Jonathan Hickman may be gone but Gerry Duggan has plans of his own and I can't say I'm not intrigued by this point. The issue starts off with a modest bit of mystery as to the identity of Captain Krakoa and, as the description says, why Cyclops doesn't want him on the team. Duggan handles the twist here well enough but I question why he bothered to do things this way at all as it takes a fair time jump from the previous issue to get here and the next issue will seemingly jump backwards to reveal that story. Also this issue the battle for the planet Mars has finally begun. It seems this will be a cold war for now but I expect things will heat up soon enough. After all, it can't be good how close the enemies of Krakoa and Arakko are to the planet. Duggan has found his footing with the series I think at last. Pepe Larraz is also back and his art just elevates the whole thing.
