If you love the DOA series, chances are, you'll love this game!
With oodles of content and updated gameplay, Ultimate truly brings about improvements over five. Even if you've beaten 5, 5U is still more than worth the purchase. You wont have to re-unlock anything, and the achievements are exclusive to 5U (meaning they have absolutely nothing to do with 5). Online play is improved, new characters are fun, and the bonus content is worth your hours and dollars. Let's get fighting!

This is my third time purchasing a game from the DOA franchise. Somehow these games keep disappearing and I find myself getting another one. This game is cool because it is one of very few that my wife, my 13 year old daughter and I all enjoy to play and compete against one another in. I think that the game play and graphics are top of the line for a fighting series. I have been playing this game for years and it hasn't gotten old yet.

The game play and PC's I give 4 1/2 stars, but like everyone else, I had to download a bunch of catalog content to even begin playing, and the game has also frozen on me 3 or 4 times, of the 5-6 that I've played it, while trying to load the DLC during boot. Not cool.

I also think that at least some of the costume sets should have been unlockables, rather than making everything paid for DLC content, but I didn't factor this into my review.

When I bought this for my birthday back in 2013 (nearly TEN years ago!), it arrived fine and dandy for about thirty bucks.

Now I see that it is nearly 80 dollars?! What the heck happened, other than releasing on steam and needing to pay for every single character individually??? Why not simply release the whole game by itself in Ultimate form for 30 like before!

This game would be fine, but shortly after purchasing it, I wasn't able to play due to the requirement that I download something like FIFTY individual costume packs for the characters. I started, got to about 5, and gave up. Ridiculous.
