother's day gift if your mother was into horror comics because there is a secondary theme that you should appreciate your mom if you got a good one.

This is a great book. The art is amazing. Great use of colors. It really fits it's time setting well. But to me the real standout it is Snyder's writing. This is a great story about a child discovering the existence of evil. The villain is one of the best that I have seen in this format. I also found the story perfectly plotted.

I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a horror graphic novel to read.

I don't consider myself a horror fan, but Snyder's work makes you care about the characters in their situations and throws in some twists. The fact that he doens't name the antagonist something generic adds some suspense as you don't know what to expect all of the time. I really enjoyed this book.

This was one creepy graphic novel. Take one supernatural, kid eating, serial killer and put him on the loose and you have terrors galore. If that sentence disturbs you... Don't pick up this book. If it intrigues you... then by all means, take your chances.
The book had a great story line with awesome drawings and terrific characterization. Recommended to give a good scare.

Honestly, I was expecting a little more from this than what I got. The art was good, but not exactly for me. Some of the pages were all but unseeable because of how dark they were. The story felt like it dragged on and didn't get interesting to me until the last chapter or two. I am sad to say that I didn't enjoy this, as I have enjoyed other Scott Snyder series. I will certainly be passing it on to someone else though.

Just for being written by Scott Snyder I put 5 stars on it, enough said. If you don't know his work I recommend to begin with Severed, as it shows, in my opinion, the best of him. Whenever I decide to get a new graphic novel I ensure that the artwork is good, as for me this is the main reason to think to reread a graphic novel. Compared with normal books, graphic novels are amazing for this plus, you can surely get as much fun rereading in ther 2nd, 3rd and so on time than a book, at least this is how this works for me. The plot itself is fantastic, I was seeking for a good horror story without being about vampires or zombies, as this seems to the the trend nowadays, if you feel the same this is the story you're looking for.The artwork is FANTASTIC, I adore it, and for less than $12 for a graphic novel with 180+ pages, this is a must buy. Definitely one of my top 10 favourite graphic novels!

E' uno di quei fumetti d'autore che sfoggiano tavole simili ad affreschi, che dipingono un periodo di storia americana cupo e triste come quello della grande depressione che fa da sfondo ad una storia di speranze e di uno dei serial killer più mostruosi, improbabili e terribili che siano mai stati trattati in un fumetto.
Ho ordinato e apprezzato la versione inglese del fumetto, l'ho letteralmente divorato fino all'agghiacciante finale.
Un piccolo gioiello che chiunque (appassionati di fumetti e non) dovrebbe leggere.
