From the manufacturer
It’s the fast talking description game!
The king of ‘what’s-on-the-card?’ games; the queen of against-the-clock gabbling and gesticulating; the prince of all-ages fun family get-togethers and the entire royal family of competitive after-dinner challenge-your-friends revelry…
What can we say about Articulate! that hasn’t been said already?
‘Describe a word without actually saying it’ – it might sound very simple, but when you’re racing the timer and being heckled mercilessly by the other team then… well, let’s just say that it isn’t!

1. It's geared to British audiences and many of the answers in the People category will be unfamiliar to Americans. I'm an anglophile and I don't recognize lots of them. What's more, for some names I do recognize, there are errors, like Jane "Austin" instead of Austen.
2. The game board adds complexity without value. You're playing the game to be fast-paced and fun, but having to follow all these fiddly rules for what to do when you land on a red or orange panel really slows things down and isn't entertaining.
3. The timer is supposed to last 30 seconds, but the one we received just barely gets to 25 seconds. You might think this is quibbling, but 30 seconds is already awfully short to try to guess multiple words, and 25 seconds is significantly worse. We ended up using a separate timer.
4. The print on the cards is tiny; a real challenge for older eyes. It's also not easy to distinguish the colors on the card, especially if you're not playing in a brightly-lit room.
There is a US version out, which would probably be a better choice for Americans. Still, for this type of entertainment, I'd recommend old-fashioned charades or the Heads Up app. For a different clue-giving game, try Codenames instead. It's fun and subtly challenging for how simple it appears to be at first.
Top reviews from other countries
The concept of the game is brilliantly simple yet exhilarating. Players must describe as many card entries as possible within a thrilling 30-second window, all without resorting to using “rhymes with” or “sounds like” clues. This fast-talking description game never fails to bring everyone together and ignite a competitive yet lighthearted spirit among the players. It’s incredible to witness the sheer creativity and wit that emerges from each participant as they strive to convey their clues within the time limit.
One of the absolute highlights of Articulate is the “Try Not to Panic” round, which introduces an extra layer of excitement and hilarity to the game. During this round, players must describe a word without actually uttering it. Sounds easy, right? Think again! As the timer races, and the other team heckles you mercilessly, panic is inevitable, leading to moments of side-splitting confusion and laughter. This brilliantly designed round keeps the game engaging and entertaining throughout, ensuring that every session is filled with unpredictable fun.
As a family board game, Articulate is a true blessing, especially for those with smartphone-addicted teenagers. It serves as a powerful tool to bring the whole family together for some good old-fashioned quality time, reminiscent of the days before screens dominated our lives. Whether it’s a relaxed weekend family game night or a lively holiday gathering, Articulate never fails to foster a strong sense of connection and camaraderie among all generations. It transcends age barriers, allowing everyone to actively participate and create unforgettable memories together.
Furthermore, Articulate seamlessly transforms into an adult party game, showcasing its versatility and appeal to various audiences. This game draws the shy out of their shells and humbles the overly confident, making it the ultimate icebreaker that effortlessly unites a roomful of people in fits of hysterical laughter. The way it creates an atmosphere of pure joy and merriment is truly unmatched, making it an essential addition to any party or social gathering.
With its flexible player count, accommodating 4 to 20+ participants aged 12 and above, Articulate is the epitome of inclusivity and adaptability. Whether it’s an intimate gathering with a few close friends or a large-scale party with a diverse group, this game effortlessly caters to ensure that the more, the merrier. Its ability to entertain a wide range of players makes it an absolute crowd-pleaser, perfect for any occasion.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly give Drumond Park Articulate Family Board Game a well-deserved 5-star rating, and my praise for this remarkable game knows no bounds. Its enduring appeal and ability to elicit endless joy have made it a treasured companion in my social gatherings over the years.
